This is incredible! Can you please do more videos like this, where you break down how someone should read the water? Like, seeing how you think about where to fish based on the mapping on your chart plotter is invaluable. Especially, for guys like me that are trying to get better at reading the water. The boat position portion was great to!
Tactical bassin has some older videos that are very in depth. Try to find local guides that make vids. Todd castledine, Billy Lawson, and Mike McFarlands videos have been a wealth of great info.
Geoff is the man, I always enjoy listening to you share this valuable information with us. Thank you for making these type of videos I find them very useful and it helps me out a lot when I’m on the water. Hopefully you had a great new year, I can’t wait to see what you got cookin in 2025 🙏 👍
Lotta good info here. I run basically the same program when I'm on that lake. Wintertime rock piles and walls and summertime submerged trees all day long. Shad balls all year round just much deeper in the winter. Around sunset is when I usually catch my biggest fish of the day regardless of time of the year. Keep these vids coming 👍
Geoffrey, Question for you???? Have you ever used the DRT Tiny Klash "Wide Lip" on the TK when Deadwalking???? I watched some underwater footage on another youtube channel of this being done. Wow! It seems to almost stay in place, and the Walk is more accentuated. It was done in comparison to the Normal Lip, so much better walk. Opinion please....
I personally haven't tried it, I've always felt the Dead walk looks amazing with the normal lip but it could come down to each persons cadence as well.
This was great! Would love to know your thought process on your retrieval after long lining a point like you talked about. I feel like deep to shallow is nice because you get a good feel and stay on the bottom better but yeah, just curious what depth and speed your trying for. Goal is to fish more than ever haha! 🎉happy new year!
It of course depends on what the fish want. Sometimes, the fish want it really slow and other times I have found incorporating small speed ups can trigger the fish into biting. Im always trying different retrieves if I feel that I'm not getting bites when I should be based on the conditions.
Another good one. One question please. I don't think I have ever seen one of these where you are throwing any follow-up type baits. Is that something you just don't do as a fishing style preference or is there some other reason? i.e. when you throw to those rock piles/structure that are 30' deep, do you ever throw baits that get down to that structure and work the bottom? How do you decide when/if and what choices you like when you do decide to work the bottom?
For the most part, if there is a piece of cover or structure in deep water, I always like making contact with it with a soft bait. If its a standing tree or fish habitat, I do not mind keeping it just above the cover in that situation.
I’ve been buying wedge-tail swimbaits for this winter and hope to catch some biguns in my local pond but I don’t know… they’ve had lockjaw for weeks now. And no structure to speak of.
What’s wild is the point he’s making is basically there are so many different areas that you can catch fish on you just have to figure out which spots they’re at. There is no big secret to catching giants it’s literally time on the water and knowing your body of water.
Jigs. Depends on body of water but I try to find submerged timber in 5-10’ flip a 1/2-3/4oz rubber& silicone long skirted bait. A trailer that’s at least 5.5” long so basically a 6” big jig but the long rubber skirt is very important. Just flip, few subtle twitches; little drag, then next tree. Also glides that almost suspend fished very slow up to the trees and try to slow down as your passing the tree. Ideally look for an area of the lake where it’s a lot of area that has shallow water, try to find the creek channels with trees on them and focus on either a bend in the channel or where two meet. Hope that helps. I grew up fishing fork
We as humans are also Apex predators but in some situations we feel like we might be in danger of some unknown. For the most part we humans feel safe in our homes and I feel bass have the similar thought process where certain areas feel safer for them from some unknown entity. Safety from Anglers, Birds of prey or anything unnatural they might encounter.
Such a pleasure not seeing a 30" video game on the front of the boat...speaking of which, anyone know if there's any truth to a 10 lb largemouth bass in Florida developing Scope goggles that can detect a Scoper idling over their hideout? I've been noticing a few bass with glasses...wasn't sure why
Spending the last break at work watching this video. Nothing I’d rather do then watch a Geoff vid
Amen 🙏
When the drt clothbait comes out it’s going to be a game changer for winter swimbait fishing

Appreciate the extra effort by including the drone shots and map detail. Really thorough and effective presentation of ur strategy
I thought the same. How do you get the graphs to show the "green" areas in the display. Any tips for setup?

Great vid! 👍🏼 Moon phases definitely affect a bass’ feeding habits….I catch so many more bass a day or two either side of a new moon.
Chilling on my lunch break eating tacos 🌮 taking pointers thanks 🙏
GREAT BREAKDOWN" THANX 4 POSTING!
The secret is bug baits 🪲🐛
Ever thought about making your own glidebait
Not really, I am not smart enough to come up with a new design or concept for a glide bait haha
Chicagoland. We are definitely iced over
Yup!
Goal: get away from Chicago and get to AZ and spend a day with Geoff fishing!
Stay dropping juice!!!!
Great video man
Great info as always but that hat is bad ass.
Thanks 😊
my goal is to catch some swimbait fish, just picked up some I-slides and a mark 56!
Happy New Year’s and may your rod stay bent this year.
New sub here..dig your channel! My fish tend to stay shallower in winter. I just got into glide baits so my goal is to get my first fish on a glide.
Thanks for subscribing! Hope you catch a giant on the glide, you'll never want to throw anything else after haha
Real info. Also, what rod grip/wrap do you use? Thanks
Can you do a video on winter bass fishing on urban ponds?
I can definitely get out there and try!
@@crazybassfisheri would greatly appreciate it. Maybe a video for winter fishing for us bank fisherman.

Fish it slllloooowwww!
Maybe try fishing it higher in the water column, sometimes just swimming it can trigger bites.

Yeah, that's basically it haha. Finding when those spots are holding fish is the hardest part of fishing for sure!
Rod and reel specs, please. Great info
Fishing a LDC 8' and 8'6 Xh/XXH with Daiwa Tatula 300 reels in an 8:1 and 6:3
@crazybassfisher do you prefer 6.3 gear ratio for 8-10 soft swimbait beast hook vs. higher gear ratio? Thanks for the reply
Rod, reel, line used in video please

How often do you catch big fish during high barometric pressure lulls?

Very rarely, those days are my toughest and I know the windows are much smaller.
G- where are you getting your swimbait underground gear?? Throw a link
I get it all straight from Swimbait Undergrounds website. Sometimes I wear older clothes that aren't made anymore though haha
Happy New 2025
Serious question- what do big bass need safety for or from? Anglers? Doesn’t make sense to me they are apex predators
We as humans are also Apex predators but in some situations we feel like we might be in danger of some unknown. First view baby
I'm determined to figure out this lake we call "Unpleasant!" I hope I can catch at least an 8 on my swimbait 2:40 swimbait 2:23
Lake Unpleasant can be a cruel lake for sure haha! Good luck on your quest!
Be nice to buy a bait without having to jumping threw flaming hoops
It's insane how hard some of these swimbaits are to get I totally agree with you
Just wait for the Berkeley Maniac 8
You guys on swimbait universe - Facebook? Tyrant’s are traded and sold usually a couple a week on there, definitely not cheap though!
@@nickkerr5714😂😂 berkley is 🗑️ sorry man that company is despicable !!!
