Hey, friends! I typed out a grocery list in the description box of everything I purchased for this fun little meal plan in case you want to recreate it! 🎄🎄🎄
❤
Mindy, did you say this whole meal was around $40?
Oh my gosh, I used to feel tipsy just watching Sandra Lee make one of her cocktails. I really miss her show and her awesome Simi-homemade kitchen tips. 🎄🎄❤❤🎄🎄
Her show would have an even bigger following these days. People are really l ooking for shortcuts!
@@SeeMindyMomYes they are and your channel is like a goldmine. I'm glad I found you! Merry Christmas! 🎄 ❤
First, your new haircut is so cute. Second, thank you for sharing these budget friendly ideas. I'm forever grateful for you and your channel.
Thanks so much! I got a new hair tool that helps me curl it, I've been playing with it. :)
@@SeeMindyMom you're so very welcome. It's really cute.
Cute hairstyle Mindy ! Great idea with the hamburger sliders ! They looked yummy ! You are the queen of snack boards ! Everything looks delish ! Thank you so much for all the wonderful cooking ideas that you come up with ! My husband and I love your recipes !!!
Please tell me the curling iron your using
As much as I love the Mickey one, the Muppets was always my favorite. “Light the lamp not the rat”! ❤
What a great way to change the perspective…it’s not that you can’t afford the theatre…but why would you want to miss out on a fantastic full movie experience complete with themed menu! When we were kids we always enjoyed more personal fun…vs the ‘buy the packaged experience’ even if it’s inferior to what we’d have at home. Way to go with a great reminder that at home isn’t the lesser choice
Your channel just helps me plan and stay on top of everything, I lost my grandfather earlier this week and I've really been struggling to get into the Christmas spirit so this video helped a lot.
I'm so sorry to hear that. I'm sure it's very bittersweet, I hope there are some warm memories to carry you through the season.
George C Scott Christmas Carol is my favorite 🎄🎄
My favorite version of a Christmas Carol is the one where Patrick Stewart plays Scrooge
We are a Muppet Christmas Carol Family.
Also, I am so glad you do this too. We've always done this type of thing rather than spending the big bucks to go to the "place" whatever it may be. I just feel that you can create the same kind of fun and save a ton in the process. Merry Christmas!
Mickey's Christmas Carol and Mr Magoo's Christmas Carol are my favorite! Grew up watching both every year.
My favorite version of the A Christmas Carol is the one with George C Scott as Scrooge. And I really liked the movie The Man Who Invented Christmas. It was such a neat behind the scene version, whether accurate or not, of how A Christmas Carol came about.
The best version of "A Christmas Carol" is the 1951 version with Alastair Sim! It's long, but has some little snippets that colour Scrooge's character further. (e.g. "More bread!" "hapenny extra sir")
I enjoy all of the Christmas Carol stories but Scrooged with Bill Murray is definitely a fav!
Favorite version hands down of "A Christmas Carol" is the 1951 Alistair Sim movie. Watch it every year and it never gets old. However, Michael Caine's portrayal of Scrooge is really good. Who'da think someone playing it straight alongside all the Muppet silliness would work, but it does.
Movie- George C Scott Christmas Carol, Cartoon-Mickey's Christmas Carol or Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol. I do love the Muppets too!
Mupptes Christmas Carol is my family's favorite Christmas movie. We always watch it together at least once every December.
Team Muppet Christmas Carol definitely! And love the movie theme night idea! I need to plan one!
Our granddaughter loved Mickey's Christmas Carol. We still have it and she is 25 years old.😂😂
We get the movies from the library, granted it is well after the showing at the theatre, but we can have pizza, popcorn, drinks and candy without breaking the bank. The kids loved it, and they could watch it more than once!!
I didn't like cranberry as a kid, but I do now. First Watch had a drink called Red Medinine-Pomegranate, cranberry, black tea, local honey and cinnamon. I made my own for awhile, though I don't think I had pomegranate. I agree-Muppets are the best!
I especially like Albert Finley as Scrooge. It is a musical.
This video was super fun! My favorite version is the one featuring George C. Scott. I watch it MULTIPLE times every year! My family have put their foot down and won't watch it with me anymore!😂I also read the book every December. Merry Christmas to you and yours!🎄🎄🎄
George C Scott’s is my favorite too. My dad and I argue over it cuz he says the old one with Aliststair Sim’s version is the best.
YES! The Muppet's Christmas Carol is the best! But I wish Disney had left Bell's song in it.
Ha, I got you beat. I used to go to the movies in the early to mid 60's. It was 50cents a ticket, 50cents for popcorn and 25cents for a drink. Granted, that was a long long time ago, but if I had $1 and my friend had $1 we would split our popcorn and pop and have a good time. Of course my mom probably thought it was expensive to hand me that dollar 💵.
I loved watching Sandra Lee and yes.. she loves her cocktails. I wouldn't say she was JUST A LITTLE heavy handed with the vodka
You didn't sing suddenly salad! 😮 Thanks for sharing the fun activity dinner, snack and drink!!
Yes! I took my 3 children to the Cinema last school holidays. $120 later.... and we shared snacks as you mentioned!
(We are in QLD, Australia 🇦🇺)
Loved this! We listen to Patrick Stewart's performance of Christmas Carol every year as we drive to Grandma's on Christmas day. We started this tradition 30 years ago, and my adult kids are trying to keep it going. God Bless Us Everyone!
I love the George C. Scott version of A Christmas Carol
Great ideas! I love The Muppet Christmas Carol and equally love A Christmas Carol with George C. Scott, as I have fond memories of watching it with my Dad when I was young.
So fun! I love how you encourage others to do whatever works for them. Sharing how nothing is a "must" is so good for (especially young or inexperienced) cooks or hosts. In other videos you have shared how a treat wasn't the find you thought it was, etc. I think that's a great lesson as well. We made a spectacular try at salsa and failed. We got so much laughter out of it, prefaced with 'if it doesn't work out, it will be a lesson, and it's okay if it flops.' The ingredients were inexpensive and the time was really all we lost. Great moments and memories are often the simple things.
My favorite version of A Christmas Carol is the one with George C. Scott. It was my parent's favorite, and it reminds me of Christmas when I was a kid.
Thanks for the recipe ideas! My favorite version of A Christmas Carol was the one where George C. Scott played Scrooge (1984).
American Christmas Carol is my favorite
Muppets Christmas Carol is the best!
Yes my kids too love Mickey's Christmas Carol!
My favorite version is the George C Scott one. I have to watch it every year. My family used to watch it together. Reminds me of sweet memories with my Mom.
Can you do more movie related meals? Your puns were amazing!
Jen Chapin did a video last year with different Christmas movie themed ideas.
I have another one already planned with a menu, I'm gonna see how this one does and if people want to see more, so thanks for the feedback! :) And yes, Alma's right, Jen did one last year with Christmas movies, it was cute.
This video did my heart some good and helped me come up with a plan for Christmas!🎄 Thank you, and Merry Christmas!🎄
I love this! Thanks for sharing ideas for a fun holiday meal!
@@MrsAlmaTrumble
Do you remember what movie she did this with. I tried finding it but can’t find it.
Our favorite Christmas carol is the Muppet one too!
Muppet Christmas Carol all the way! Such a great soundtrack. Your dessert board looks fantastic. Merry Christmas!
My personal favorite version of A Christmas Carol is the live action musical in my hometown. It’s Amazing!!
Dude, I live in AR, so things are typically cheaper here than in some other/bigger places. But DUDE. I took my daughter to a movie for her bday, and for 2 tickets, 1 small popcorn and 2 small drinks, it was over $50. For the two of us. The tickets alone were $19/ea.
We rarely go to movie theatres any longer, solely because of the price. I'm a bit older than Mindy (about a generation). I remember going to see Song of the South by myself back when I was 12. So, 1973. The ticket was $1.25, popcorn was $0.75, and my small coke (I was thrilled, because I wasn't supposed to drink caffeinated drinks) was $0.50. That's $2.50.
I ran the concession stand at a movie theatre in 1980. A movie was two dollars (matinee was $1.25), small popcorn was $1.50 and a small coke was 40 cents. Still, less than four bucks.
I'm an old man with young kids, and last summer I took them to see Elemental. We split a medium popcorn, all got waters (and I smuggled in candy). Tickets were ten bucks for me and nine each for my two children (they're both under 12... and I'm in my early 60s, too young for the senior discount of a dollar). The popcorn was eight bucks and three waters was $11.25. With tax that was $21. Tickets were $38. So then, $59 (plus the four bucks I spent on smuggled candy) for a 90 minute movie that they weren't even thrilled about.
This is why we stream movies. Even if we have to pay ten or 15 bucks, it is a fraction of what the theatre charges.
My daughter is nearly 25 and our favourite was and still is muppets christmas carol. We watch it every Christmas Eve before bed😊
Yes! The muppet Christmas carol is my all time favorite movie. The Muppet family Christmas is fun too.
We always watched Scrooged every year. So crazy but Carol Kane is a favorite!
11:30 the man who invented Christmas!!
$5 Tuesday at our local neighborhood theater. Started in 2018 and still doing it. Large refillable popcorn and drink combo was $10 and now up to $19. Still worth it. The theater is nice enough to look the other way as I fix all of our drinks in cups I brought from home.
I am a big fan of the Albert Finney version, and the muppets Christmas carol. Then Mickeys. I watch all 3 every year
Mindy this is such a great idea. It’s so easy when you’re always trying to be frugal to not splurge on groceries at all, but by choosing to do a cheaper movie night, you’re giving permission to splurge as a saving. Great mindset shift for me - thanks! ❤
my favorite is Mister. Magoo's Christmas Carol
Muppet Christmas Carol all the way! (Although I do love Mickey's as well)
I’m with Ruthie, Mickey’s Christmas Carol is my favorite version.
We like An American Christmas Carol with Henry Winkler
Muppets Christmas Carol with the kids, Scrouged with the adults.
The one with George C. Scott!
Great video Mindy! I missed you singing, “Suddenly Salad 🥗!” 🎵
Mickeys Christmas carol is the best.
The one thing I would change is watching Muppets Christmas Carol instead! Mickey is nice, but there's nothing better than Kermit singing with Michael Caine. The Christmas themed movie night is awesome either way though and I'm definitely trying the bah humburgers this week!
Christmas Story is a favorite for us.
I loved watching Semi homemade. That's what I started watching when I was learning how to cook.
We just watched Mickey's Christmas Carol Monday night at Cub scouts. I don't think I've watched that before. They also watched the Original Grinch cartoon. I had never seen that before... Except for the part that was in Home Alone when Kevin watched it lol
I LOVE THIS IDEA! What a fun way to enjoy a movie at home!❤
Muppets Christmas Carol for me too! I love the music!
I love The Muppets Christmas Carole…but my younger kids like the Mickey one.
I love This idea!!!! I do a holiday party for Halloween and Christmas. We pick a new movie and have holiday themed food or treats. I should Do it more often!
I love Mickey's Christmas Carol
I completely agree. We have been doing family movie nights at home, just like you. We have been doing "Christmas Movie Night" every Friday night since Thanksgiving. I bought popcorn and snacks and usually make a dessert for us. My son is 15 and is actually really enjoying it and I let him pick some of the movies. Also, cute sweater and I definitely used to watch Sandra Lee 😂
Muppets Christmas Carol is wonderful!
The best!
You’re so cute talking about those Christmas tree cakes! 😂 💚❤🎄❤️💚 thank you for the festive ideas!
EXCELLENT video, thank you and more like it, please!! New Year's, Valentine's, etc!! We are a family of 5, like you, but now have 2 teens and a tween. Out to the movies happens MAYBE once a year for us. 😕
My favorite version is A Christmas Carol with Patrick Stewart from 1999
My favorite is the Alister Simm version from 1951. My second favorite is the one from the 30’s. When I was younger I didn’t like any of them. Now when I can’t sleep UA-cam and Hulu to the rescue. I watch all of them several times during December. But my favorite Christmas Eve movie is Arthur Christmas. That dip looked delicious . Well everything did. Great idea for the burgers ….I’m. sure the grandkids would love them
That is clever and fun. Great way to enjoy family time and create memories.
1. I love your videos!!
2. Sandra Lee was my favorite on Food Network!!
3. Scrooged is my favorite version. I love it!!
What a sweet mama you are Mindy ❤️
"Wait 'till you see his bride."🤣💯 That girl is a clever one.♥
I know, right? I cracked up!
My husband I and did this a year back. We recreated some of the popular foods from the movie. We did Christmas Vacation, Elf, Home Alone, Santa Claus. We did one every week leading up to Christmas.
Thanks for the great recipe ideas. I loved the Mr. Magoo version of A Christmas Carol. I haven't seen it in years, but it was great.
I absolutely love Muppets Christmas Carol, I've watched it with my daughters(now adults)and now I watch it with my grandchildren. Brings happy memories.
This sounds so fun! I can’t wait to do this with my family. Thanks for the wonderful ideas 😊
So glad I can help! :)
I watch Aunt Sandy regularly still here on UA-cam she is the funniest
Loved the food you made. I feel the same way about the Christmas tree cakes!! I bought a box just for myself!! I am 77 year old Oklahoman!! I live in Mustang in OKC metro area.. you are a bright spot in my day.. keep up the good work!!
We love the Muppet Christmas Carol! We just watched it last night again!
These are some fantastic ideas for family fun times!
That themed holiday movie dinner was very creative & looked delicious.
Mickeys Christmas Carol to this day at over the age of 40 is my all time favorite ❤️
Yes also LOVE muppets version!
Scrooge wittg Albert Finney.....i love a musical
The dessert board looks amazing!
The muppet Christmas carol is not bad. The best one is the one with Sir Patrick Stewart. The only one I will watch.
I have been grabbing the cute seasonal shaped pasta at Marshall's. It's a fun festive meal for the kids without me having to do much, usually just a cheese sauce.
Great ideas! ❤
My kids love doing ‘surgery’ on things 😂 my favourite is Scrooged with bill Murray, so good!
Some really great themed ideas!!
Thanks so much! 😊
Absolutely love this idea! As my daughter’s family has grown, (3 newly adopted children this year) she has been sharing the holiday favorite movies with the kids. Doubt we’ll have time to try this before Christmas, but will find time to incorporate before New Year’s Eve. Family time is the most precious gift. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
I laughed out loud at the inner Sandra Lee reference! LOL
Love the ideas in the video!! Merry Christmas Mindy and family!!
This is so fun!!!!! Thank you for sharing!
Amc bucket $30 good for a year. Refills are under $6. Kids popcorn snack pack cheaper than large drink (popcorn, drink, fruit snack). Reward member birthday free drink or popcorn and discounts.
