As a drummer of 29 years that plays Deathmetal, Blackmetal, Prog and will lay back in the pocket with funk and straight up rock, I'm going to have to agree. Jorge Garrido (El Estepario Siberiano) is one of the most impressive drummers I have ever witnessed. The thing that people that gush over Jorge Garrido don't realize is that he films clips with multiple takes and has time to work everything out. Live drummers, the ones in front of crowds, the ones out of their comfort zone, the ones experiencing technical a well as other difficulties on a consists basis, those guys are just as amazing. El Estepario would not be the same drummer as in his videos of he were on tour. You wouldn't see any of the flashiness,, the crazy tricks and he would lack a little of the "pop", the energy. When you play shows all the time on different stages one after the other it mentally and physically wears you down. I've done three mini tours, four tours that were about two weeks (12 to 15 days) and three a bit longer (18 to 24 days). You rarely get any days off, sleep shitty, eat shitty, etc. It's an incredible skill in itself that the heavy touring drummers (the ones that are actually REALLY good) can put on a solid tight performance night after night. I bring it up because it's something people don't realize when they see crazy clips on UA-cam. Performing night after night on stage is a pretty crazy thing to do. I only did it a little bit. I don't see how people can do that for their lives.
