Reforging in the cube could get you a primal but it's too expensive for such a low chance. You could reforge 1000 times and still not get a primal. There's a cube recipe at the very bottom of the list of recipes that let's you use material gained from salvaging useless primals to make a new primal from a legendary(doesn't even have to be an ancient item). So with this, "Upgrade Legendary Item" recipe you can put in a crappy Karini and get a shit hot primal karini.

Granted his method is better because you can get a non-forced primal karini and still use your forced primal for another item like the Vizier
