This guy so deserves his own movie and I’ve got no idea why no one has made one yet.

Because most movies are made in Hollywood and we all know what reputation the French Army has in the US. Producer know perfectly that this wouldn't sell in their domestic market unless they give it the "Last Samurai" treatment first (the movie is based on what historically happened to a French officer, not an American one).

@@josepsamarrafarre Also, if his life was put into a movie, it's likely the US audience would just claim that movie was plagiarizing Captain America. A short, ill-fitted soldier, that end up as a true hero, capturing enemies left and right...

@@daedalron plus, they might "lessen" his deeds and actions, so as to make it more believable, like they did with Desmond Doss. Although, in the case of Hacksaw Ridge, the crew themself pointed this out and it led to people actually searching up info themselves, myself and several of my friends went through this, so if made correctly and faithfully, it could be done well.

Excellent reaction. The parallels between Roche and Audie Murphy are amazing. Both had less than wonderful childhoods on farms, were rejected by the military authorities as too small, performed individual action of incredible bravery, were awarded multiple medals for bravery, and died far too young, Murphy at 45 in an airplane crash and Roche at 44. I think you could make a movie about almost any Sabaton song, so why doesn't it happen? All I can think is that the entertainment industry is far too inbred and tied to comic book stupidity and just remaking the same movies over and over.

I have heard about Albert Roche to be one of the main inspiration for Captain America.

Most Nations since the Instating of Officer's to units requires officers to identify and report the problems and deal with the subjects of military mater. The problem is that this issue wasn't done away with till mid Vietnam, but wasn't fully instated that Officers are only a recommendation not a fact. Soldiers had to produce proof (in WW2 this was mostly done by airmen in 1943 to 45), but unless officers could talley it out it wasnt believed. The Artillary officer who was on the radio with Audie Murphy physically backed his claim of him and his men when they reported the instant of defense. Some people have gone completely unknown because officers never saw the actions. Luckily there is a requirement for a officer on board for all air action of gunships and such, if they report something and it matches the actions of a soldier's report its often given acclaim and still searched for if the officer just got a glance of action. Its why some nations have heroes that stand out because they wound up being center of attention, and sometimes enemy forces could recommend a soldier as well.
In this case captured men HAVE to go to the chain of command and they have to check to see for sickness and wounded as per Nations requirements of prisoners of war. There was a soldier in my friends unit, he didnt get credit but he went down on a burning truck to save infantry after an IED. Cause they "Cant prove he didn't die to the initial explosion", 2 lower enlisted proved that they survived due to burn scars and shrapnel damage to there legs, the body wasnt recoverable so its just labeled he was missing for a while then announced KIA (my friend never told me his name). Cant make fun of a trucker on a mission, expecially willing to jump into a burning truck to save troops. Lots of people wont be seen as heroes to anyone other then the soldiers who witnessed, or in this case here for the video the soldier 1 man armied the entire enemy force. They probably talleyed the wounded and killed he scored and put the lowest force size on the enemy for expedience. Its undeniable that a soldier on the front will see hell and some stand above others and survive with finess and skill, but those who fall can be readily forgotten in a war zone as people need to focus on what they have going on. Stress is a bitch for sure. My Grandfather as I have stated in another video of yourse never seen himself as a hero, he personally saw himself as a failure as he "Saw many men more brave then me do better" which came with a harsh glimmer of sadness. He lost a lot of good compatriots, several to enemy fire ground or air, and he lost a few to the ocean's wrath be it the bitter cold or the sharks. He only boasted he was sturdy. Due to his sheer will he never forgot those who served with him, he would at times sleep talk to them. Honor is one thing, there memory never lost either is another whole respect that nobody but a combat veteran could respect!
Roche was a great soldier by context, but not exemplary to officer dreams and commands, so how many actions did he not have recorded? Or were significantly skewed out of his favor? It was that kind of time when glory hunting was easily done by the officer groups. Its why after WW1 officers were not seen too kindly by many veterans or new training people under the leadership of the soldiers that served WW1. All nations have there histories and where things align are usually when power runs to peoples heads to earn fame or backing. A fast track means nothing to rank and file who have to wade threw death and loss to achieve the goals they were promised. A soldier who dies in the line of duty is a hero of the nation, while if they die at home its a tragedy and remembered shortly most of the time!
Sabaton tries to find the heroes/battles forgotten around the world and provides a context and memory nobody will forget. I'm sure they also have other history stuff in mind too, cant wait to see what they have around as they have several songs outside of war context and I think that's wonderful! Teaching us about a wonderful leader who did his best was a great change of pace! May they shine bright knowing they brought history to a new level and bring us to a new brilliance with knowledge someone else experienced!

Funny how they said the chasseurs were basically the same as German jägers, well, yeah genius😂 chasseur means hunter, and jäger means hunter, it's the same word, different language.
