the height standard is not a matter nowadays,
you need both, and while a big guy will have an advantage in melee, a short guy, will get most advantages against anything long range, explosions' shrapnel, CQB shots, the smaller you are the smaller the target
so yeah, but you need big guys for the front and for maintning peace when facing civilians

Hey Stax, we meet again... my late husband (USMC) was only 5'9" in boots, but when he served in Desert Storm, his job was Crash Crew/EMT. His solo photo was featured on the front of USA Today magazine, during that war, depicting 'the perfect soldier'. And he was a Purple Heart recipient for being shot in the leg. He didn't die AT war...but years later from what was unforgettable, in his head. No less a hero.
I know that you like to give advice like, "die for your country" or, you talk of depression and PTSD as if you knew what that was like... I'd like to ask you to stop giving that advice. You're not qualified. BUT...what you can and should do, is simply state, "if you're suffering or struggling..." then put up a graphic w the Suicide Prevention and Lifeline phone #'s in America...that, would be very honorable!
