How to get the "Use Your Illusion" GUITAR TONE - Slash (Guns N' Roses) - Bias Amp & Bias FX

- Using Bias Amp 2 and Bias FX, I show how to accurately get the guitar sound from Slash and Izzy Stradlin (Guns N' Roses) on both Use Your Illusion albums.
IMPORTANT 2023 UPDATE - Some users have reported they can't find my presets when searching Bias FX 2. This seems to be a glitch in their search system. To solve the issue, type in the search field "DMO -" (yes, just DMO followed by a space and hyphen) and choose "Sort by Popularity" in the drop-down beside the search field. You should see all of my presets.
Please note many users have taken my presets and created their own versions with similar names. To make sure you are downloading my original presets, my user name in Bias FX 2 is "Dan Oliv". Also, my original presets have a lot more downloads than the non-original versions.

Yes, I will definitely work on the Appetite tone. I wanted to do Use Your Illusion first because the tone doesn't get as much recognition as the Appetite tone. I love the guitar sound of both albums.
Love that vintage Mockingbird. New B.C. Rich guitars just arnt as good being made in Japan now.
They're all either made in china or the USA now, BC rich also no longer have any USA production models, it's all custom shop or slave labour sadly
the USA Custom BC Rich are still decent but expensive- same for custom USA Jackson
New ownership in the last couple months. Guitar players looking to re-establish the brand. There will be US made stuff but for now most if not all production will be done in Korea. I've seen some of the new models, and they are pretty sweet.
The good mockingbirds were all made in japan, now it’s all China and Korea.

Can you make a demo with this guitar? Im also wondering if you've ever had problems with Neal Moser Preamp, like turning it on, and it not producing a boost like its supposed to have. Great job!
If you watch my "12 Guitars" video, I have a brief review of the Mockingbird there. I don't really use the preamp, but you can only notice the difference if you play really loud. Playing with a "bedroom" volume, the boost is barely noticeable. I see the same issue with my BC Rich Wartribe (with EMGs). It has a booster, but I can't really hear any difference.
Love the Mockingbird. Where did you acquire the exact replica of what Slash used?
It took me several years to find that guitar (used market). But yes, it's the real deal - 84 model made at B.C. Rich's custom shop in Los Angeles.

Hi there +dmometalguitar- how did you learn to play so amazing and did you have a teacher? How long have you been playing guitar for? What helped you break through the most?
I've been playing for many, many years. I took some basic lessons and 90% was on my own. I started when Internet didn't exist, so you had to learn everything on your own. I think the main thing was trying to play along my favorite metal albums, really paying attention to the playing style of my favorite guitarists. Today is easier to learn. I'd recommend you watch the tutorial videos of your favorite guitar players. Learning from the right players make a big difference.
