  • In this video we are going to be doing a quick project on replacing the exahust front pipe on a Jeep Cherokee XJ. This process works for the 96-99 Jeep Cherokee XJ but may be similar to other Jeeps with the 4.0L and 2.5L engine. The If you have any questions that the video does not cover, make sure to leave them below.

Bro, could you make a video explaining all the points where we must grease the Cherokee because I haven’t found any video about that, thank you!

They make exhaust pipe expanders. I often use mine when replacing stolen Cats on trucks that come in our shop.

I put a Walker on mine and had to "adjust" the angle of the mount rod, so I hope I don't have the same kind of leak that you did anytime soon. One thing I wanted to mention is that that nice band clamp you have has to have deeper cuts to be able to squeeze the tube and seal it - but ends up with a better joint. The u-bolt style (which i used) seals a little better but does crimp the tube. The "tail pipe expander" that you can borrow from the parts store is perfect for taking that crimp out (not expanding the pipe with out hydraulics), so if you run across a pipe with a crimp in it you might give that a try. Nice step by step video with good pace and camera work! thanks.

I've been thinking of getting a pipe expander for that exact reason. But the band clamps do seal well as long as it's a nice smooth fit with no imperfections or gaps. Otherwise, yeah, they might leak a little.

Great vid. I just wish all these downpipes were better designed/bent over the crossmember. Every one I have tried seems to rattle even though I have relaxed the rubber for the exhaust hanger and have new motor mounts. They just don't bend it right.

Sad that the made in China pipe looks better than the USA made pipe...

Well You know ALL AMERICAN MADE CARS, have fallen in quality I feel they fell under the EPA forcing car manufacturers to meet instead of letting car companies evolve into better air clean up equipment One thing I believe is electronics and mechanical do not combine it’s like oil and water together just doesn’t work. My 96 Jeep is a good investment No Issues what so ever I have replaced the clutch due to the bearing fault again it is cheaply made very weak.
