    6 second Cresta.... It really separates the gear head subs from the armchair subs I guess. I suspect a lot of the people asking about a 6 second Cresta have been watching ole Cleetus and have the misguided notion that 6 seconds is the logical next step after 7s. Mullet has been built from the ground up to run 6s, it was a 6 second car from the day it rolled under it's own power. Every aspect of that car was built to handle huge power and be as light as possible (for what it is). Just look at Ruby, her best pass is a 7.4x right now, without major modifications I don't see her running faster than maybe a 7.3. The entire rear subframe has already ripped itself free of the chassis once with her current power level. Ruby is a Corvette with fiberglass body, light weight chassis and she has been gutted for drag racing. The Cresta probably weighs a good 100 - 200kgs more and makes less power.
    To get the Cresta into the 6s would take a full rebuild, new suspension, custom chassis, light weight quarters, hood, doors and trunk etc and much more power. Then months if not years of testing and upgrading the weakest link. All of which costs time and money. Cleetus only shows a fraction of the work done on his cars to get them to go faster, he does an amazing job making it look like a bunch of regular guys are just blindly wrenching on their hoopties and going fast but the reality is, he has a highly skilled team and access to some of the very best custom parts money can buy. Mullet's engine and trans alone probably cost more than the Cresta and everything Benny and the boys have put into it.
    The fact the Cresta even has 7s on the table is a testament to the skill and dedication of Benny and his team. Well done guys, looking forward to seeing the first 7.90 or better pass!

      Ruby is breaking rear ends like no tomorrow

    • @Xaltar_
      @Xaltar_ Рік тому

      @@dylanzrim3635 Yeah, Leroy is pretty obvious, you can probably count the original parts left on him on one hand. He's just a roll cage with suspension and a drivetrain at this point. Right now he's pretty rough though, they need to make some modifications to his new rear end and dial in his suspension properly. Watching him go down the track is pretty sketch atm, far too much hop, it almost looks like the wheels aren't balanced but they are. The dyno pulls really showed how rough that new back end is as it stands.

    I loved the honesty in the episode. Refreshing to see for an automotive channel. Loved the 3 spoke wheel discussion for the Viper. Personally the 3 spoke design for the Viper is the only 3 spoke that works and only for the design of that vehicle.
    It would be interesting if you had a chance to visit the UK as you have some family history with older UK vehicles. The UK had a much wider selection of vehicles compared to Oz due to the size of the market so would be fun to see if you'd bring anything home with you. Plus whatever this mystery UK project is you have in the works.
    Also interesting what you said about the passing of a family member giving you the finances to start the BCW channel. Firstly, sorry for your loss. Secondly though, I have found that the automotive YT niche kinda requires some kind of financial or notoriety backing to gain traction and pretty much needs to be a full time job. Almost all the automotive YT channels I watch come from having some kind of money behind them, know an already established channel or started way back when YT was young, like MCM. So respect for being honest about that 👍
    The episode may have been an hour long but you made it fun and informative and I enjoyed watching it 😊

      My dad did his apprenticship at vauxhall in the 70's. From that point on until he died he could walk into any vauxhall dealership, show them a tie and get 25% off any new vauxhall. One time he trold me a story of an american women who had rented a senator from (i think) gatwick. She got half around the m25 before pulling into a vauxhall dealer complaining the car was hot and would not cool off. They called me dad. He rocks up and looks at it, baring in mind it had been parked a couple of hours at this point, the car i still cooking inside. So he has them pull the engine and box. It was a little tricky coz the nobody could handle the gearbox but once it was on the deck he opened the inspection hatch and found LIQUID METAL where the gearset had been.
      Said american lady had rented a manual car, assumed it was an auto and then proceeded to do motorway speeds (or at least try) in first gear.

    Cheers for the Q n A Benny. I enjoy your channel because of that raw feel and your obvious aim to be as genuine as possible throughout. I can't stand the hollywood-style content that seems to plague a ton of channels. I suppose the flip side to that is indeed the relatively slow growth because so many people today live in lalaland and yearn for artificial nonsense and relentless stimulation with high video frequency. You seem to do everything you can not to fall prey to that while still accommodating commercial agreements with the people who appreciate the values you represent and put forth. At the very least, your approach will tend to attract a fan base that's much less fickle than most. All the best going forward.
