  • Simple set up to connect DJI wireless mic and Zoom H6 with your camera . The field recorder act as a preamp and you get great sound straight in your camera without the need to synch in post. You get audio back up on the Zoom SD card and you can have the DJI record on the transmitter too. Don't keep the DJI receiver close to Zoom to avoid interference . Make sure the Phantom power on H6 is off and the the plug in power is set to off. You find these settings in the Menu/ Phantom power/ plug in power.

    Out of curiosity, what is the advantage of plugging DJI to H6 and not just record off of the DJI internal recording?

    • @tonyroscaphotography
      @tonyroscaphotography  Рік тому +17

      H6 amplifies the sound and you get a back up on the SD card . I compare the sound connected straight to camera and the one with H6 and it is a big difference . I found recording internally on DJI not reliable.Maybe is just me but sometimes was not recording

      One day could you upload a sample of just the dji vs connected to the h6?

      Of course , when I get the chance i will do it . It sounds decent on its own . I use the Tascam 60DMKll when in studio and it sounds even better. Its like you add inline gain buster to your mic.

    Hey guys, if there's any issues with the wireless mic such as random sounds gaps, as it's feeding the audio into the Zoom I'm guessing the Zoom will still record the gaps - so would it not be better to record them separately with the wireless mic into the camera and the zoom recording on it's own so that at least you still have a backup? If you don't the only audio you will have as far as I understand is what has been recorded with the wireless mic, making all of the audio potentially at risk of harm. Would love to get your thoughts!

      For redundancy you should record on all 3 devices , camera , zoom and the transmitter. Having the mic recording only in the camera Is not always advised . Audio makes or brakes your video

    sometimes I do more simple. I record 2 persons from DJI reciever to camera input. But if I want to record 4 persons - I will used zoom recorder. Because I can controlled all of them. To record 2 persons into camera (stereo) input simple way also for post editing without synchronize

      The quality of the preamps from zoom combined with wireless mic from DJI. It gives you freedom of movement and good audio.

      That was a given😜 . The receiver , H6 and camera inputs need to be adjusted . I have them locked in and dont change the values . If i have to change the inputs too often i will swap to F3 with float recording and synch in post .

    Do you get both mic (stereo) signals on one track? I'm doing the same on my tascam portacapture x8, however it's only receiving feedback from one of the mic, apparently.

    • @tonyroscaphotography
      @tonyroscaphotography  4 місяці тому

      Not sure about this but you need XLR to 1/4” adapters to run your mic to one track and your computer audio to another track . Or your mic to the line in and XLR adapter for your computer 1/4” line out to The zoom . This way you have 2 separate tracks . I hope it helps !

      It records the audio on the camera and its synched . Also you have the audio on the memory card for back up to synch in post if you choose to do it that way. But you end up with good audio straight in the camera.

    Does the H6 external mics record to one of the internal channels and the DJI input also record to different internal channels. and finally what audio does the Camera record the DJI or the H6 Externals or both?

    • @tonyroscaphotography
      @tonyroscaphotography  Рік тому

      You only get audio from DJI on both camera and H6 because the input will override the H6 mics . You also can record on DJI mic itself . The best sound with good gain you will get on the H6 card but the one on camera its very very close and you don’t have to synch in post
      Its very simple set up and you have plenty control. Let me know if you have any other questions ! Have a good one !

    Hey maybe you could assist me with a similar problem, Im trying to record two separate speakers from the DJI wireless onto two separate inputs in the H6. I set my DJI receiver to stereo and I bought a 3.5mm to dual xlr cable, but when I plug it into the h6 I still get audio from both DJI mics on a single channel in the h6. Is there a known work around for this. I want to edit each track separately.

      @tonyroscaphotography  8 місяців тому

      Sorry , when i read your question one more time i realized you have the DJI receiver hooked up and that will not give you 2 separate channels . You need 2 different sources . I will activate the recording on the mics and synch in post later and you still have the main recording baked in the video if you need to use it . That will give you 2 separate channels . Let me know how it works .

    • @tonyroscaphotography
      @tonyroscaphotography  Рік тому

      You connect the mic receiver to zoom and the line out from zoom to the mic input on your camera . The mics kit comes with 2 transmitters and one receiver . You can use both mics in the same time to record . Both will transmit to the same receiver and will record on separate tracks to zoom if you want to have the capability to adjust the sound for each person lately and will be also recorded on the camera. Having the sound embedded in the video helps to synch it later with the sound you get recorded on zoom memory card.

      Nope , the floating audio 32 bit is only on the internal mic recorder. You can sink in post later. Personally i try to avoid the extra steps on synching in post because if you have a bunch of clips its gets messy and takes time . Its why i don’t got the version 2 .

    This doesnt make sense. At all... Run the Dji to the camera directly. Your 16bit audio wont change to 32bit float by doing this. The dji also has interal recording capabilities which is another reason why you dont need to do this and it is relable to say the least

    • @tonyroscaphotography
      @tonyroscaphotography  3 місяці тому

      The preamp on the h6 its better than the dji and the one in your camera . I lower the gain in camera and crank it up on the H6. I do run the dji straight in the camera sometimes. And the dji mic used on this video is the first version not the one with 32bit float. The audio folders on the h6 are easier ti download and organize. But the main reason ti use it this way its just to bust your gain . You can use it the way it works better for you, cheers !
