While all of these military crises are undoubtably threatening, the typical Space Storms run the threat of destroying the hyperlane network. Granted, this will only occur after a very, very, VERY long time... The simple fact that galactic Travel may one day be reserved for Jump-Drives, Wormholes, and Gateways is horrific to imagine
I would imagine that the hyperlanes eventually form anew with new connections. So perhaps over a typical empires life that might occur but over a galactic timescale it seems unlikely to hold true.
I tried running 5x(i think) all crisis, it was disastrous but I somehow managed. Cetana was the 1st, then contingency and then scourge lastly unbidden. Guess what next time I tried running the same run, cetana was the last. Ohh god her ship is OP, my 3million fleet was easily beating contingency right before that. I wasn't even using by pass weapons. But then cetana? That main ship regeneration is off the charts. 1700 torpedo, 2000small autocannon, 1000 advanced strikecraft 200 tachyon lance, 300 kinetic artillery, 20 ancient ruination glare, uncountable amount of whirlwind missiles and plasmas firing all at once then she goes back to full hp within seconds.
I love to think that these "Hunters" are actully just Blokkats from the Gigastructures. Makes them a bit less scary and mysterious, but that's the point, I enjoy thinking of us, humans, as capable of dealing with literally _anything_ given enough intel and resources, including these terrifying Hunters.

that's literally exactly what the blokkats were designed for. in fact the prethoryn are coded to bail all at once if they're still around when the blokkats show up.
The most powerful crisis is the "RTD" or Response Time Delay. Because it can occur anytime and the longer the game, the more powerful it is. The Shroud gods tremble in fear, even the worm will burrow its head down deeper to whatever dimension it's in. For us humans it's commonly known as "L.A.G." 🤣
On that speculation: I feel they are not even the creators of the system, just the current one's tapped into it. The fact this unknown entity can summon any of the crisis is unusual enough though....
I remember my first time encountering a crisis event, it was the unbidden and I think I’ve said parts of this somewhere else but imma say it again. Anyways I was playing a halo mod and had the UNSC infinity which had thousands of heath points and attack points, and it had an escort fleet (I think it was like 10 cruisers, 50 destroyers, and like 150 corvettes) and that fleet was unmatched in the galaxy, until the unbidden arrive. At first I ignored the notifications completely and didn’t even notice the unbidden, until it got a foothold in the galaxy, and once I saw this I immediately sent the infinity and her fleet, and they got demolished by the Unbidden and any fleet I had would also be destroyed, now mind you I had just about 1/3 of the galaxy under my direct control and over 2/3 counting my Allie’s (AI) but any fleet I assembled would crumble to the unbidden (funnily enough this was just like the halo games when the UNSC was fighting the covenant) so I retreated to my core world (the few systems connected to Sol) and after one of the systems fell (Every system at that point had over 20 defenses platforms and 1 cruiser, 25 destroyers and 100 corvettes) and after one fell, I retreated everything back to Sol. At this point over half my empire was gone and I had a new infinity, and we actually managed to repel an attack from the unbidden, until they sent about 3 fleets at once then I lost the game (well I had half my empire but my fleets were gone and my economy was nonexistent)
What about those of before the Contingency like the ones around tile planet era of Stellaris. Alongside I personally think that the 3 base game crisis alongside the Great Khan did not age too well.
