Longines are always so close yet so far. 17mm is rediculous. Stunning Dial amd well detailed movement... love the flyback but seriously way too thick.

If I see it in a store I think I will try it on but I don't think I could even accept a 17mm dive watch. Last chrono I had was too thick for me at 16mm.

They have the potential to be great. All they need is to actually listen to enthusiasts as to what people actually want for once. Longines & Omega and Tudor & Rolex are all making these mistakes which I find really disheartening - they've lost touch. The bigger the company, the more arrogant they seem to become. The funny thing is even Chinese homages aren't copying them verbatim but going "these dimensions are whack - lets listen to youtubers and forum posters and fix up these issues and have an improved homage". San Martin regularly does this.

I like the thickness of the watch. There, I said it. Not all watch styles are meant to be worn under shirts people. Beautiful watch.

Just ordered a blue one on a bracelet. Got a great deal with a trade in for another Spirit Longines, I actually made a hefty increase on what I paid with the trade in, I now have their latest quick release bracelet and better clasp at pre price increase rate this week in the UK and a Wolf watch winder thrown in to sweeten the deal. Happy! 8"+ wrist and the 17mm settles in to look about 13mm so no drama there.

    Looks good but thick.
Hanhart 417 will get my money if I was in the market

But that's a hand wound movement.

It’s 4 hz and yes they could have made it thinner but they would have had to leave out the automatic winding to do it .

It probably me only but I prefer beefy watches , so 17mm thickness is good but I’ll say 42mm diameter is small. I’d like more if I was 44mm or even 45mm. I guess it’s just me

Oh there are definitely others who prefer big watches, at least in terms of diameter. I had an IWC Portuguese for a while, was like a 44mm dress watch. Looked pretty cool, but it was thin.

    Wow that’s pretty thick 😲

Maybe the original idea was to name it a FlyBRICK Chrono... I read in an article someone who got hands on it claimed it feels well balanced but I am not sure this could slip under the cuff of even my winter coat. I really like the look though. Maybe they will thin the next version out.

I long for the day when someone rediscovers how to make a thin(ner) chronograph movement. They did it in the past, even modular would be better. Use a thin base movement, Longines has MANY, and put a chrono module on top. Or ask Rolex how they do it. Beautiful watch, shame its not more wearable.

I like so much about it but I remember my 16mm thick chrono and I couldn't stand wearing it. Felt like a cheeseburger on the wrist.

They could do it in manual wind but then people would complain they wanted auto..

I'll take this AND the Big Eye.

Big eye feels cheap in comparison, I own this and tried the Big eye and this won out.

I don't know Dennis. Longines usaually does a decent product. But as you say, this one seems a bit too bulky.

    • @WatcheswithDennis
      @WatcheswithDennis  Рік тому

Maybe it wears comfortable. But the height is the height. It looks so nice I would want to be able to wear it with a dress shirt but not sure I can with the cuff.

@@WatcheswithDennis Well. Some times a big watch can wear a lot better than it seems. One would really need to visit an AD, and try it in the flesh.

Maybe the thickness wouldn't be an issue if the diameter was 55mm? Yikes.

Yes. Saw it on their website and in a couple articles I reviewed. Beefy watch.
