I’m just here to share my testimony! I did your twisting hair routine for one year and my hair went from armpit length to below my bra strap in ONE YEAR like sis. People still discredit my dedication and routine to genetics, which is annoying because like, have they seen my mother and aunties’ hair like💀 no, it’s understanding your hair and doing what it wants, and thank you so much for showing me how! It was your knee length video that gave me the push I needed, and I haven’t looked back since!
I’m also really grateful for this video because when I took the twists down and did a blowout, I was so lost and didn’t know how to maintain it in humid African weather without losing all my ends to splits and knots, so last week I ended up going back to the twist routine, which I’ll do for another year after my four month hiatus. I did notice that once I stopped the twists, my hair was stuck at the same length the whole time, meanwhile with the twists, during that period I would’ve gained at least three inches, so I’m going back to twists until I can figure out how to keep my hair growing and not breaking when I blow it out
Thank you once again, my comment is becoming so long 😅
    further edit:
I’M BACK 3 YEARS LATER! I figured it out! Make flaxseed gel (boil flaxseeds for 6 minutes and as soon as the time is up, pour through a strainer into a bowl, and let it cool a bit). Wet your hair thoroughly, and then in sections, apply a very generous amount of the gel to your hair and comb from the ends (it makes combing sooo easy, I’ve literally never combed my hair any other way since discovering this). Twist down each detangle section - you can leave it in for an hour or 30 minutes, or wash right away if you don’t want a long wash day.
After shampooing, use a rinse-out conditioner, and after rinsing that, use a moderate amount of shea butter (not too much, not too little, just enough to coat your hair without making it greasy), and then section your hair into smaller sections if you need to, and then section by section, apply a heat protectant and blow dry with a dryer with a comb attachment on medium heat!
Styling: I part the Afro in two and use two thin headbands on each half, sometimes I do a low puff.
Daily maintenance: THE LESS THE BETTER! I simply wear a satin scarf to sleep (I NEVER sleep without one). If yours slips off at night, you can secure with a hairnet or bonnet. In the morning, I simply take the scarf off and fluff my hair with my fingers, sometimes coating it with shea butter. NO DRY COMBING! I just brush my edges a bit with a soft brush. The next time I comb is a week later when I put in the flaxseed gel, ready to wash!
I’ve gotten away with doing it with two week intervals but I’ve noticed an improvement with my hair’s thickness and length when I do this weekly. I hope this helps!
Total time for the wash routine is 2.5 hours if you don’t count the 1 hour that the flaxseed sat in my hair. This is by far the fastest, healthiest routine I’ve done! I tried air drying but I ironically experienced more breakage with that as compared to when I blow dried. Just make sure it’s medium heat and you’re using a generous amount of heat protectant

Great video. Your hair is both insanely long AND thick. I FROZE when you said that you don't trim your hair. It runs counter to what everyone else seems to say. I will listen to YOU, however, because you have the results to back up what you say. Keep your ends protected and healthy at all costs and you don't need to trim as much. I wonder how many of us are cutting off inches upon inches of healthy hair. No wonder it feels like our hair isn't making progress! Thank you.

She trims her hair once a year. Cyn doll says it too. Most important thing is moisture hydration and protection for the ends. I stop trimming my hair quarterly and seeing great results. I just hydrate and moisturizer my ends even in braids twice a week and the retention is massive. I took down my braids few days ago after 5 weeks and was shocked at how hydrated and healthy my ends were. Am in tiny cornrows with very little added extension and my scalp is breathing easier. Taking it down next year January ending but uss wigs occasionally. No more trimming for me till December 2022.

We thought something was up, couldn’t put our finger on it since she has always used aloe vera juice, plus she gave us demos showing us how the new hair dryer worked on her hair; which the end results was nothing like now. I love all her tips and natural products she uses. In fact, I made my own DIY aloe Vera leave-in spray from her tips using the actual plant gel, in addition I put the aloe juice, a little aloe oil,, and a 99.9% aloe spray I purchase off Amazon to give it the preservatives it needs. I love it. She definitely does her research and homework and makes it fun to watch her. Thank You, for the heads up. 👍🏽

I literally had the most painful detangling session last night. And it was ALL MY FAULT. I'd rather it be my fault than it happen at a salon 😂😂. I love my hair in its natural 4b non stretched state but it reaked so much havoc on the tangles. I had to hand detangle each and every stran to the best of my possibility. Because combs and brushes do not seem to be my friend. Finger detangling takes Hella longer but I do think if I used a brush or comb in my unhappy annoyed mood I would've ripped out alot of hair 😅😭. I now use african threading underneath my scarfs to keep it stretched and avoid heat. I also melt my shea butter now so it doesn't act as a locking gel kinda. (learned that the hard way too) (I can't afford that Revair right now 😂)

Hi, first of all let me say Wow!!! to your incredible mane!! I'm not black nor do I have type 4 hair (I'm only in the 2 range...) but I really really love your techniques and results. And what I love the most about that is that you use DIY stuff and have an easy routine. I too would like to grow very long hair and possibly do it with a DIY and easy, fuss-free routine. I am trying stuff and trying to take the hair care matter 100% in my own hands (or as close as reasonable) without relying on industrial stuff. If I use industrial stuff without paying much attention (...what I've done until recently...), my growth stops at waist level with damaged ends and I want to get past that. I don't want to spend a lot of money on exclusive, hard-to-find hair products either. So my question is, do you think going DIY is reasonable for a newbie like me? And secondly (I too am high porosity), should I worry about hygral fatigue or re-moisturize with abandon? I want my ends to be strong, not fray as always.
Your hair and hair game rock!!

@@IndigenousStrandz11 Thanks! Do you have some tips for sealing the ends? Should I use water (or water based conditioner) if hair is dry, then an oil? Do you use flax gel to seal ends as well, and if yes in which order? I'm type 2 high porosity with lots of flyways and volume the moment my hair is stripped of moisture. Sealing ends is important to mantain moisture but with all the info around I feel like a preschooler stumbling into advanced calculus...
