@cascade. ❤ it's difficult. One day at a time. My husband has been without work for 3 years due to epilepsy and a nervous breakdown. Keep up you chin and pray and believe
When I start to feel overwhelmed, I just pray, "Lord, I trust you." Sometimes I have to speak it into fruition even if I don't feel it. The psalms have also been a huge comfort, and a great tool for praying my anxiety and anger over to God. Hang in there!
As someone who works in academic advising, and career planning/human resources, whether you get fired/lose your job or walk away on your own it is still a gut punch especially if it is something you were not planning. So be kind to yourself and take a deep breath. I am so glad you decided to share this because it shows other people that they are not alone and more importantly that it is not their fault if they get fired. Sometimes life chooses to send us in a direction we did not see coming. So I guess the big question is since you can work from anywhere, will you stay in OK or go to another state with the kids in school etc?
@@kathyk9519 Yes, I know that Daniel resigned, but I wanted to make sure that people understood whether they resign or are fired, they should be kind to themselves. It isn't their fault most of the time.
@@missnewzealand6103 Because many times when we get fired there are circumstances beyond our own control that we don't see coming. Sometimes we cause the problem make no mistake, but many times we don't see it coming.
I am a preacher’s wife (and daughter too) and we’ve been in that exact position before. Thank you for being real. Prayers for you during this time. And I love diet soda.😊
My son in law used to work at the same church. He's the one who told me about your channel. He was phased out last year. It was rough at first, but he's so much happier than he was. I believe God will do the same for your family. God bless you!!
My husband has been in ministry for 10 years and we recently came out of a very difficult season of ministry as well. We ended up relocating and found a new amazing church family. I was starting to wonder if one even existed! Praying you will lean on the Lord and trust him during this time! He is faithful!
I feel you. My husband lost his mortgage industry job 10 months ago, and I can sincerely say this season has been one of the absolute sweetest, despite also carrying challenges. Praying for God's plan and purpose for you and your family!
As a fellow Pastor’s wife I totally understand how this impacts your WHOLE life!! I am praying for your family but especially for your kiddos to walk in the peace and favor of the Lord❤ May your latter days be even greater than the former.
Thank you for this! I was on staff at a church as part of the childrens ministry going on 7 years and I ended up leaving and my last day was 7/2/23 (it was not planned as I truly thought we would be there forever). It has rocked my world ( all 6 of us actually) and I am still grieving. But watching this video today was sooo encouraging. Thank you 🤍
I just left my job and accepted a position with my church as we structure to open our child care center. Because we're not open yet, I am not bringing in any income. This is a step in faith, and like others have said, I consider my church, my family. I understand your grieving...lifting you in prayer towards healing...
My mother's affairs were starting to cause me to take too many days off as a teacher. I decided to retire after 33 years, but 6 years short of my goals. I am so stressed out about the change. It has been a 4 month long ordeal but my mother is now in assisted living, we have sold her house, and I now have time to search for a less stressful job than teaching. Good luck to you. PRAYERS!
Thank you for sharing these parts of your life. As someone who has been in ministry for 15 plus years, you hit the nail on the head when you said it becomes and is your life.
Thank you for saying, “We know that with the Lord there are no surprises.” I’ve had a not so good surprise at my job this week, so I can relate. But I am also incredibly peaceful because I know that there’s no point in worrying. God knew this was coming, and I can rest easy in that.
When you talked about leaving 1/2 way through a vacation that you’d planned for a year, I thought “uh oh”. I admire your positive outlook, strength, and faith. I have been having a difficult time at work and I pray about it daily. Happy Birthday to sweet Ruthie!
Hugs my dear!! I was a preacher's kid, so I do understand the ups and downs of ministry life. I affirm what you said, "God knows". He has plans for us that we cannot imagine. All the best.
Tears, hugs, love, and prayers! I once left my paid position in a mega church - I understand the weight of your decision! God's got you! And we'll pray you through!! Happy birthday, Ruthie!! I'm glad your folks are coming in town. You are SO loved!!! ❤
Thank you for sharing this. I was just laid off from my role in HR. I’m the sole income earner since my husbands recent traumatic brain injury, so it’s a scary time, but one where we are leaning on our gracious God.
I always enjoy your videos. Thank you for sharing the news about your husband's job - you do a huge service by modeling a sane and humane response to a scary life change. I hope Ruthie enjoyed her birthday. Your box mix cupcake recipe is legit delish! Thanks for keeping it real. Love to you and your family!!!
As a pastors kid I 1000% understand where you guys are in life. I have always appreciated how you focus on the family. I’m so proud of you guys for leaving instead of staying in a potentially toxic situation. I wish my parents would have done that.
Your positive mindset, love for the Lord, and belief in His plan for your family, are so inspiring. Thank you for sharing with us, I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
I made these cupcakes the day after watching this video. I used a yellow cake mix with vanilla pudding. I used fancy cupcake papers and they had a nice height to them. 18 cupcakes in all. I made a delicious chocolate frosting that I piped on. Shared with family and they all said hands down best cupcake ever. So moist. Now I’m spoiled. I’m going to line up my cake mixes from my pantry and made sure I have corresponding pudding mixes on hand to mix in. Great recipe. Thanks for sharing.
This year has been a tough one for us as well. I have always been frugal so it has helped us through this. Earlier this year my husband was diagnosed with cancer and three months ago lost his job. We are holding on to God and He has been good. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Mindy, I'm only 2 minutes into this and I want to send you encouragement, confidence in your family's future, sympathy, and strength. Whatever comes, your family is strong enough to get through it.❤
I know what that punch in the gut feels like. I am so sorry your family had that interrupt your special trip, and that you are having to carry around the mixed bag of feelings…one foot in front of the other, sometimes it is the sacrifice that takes us to where we need to be next. ❤️
I love your positive mindset. I have literally been on a health rollercoaster for the last 21 years. So many doctors have been amazed at what I have survived and I know its been my faith in God and all of the prayers I have received from others. 🙏🏻 that your new direction leads you to an even better life!!
What a huge decision. Following God's lead through Faith is scary but comforting. We went through this at our Church 4 years ago. I, of course, was not a part of the changes but the whole church was kept in the loop as the changes were being made. Praying for your family. Love your videos.
Happy Birthday to Ruthie! Thank you for sharing what's going on. My best friend was married to a pastor. Sometimes life is a roller coaster ride! I'll keep you all in my prayers, and I know God will lead you to something better.
Praying for comfort as you try to navigate the changes in your ministry going forward! Your work won’t change because of a position, so wishing you many blessings as you work in a different path!
I just went today and noticed several items have gone up by more than just a few cents. I saw a friend while I was there and she said, “Have you noticed the prices have gone up?”😏
Prices in Aldi Australia have gone through the roof. Some by as much as $2-$3 for an block of cheese. It’s disproportionate to the increase in the cost of living and even though it’s still cheaper than other supermarkets, the margin of savings are dwindling. And for quite a lot of items, there is no difference in prices buying at Aldi any more. It is such a disappointment.
I needed this message so much. Husband left his job 3 years ago. I have been the sole provider.. but this reminded me, GOD has been the one providing for us. He has opened the doors for me to make it easier on my family.
I feel for you Mindy. Between November of 2021 until April 2022, my husband went without income due to illness. It was a struggle...but we got through it!
You are such an awesome mother and wife to support your husband through everything. ❤ I can't wait to see what's next on your journey. Can you post the cake and cupcake recipe? I always try to write it down but miss it lol
Yes I also do the broom thing . I am praying for your family in your recent decision . In ministry it has to be so hard … like you said it’s your family , friends and place you worship … it is your whole life . Happy Birthday Ruthie !
Mindy…what a wonderful example of a faithful servant. Both of those scriptures at the end are perfect. Thank you for your openness about your faith in an age where Christians are frequently mocked and scoffed at. We went through this very thing and had to take a literal leap into God’s mighty and capable arms and trust HE had our future in His hands. It was the hardest thing we ever did but God blessed us beyond measure. It was scary but it taught me so much about letting go of the control and worry and believing Gods knows best. I am believing and agreeing with you that this will lead to bigger and better things! God bless you, your family and your ministry!
Prayers for you my dear youtube video friend. Always enjoy your videos, I’m going to try your cupcake recipe for our next Church Cake Auction Fundraiser. Love the idea also of buying the frosting ready in tube to frost, what a great idea!!
17:40 Ah! I just got choked up when you said this. 🥹 I needed this reminder. This too shall pass… Thank you for being so rare and vulnerable with us. Praying for you and your family during this season. 🙏🏼❤️
New broom? Old kitchen broom retires to basement. Basement broom goes to garage. Garage broom goes to patio. Patio broom goes to scrap metal under hubbies lathe. Lathe broom goes onto the burn pile...unless it is winter and then is Frosty's accessory.
Thanks for sharing ❤ My husband and I are gearing up to help plant a church in KC and leaving the church I've attended for the last 20+ years is heartbreaking, but we are stepping out in faith and hoping to provide a place where others will be blessed like we have been at our current church.
My husband lost his job in January of this year and the income loss at first was a very hard hit. But having him home with the kids especially with a new one due to be here in just a few weeks, has actually been an unexpected blessing.
I’m so happy you shared this with us! Me and my husband and our children are currently in a “waiting season.” There are things that are or aren’t happening or we just don’t understand and the thing that gets me through is that God always has a plan and His plan is far better than my own! Change is hard, especially when it’s out of your comfort zone and/or when it’s unexpected. But God allows us to go through the changes to help us grow and to put our faith and trust in him! That’s awesome that the Lord is already putting new job offers in your husband’s path.
About to lose my job more than likely but worse than that my boss has terminal cancer in like 5 locations. You’re exactly right we may be surprised but God is not. Holding fast for answers. Needed this video today and praying for your family. 😢
My husband and I are in ministry as well, and from one pastor’s wife to another, I honor your faith and thank you for sharing your journey. I will be praying for you.
We’re facing a lot of uncertainty and on the edge of disaster. If we can just hang on a little longer there’s a great chance we completely flip the script in as little as a year. Seeing your faith is inspiring. Normally I’d be losing sleep and making drastic moves that prolong the goals we need to achieve. But this time I have more faith and am trusting the course God put us on. Thank you for sharing your personal life and being an example. Looking through the comments it seems many of us needed this message right now.
I too am navigating through an unexpected career transition- I am a PT and my company decided to transition to a contract company - we were given less than a 3 week notice- i had the option to sign on with the contract company , but several of their practices were just not something i was comfortable with- i was fortunate in that i had a part time offer with a different company, which is the option i chose. I realize i am far more fortunate than many, but it is still very much an unexpected gut punch and decrease in income- thank you so much for your honesty and transparency- wishing you all of the very best!
As a UMC pastor I feel ya! I thought I might be in this situation but for now things have leveled and I am here. But, since we could be reappointed any year I have really worked to manage the anxiety that is always present. I am praying that your next steps will be clear. Blessings to you!
We just recently changed churches because we felt led to and love our new church family. We'll keep y'all in our prayers as y'all go through this change.
@SeeMindyMom you're welcome, friend. Us too. My hubby is here because of prayer. He has died twice (tractor trailer rollover accident and sepsis) and battled Covid, but God's not done with him yet. He's on oxygen 24-7 due to Covid damaging his lungs.
Bless you and your family keep your eyes on him and know in your heart he has instilled in you everything you need for this part of your journey ❤❤ have a blessed weekend
I am praying for you and your family. I feel a peace about your family when I pray. Thanks for standing up for what you believe. My family and I have been through some wilderness medically these past few years and God always has a plan and his plan is best!
❤ Prayers for ya'll. My husband lost his job just as our daughter left for college. It was devastating because of the loss of income but for him personally. He was let go because of time he had to take off for surgery. His job was physically demanding and in the end, losing that job was good for his health. Going through that storm is can be emotional and frightening. With three kids, we worried. God has you ❤ He will always have your best in His hands.
Another of your subscribers is out here praying for you and the family-I am hopeful the other side of this wilderness is an unexpected delight. So so sorry you are having to go through this uncertain time, but glad you’re all together for it.
That is going to be a change for you. We buy soda on sale to take on picnics or when we are going out for the day. It means that we feel the meal/snack is a treat.
I understand being in the wilderness. It is both scary and exciting, but you will be fine, better than fine, you will be great. Because of Daniel's professional background, he will have a lot of opportunities come his way. Your family is the core of of your existence; you will all, as one, embrace this next chapter and grow.❤❤❤
I'm so sorry you're going through job loss right now. I can totally relate to the fact that, when you leave a church job, you're not only losing your job but also your church home and possibly your friends. In my situation, a new pastor came in, sowed a lot of discontent and ultimately fired me, leaving the congregation to believe that I had been unethical. Later, that pastor was let go and my reputation was revived, but by then, we were so hurt by what happened and how people reacted that we still haven't been back to church, seven years later. My faith in God is intact, but my faith in other people is not. Anyway, I wish you all the best, and I'm sure your husband will find a great new opportunity soon!
That's always a hard move. Our church has gone through a lot of changes the last couple years and its been so difficult. I pray whatever comes next is God-led and God-willing, a good fit.
I’ve recently come to love the phrase “hard is not the same as bad”. Thank you for being so open and real on your channel. Praying for you and your family. Can’t wait to see what God has in store for you guys!
thank you for sharing your story. God bless you and your family. We have been in the wilderness as well recently. I understand. God is good and will see you through this storm. It will be ok and God is faithful. Praying for you and your family . God bless you all.
My husband is a pastor too and I know how difficult it is to leave a church you've poured yourself into - where your dearest friends are - and where your kids have grown. Your video really tugged on my heartstrings. You have such a positive attitude though, and I know the Lord is going to take good care of you and your family. I look forward to hearing about what God's doing in the days ahead!
Thank you! That's exactly it, and it's difficult to explain sometimes how multiple facets of your life are connected to a single place when you work in the ministry. Thank you for seeing us! :)
Sending you love, hugs and prayers that your family has all the peace, provided by God, during this change in your life. You are so right, He knew. He planned it. And your family will be blessed greatly by Him for following His instructions to you. ❤
The. Lord is guiding a lot of Christian’s in different ways. I am a caregiver for my husband cannot begin to tell you how The lord has provided for us. We are in our mid to late 70’s
My husband resigned in 2020 from his pastoral position after serving for 9 years. His resignation was due to decisions being made as well by other leadership. We loved our church family so much! It is still a punch in the gut and he still has not gone back into full-time vocational ministry (which has been insanely hard for me), but he continues to serve in our new local church. He recently turned down another position because he still needs more time to heal. Ministry is awesome, often hard, but the rewards are eternal. Praying you all stay faithful to each other as a couple, faithful as a family, faithful in a new ministry and faithful to our great Savior. Love your channel. So neat to see how God has prepped you to be so frugal for your family long before you knew that this trial would come.
Oh wow, we have heard similar stories from friends of ours, you are not alone. Covid was hard on lots of people and professions, and it was a tough time to be in ministry!
This past January my husband, at the age of 67 lost his good paying executive position that has been in his occupational wheelhouse for over 40 years. Then he took a part-time gig that brought a small amount of money, but as of September 1st he no longer has that. Times are getting tough for a lot of people and we are going to need those budget recipes you do on your channel! God bless you and your family. God has plans to prosper you 🙏.
Oh, wow, I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope that the best door opens for your husband and your family soon, and that it's the best, most unexpected blessing!
Prayers going our you and family. I completely understand having faith with the Lord. I have been unemployed for 4 months and still looking for a job and having faith with God. But I have fallen out many times due to certain circumstances. Then I pray and open the Bible.
I don't go to church anymore. I find there is a lot of drama at church to say the least. I am being very NICE. I had a preacher say something he should have NEVER said to anyone! And that's the last time I went to church which was Easter Sunday of the year 2000. I am not into choosing a particular "religion" either. I can praise God anywhere. I hope things work out for you and I am sorry your vacation was cut short. Thanks for all your videos I love them all!
The church helps us to encourage one another & grow closer to our Lord & Savior. The church is not perfect & will never have perfect people because only Jesus is perfect. I am sorry that the preacher said something to upset you. We have been hurt by our former pastor as well. We forgave him & we go to a different church now. Everyday we are growing close to Jesus Christ or farther away. Life can be challenging at times... my 46 year old husband has terminal cancer & I just lost my job 2 months ago but the Lord is faithful. His perfect peace is more than enough to help us with the hard times. Surrender all day /everyday, treasure every moment taking nothing for granted. No time to sweat the small stuff & sorry that I wasted precious time. Blessing always, RM from Florida
Thank you for sharing your journey. My husband is not a pastor but we are heavily involved in ministry at our church and i often think about how much it would turn our lives upside down if we had to leave for some reason.
Bless for being so open about this difficult decision for you and your family. My husband are also going through a career change and relocation. Praying for a smooth transition for you and your family.
Thank you for being up front and sharing. Lots of prayers will be going up for your life direction. We are retired now, but my husband’s job loss (downsizing at a few different places he worked) was scary. But God was and is faithful. We were more than abundantly blessed in ways I still can’t even understand.
Thank you for being brave and sharing about God and where you’re currently at! 🙏🏻 also you’re not alone on the broom thing lol I also do that with my vacuum, we have a runner in the garage from our shoes to the door and use and old indoor vacuum to vacuum it as well as the cars.
I will definitely keep y'all in my prayers. Our family knows all too well, in the last couple of years those gut-punch moments. Could you say a prayer for my family please? I love and respect your fearless, inspirational, and steady faith. The end of your video with your words and the Bible verses hit home for me. You are a strong woman of God and it shows!
We are just coming out of a season in the wilderness and this is one of many affirmations this week of Gods love and grace on us. Thank you for being a messenger.
sorry to hear about the changes in your life. i hear you on life changes. my daughter has had some medical is issues this year. 4 hospital stays and about 5-6 different specialists (lost count). She is immune system compromised. Life changes (events) can be difficult to navigate for everyone in the family.
Solidarity and prayers coming your way. I was a minister and church-hurt, is some of the most difficult hurts. Because of enmeshment. Sending love from Ontario 🇨🇦
I really listened and this touched my heart. Especially being in the wilderness. Know God has been putting a great plan together for your family. Our walk is being ,helping our daughter along with our son's help and our faith as she goes thru her cancer journey. Never thought about us being" in the wilderness." Am doing some sole searching as I write this. She just left to go pick up our granddaughter and spend a week once again with a friend. I am going to talk and pray to help with my feelings. God bless and Take care!!
Bless you and your family! Thank you for sharing. The way you handled this situation is an example to all! I hope you find the peace you need to get thru all this! Live to you all!
Ugh. So sorry. My husband is recently retired from the ministry. It’s difficult because so much of your social life, friendships, and kids relationships are tied to your church. Praying for your family as y’all search for the next ministry spot the Lord has for y’all. Thanks for sharing your life with us.
I swear this video was made just for me to hear. My husband lost his job this past week. I’m holding on to God for strength through this storm.
The Lord bless you & keep you!

I just went today and noticed several items have gone up by more than just a few cents. I saw a friend while I was there and she said, “Have you noticed the prices have gone up?”😏
Please tell me you’re lying, I only shop 1x/month at Aldi for specific things and haven’t been in a month…😭
Amen! I find the fact that He is in control gives me peace and I know He will carry you all through this. Like you said He is never surprised
You are such an awesome mother and wife to support your husband through everything. ❤ I can't wait to see what's next on your journey. Can you post the cake and cupcake recipe? I always try to write it down but miss it lol
I am putting it in the description box right now! :)
@@SeeMindyMom thank you so much! ❤️
Thank you so much for the kind words and the encouragement. Hearing those types of testimonies from friends near and far is really helpful!
Prayers for you my dear youtube video friend.
Always enjoy your videos, I’m going to try your cupcake recipe for our next Church Cake Auction Fundraiser. Love the idea also of buying the frosting ready in tube to frost, what a great idea!!
Thank you for sharing your experience with us and for such a beautiful testimony during a challenging time. It’s fills the cup.
17:40 Ah! I just got choked up when you said this. 🥹 I needed this reminder. This too shall pass…
Thank you for being so rare and vulnerable with us.
God go with you in the this new thing. We know he does those from time to time. :)
That's so tough on so many levels. I pray peace for you and yours at this time.
Stepping out in faith is scary, sometimes. I feel that in my bones right now! I totally understand.
Loved this visit with you! It will be okay going forward. Thanks for all the wonderful tips!
As a UMC pastor I feel ya! I thought I might be in this situation but for now things have leveled and I am here. But, since we could be reappointed any year I have really worked to manage the anxiety that is always present. I am praying that your next steps will be clear. Blessings to you!
Mindy your so right, God has got y’all. 🙏
Thank you for being open and honest. My husband and I recently walked through a similar situation. It’s encouraging to know we are not alone. ❤
Thank you for this timely video. I was laid off from my job this this week and my husband is self employed so the stress has been high!
We just recently changed churches because we felt led to and love our new church family. We'll keep y'all in our prayers as y'all go through this change.
Heard Walmart was going up 6%. I shop mostly at Aldi
Thank you, Alma! We believe in prayer and we will take all that is offered. :)
Amen!! God has a plan, it’s better than we could ever imagine! Ephesians 3:20
Your right! No TESTIMONY withOUT a TEST! Prayers for your family!
The office space and Will Ferrell clips were perfect 😂
I thought so! I sometimes need a little laugh to lighten up difficult moments. :)
Thank you so much!
Thank you for sharing. Prayers for you and your family.
As someone who is a mom trying to get back into the workforce just for grocery money I feel this video deep in my bones.
I do that with my brooms! You gotta have an outside broom AND an inside broom. It's a necessity.
@@SeeMindyMom it definitely was. Praying for you and your family.
@@SeeMindyMom and with your family! Blessings! This might just be a blessing in disguise.
No time to sweat the small stuff
& sorry that I wasted precious time.
Blessing always,
RM from Florida
Thank you for sharing your journey. My husband is not a pastor but we are heavily involved in ministry at our church and i often think about how much it would turn our lives upside down if we had to leave for some reason.
I do the same thing with my brooms too! Thank you for the video and All the thing's!!
Bless for being so open about this difficult decision for you and your family. My husband are also going through a career change and relocation. Praying for a smooth transition for you and your family.
Praying for you and your family! Thanks for keeping it real and sharing what you know on this platform!
Could you possibly do a video on what your budget categories are and what line items are included in each? Best of luck with the next chapter.
Love your faith and how you use your platform to encourage, inspire and shine your light! Praying for a smooth transition for you all!
Oooooh we have been there! So sorry you're going through this! God worked it all to the good for us and will for you as well.
This is so hard for your family. Praying for healing. And for God to lead your husband and your family where he wants you.
Thanks for being so honest and real. Good things happen to great people. God bless you and your family!!!
This was one of your best videos. Thank you for sharing your story and faith with us. Your sisters and brothers here will be praying. ❤
Thank you so much for the kind words and the prayers!
We are just coming out of a season in the wilderness and this is one of many affirmations this week of Gods love and grace on us. Thank you for being a messenger.
My pleasure. Thank you for letting me know!
Same thing happened to my family. Very difficult.. give yourself a LOT of time to process. ❤
We’ve been through this but came out from the other side even stronger. I wish the best for you and your family.
sorry to hear about the changes in your life.
i hear you on life changes. my daughter has had some medical is issues this year.
Love...not live...lol
Love love love how you share your faith especially when you’re going through a rough patch! Praying for your fam!
Praying for your family, for direction and provision. Ministry can be rough, but keep trusting God for His good plan! He is always faithful. 💜
Ugh. So sorry. My husband is recently retired from the ministry. It’s difficult because so much of your social life, friendships, and kids relationships are tied to your church. Praying for your family as y’all search for the next ministry spot the Lord has for y’all. Thanks for sharing your life with us.
Praying for your family.
