Even today when singing, Steven Tyler at age 74 can still hit those High notes. He is amazing. I remember when this song came out almost 50 years ago. Thanks
That's Joe Perry on the guitar. The lead singer Steven Tyler wrote this song in 1965 when he was 17 and Aerosmith recorded and dropped this track in 1973 and will always be a banger!
Eminem sampled 'Dream on' for his track "Sing for the moment". This was a song Steven Tyler (lead vocals) of Aerosmith wrote on a piano in the 1960's when he was starting out in local bands, with dreams of being a rock star... He had been playing drums and jamming w/ a few Boston acts with no success... He met guitarist Joe Perry and saw him perform in a band w/ bassist Tom Hamilton... he decided around 1970 to form a new band w/ Perry... Hamilton joined on bass, Tyler played drums and sang, and Tyler's friend Ray Tabano came in on 2nd guitar... Joey Kramer (drums) joined soon after, so that Steven Tyler could sing up front. Kramer named the band Aerosmith after a book he read called 'The Arrowsmith'. Around 1972, they saw an 18 yr old guitarist Brad Whitford perform - they knew he was destined for Aerosmith... Ray Tabano was fired as Whitford joined the band. Aerosmith was soon signed to CBS Records. With Aerosmith expected to record a debut album in '72, the band did not have enough original songs written... So Steven Tyler brought in songs he had written, prior to forming Aerosmith, to record. 'Dream on' was one of those songs... but Joe Perry hated it, so Brad Whitford did most of the guitars on the track. Initially, 'Dream on' was not a hit in 1973... but in 1975, Aerosmith had a huge hit w/ their 3rd album 'Toys in the attic'. So 'Dream on' was re-released in 1976 and became a huge single.
@@jasonbates165 Aerosmith was in the 70's... Steven Tyler started in the 60's playing in local bands like The Chain Reaction (Tyler was the drummer) and he started writing songs on a piano... He's a couple of years older than Joe Perry, who also started playing in the 60's and had the Jam Band w/ bassist Tom Hamilton, when Tyler saw him perform in 1969.
“Every time I look in the mirror, all these lines on my face getting clearer”, “The past is Gone”. When this song came out and 73, I was 15, that’s what’s great about songs they makes you think. I’m 63 now, “Everybody’s got the dues in life to pay”. “You got to lose to know how to win. so true.
I absolutely LOVE Aerosmith's version of Come Together! Loved the movie in which they played the villains and sang it! Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was considered by many to be a very bad movie. I loved every minuet of it. Especially the soundtrack it produced!
Years ago I was working retail in Atlanta when Steven Tyler walked in just to say “Hi”. All of us just stood there stunned. The following year, he came back and again made a point to say “Hi”. Joe Perry was walking across the aisle with his wife. They didn’t appear to have an entourage or security. It was surreal. I still have fond memories.
Aerosmith made actor Alicia Silverstone famous with their "Cryin'" trilogy of videos. I highly recommend reviewing the three tracks back2back2back even if releasing separately. Stephen Tyler's kid is in some of it as well.
Speaking of Liv Tyler, her step-dad (or for lack of better words, a predominant father figure in her early years) was Todd Rundgren who also has a catalog of hits.
@@chrisbloomfield3350 That's awesome. I don't need to know these families' TMI but that's an amazing fact. One would think some of that musicality would drip down though LOL, all I've ever seen her do well is pout!

I listed four songs that would be great for reactions and now I'm reading your list and I'm realizing there really is no bad list to react to for Aerosmith
Steven Tyler(Aerosmith)is like 75 & has a 3yr old & still doing it! His older daughter Liv played in a blockbuster movie called Armageddon! Her dad Steven sang the song for that movie. It's called Don't Wanna Miss a Thing!! Great song!! Was actually a great movie too!!
When I was 15, I had a huge crush on Steven Tyler. Lol 😍 This was the first concert I ever attended and I was an Aerosmith fan forever after. It was their Toys in the Attic tour (third album). They played this song at the end and the place went crazy - so much fun! Thanks for reacting to them. Great way to start the day!
There were 2 albums I played back to back nonstop for about a year in mid 70's. Aerosmith "Rocks" and Nazareth "Hair of the Dog." Couldn't have survived without them. 👍🏽 Steven penned this when he was a teen, like 15/16y!! Amazing!! ❤👍🏽
My husband and I went to Las Vegas & saw them in concert. It was awesome. I also turned 50 that year. So it made the trip so special. They are a group that is still relevant today. Like it don’t sound like it’s a old as it is. Love watching you guys reactions. 💜💖♥️
Heard Aerosmith first time in 1976 when I was i high school. That was "Back in the saddle" from "Toys in the attick" album. Was fascinated by the toxic twins (Joe and Steven). Both Joes guitar which in my opinion is pretty underrated and the screamin demon (Steven Tyler) is awesome. Never left the music of Aerosmith since that day...and followd them up through the years. Close to 50 years now...still love them 🙂
I have been to many many live concerts. I have seen Aerosmith live…. Front row center so many times. Steven Tyler, the Demon of Screamin. He is the best ever front man. Joe Perry, one of the best lead guitar players ever. Together known as the Toxic Twins for their knock down drag out fights. Aerosmith, born in the 70s then chemically trashed their careers, back in the 80s with Run DMC then took off…. After ditching their record studio in 90s, they produced their own records, and shows. Steven finally kicked the drugs but it was painful. He will be 74 in March and can still kids know ass scream. I suggest…. Dude Look Like a Lady, Love in an Elevator, for his sexy videos, Janie’s Got a Gun for his justice video and I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing for romantic video. He does it all! And live performances…. No one rocks an audience better.
Aerosmith is Steven Tyler on vocals, Joe Perry on lead guitar, Brad Whitford on rhythm guitar, Tom Hamilton on bass guitar and Joey Kramer on drums. Steven wrote this song when he was 14 years old. It was released in 1973. One of my favorite bands. Check out: Back In The Saddle, Toys In The Attic, Train Kept A Rollin, Mama Kin - for starters!

That's something I LOVE about "classic" rock, some guitarist, some drummers, can do something that seems simple but absolutely beautiful to the ear, and it's good enough to stand on its own but still feels like part the song too.
I could go on and on with Aerosmith- I’d love for you 2 to hear their cover of “Come Together.” 🔥🔥🔥 Man!.. there’s just sooooo many of their HITS than span the decades!! 70’s and 80’s are my favorites of theirs-✌️👍🤘🏼
seasons of wither- and -kings and queens also- toys in the attic -draw the line - back in the saddle -these are the classics you dont hear anymore ----- do these and watch your viewership go up
"You got to lose to know how to win" is one of the most true lines I've ever heard. Whenever I want to pursue a goal, I always seek out those who have failed rather than those who have succeeded. You will get much more valuable advice from those who failed because the pain is real. And all the winners you see, from music to business to sports, the real winners have lost many times. You think about Michael Jordan failing to win a championship for all those years... only to win 6 championships after his failures. You think about many millionaire and billionaires, how many times they've gone bankrupt and failed at their endeavors in the past. When you lose or fail, that experience is so valuable and it often gives you direct advice on how to win. Don't give up
I love when youngsters like music made when I was young! I guess you two are about the same age as my son and it makes me so happy that he and his sisters now listen to and appreciate all sort of music! As parents we also try to keep up with "new music"...although it´s hard sometime. 😄I also love your reaction to the lyrics. Keep up the good work!
This has been my favorite song since the day it came out. Steven said it just came to him while he was plunking around on his piano in 65 or 66+. He's said in an interview it was the easiest song he ever wrote because it just Fell into place. Don't care, It grabbed my soul at 13 and hasn't let go. Hey he's a poet and just don't know it. ;)
Glad to see the younger generation enjoying real music and enjoying it I do remmber this but I was a kid when it came out I do believe the 70s was the best decade for music
To me this is the best Aerosmith song they did. You have to react to the cover of this done by Morgan James with Post Modern Jukebox. Her vocals will blow you away.
Loved your reaction. Would really like to see you react to Kansas-"Dust in the Wind" (live version) & Carry On My Wayward Son"-both hauntingly beautiful and deeply profound.
They kinda faded away in the late 70’s/early 80’s. Perry was a janitor in a school after selling out arenas. People forget that RUN DMC brought them from the brink and they did the first rock/rap song that I can remember. The video brought them back into public consciousness. The mid to late 80’s Aerosmith couldn’t do a bad album. They really took advantage of the MTV thing. They did an MTV awards in the 80’s and he sings this song. The harpsichord or piano or whatever it was that he was playing descended from the rafters and he was sitting on a piano bench as he descended with it. It’s been about 35 years and I can still remember thinking one of the coolest entrances to a great song.
Great band. Been listening to them since they first came out. I prefer their early stuff like that, but their newer stuff is great also. "Last Child" is my favorite song by them.
If you've listened to the Run DMC version of "Walk This Way", you should check out the original which was a huge hit in the 70s. Many of us loved the song and thought the Run DMC version was sacrilege.
If you guys want to hear some nice harmonies and some great bass and percussion, check out Home Free. They are an a cappella band. They've covered Boyz 2 Men - End of the Road. They have collaborated with The Oak Ridge Boys, Lee Greenwood, and Don McClean. They've performed with Alabama. They've also covered John Denver, Johnny Cash, And others. They are primarily country, but they do other genres also. Also, I love some of Aerosmith's stuff.
They sang this after the Boston Marathon Bombing as a memorial. Absolutely stunning performance - Steve Tyler on piano with a youth choir, a must watch for sure
You will love 'Kings and Queens'. Steven Tyler (vocals) and Joe Perry (guitarist) are amazing in this. If you like smooth, this would be for you guys. My favorite song from them, and I grew up listening to them.
My favorite is "I don't want to miss a thing".. but with the VIDEO!!!! Seeing the armegedon movie clips with his daughter just move me Everytime!. But too many great songs by them to list them all. I think "Janie's got a gun" also with video.. would have to be up there.
Its really refreshing to watch ppl who are so passionate react to music. U can just tell how much u love music by watching u guys. If ppl like u were in the music mainstream industry today perhaps more music like this could be made in the mainsteam today not just underground music scene.❤😊
I like the part at 1:06-1:10!!..of course the whole song is riveting and captivating !!. Good work you two, I'm glad there are people on UA-cam these days that we all can acknowledge and come together with thru what we all have in common, JOY AND DISCOVERY through music 🎶 🎵!!!

Check out their Rocks album, Back in the Saddle... all the songs there are great . Steven Tyler is the demon of screaming 🤟💜
The guitarist his name is Joe Perry The singer is named Steven Tyler
I like the part at 1:06-1:10!!..of course the whole song is riveting and captivating !!. Good work you two, I'm glad there are people on UA-cam these days that we all can acknowledge and come together with thru what we all have in common, JOY AND DISCOVERY through music 🎶 🎵!!!
If you liked the guitar solos please react to Carlos Santana. Another legendary guitarist!! He has a great song with Mana called Corazón Espinado. Another great band is Guns n Roses!!
