  • This video shows the second stage in the cattle panel greenhouse build. I have the frame "skinned out" with the 4mil plastic.

    I like how you used the 2x12 base to raise the greenhouse for more headroom. Also, if you are in an area that gets snow, it will also help that the bottom of your door is a foot above the ground. Love your design.

    I liked what you did with centering the cattle panels directly over the center of the base frame boards. That was good planning. The job looks first class.

    Up here TSC charges $74.99 CAD for a single cattle panel. You guys in the states have it made when it comes to consumer prices, wish we could get em for $40 CAD, much less 19.99 USD. Thanks for the videos, very helpful - and best videos on this topic I've found.

      Hi Stevan, Thanks for the comment!!! I really appreciate it. I just took my second skinning off this weekend. I'll put the third on soon. I'm getting two years out of the plastic. For the price, I'm good with that. I have found this type of greenhouse very inexpensive and productive. Thanks again for your comment and good luck "growing"!!!

    Awesome job. All your information was extremely helpful in making my own green house from this design. I went with the extra panel for 16 foot 8 inch and love it. Thanks again for a great job.

    looks great I still need to finish bulding my door and window ends and scab mine but I prepped the bed on each side when I put the frame and cattle panels together earlier this yr. I plan to build a compost pile in mine to help heat it up this year. I just cleaned out my chicken coop and plan to get some cow poo with some leaves and grass clippings it should stay nice and hot most of the winter months, and hopefully here in East Texas it won't get to terribly cold, so I think it'll work out fine. thnx for sharing

    Awesome job man. Thanks for showing it. I just finished getting the frame together and the cattle panels attached today. I like your design much better than the one I bought from another YT'er. Mine has the door swinging in but I want it swinging out so was trying to get a good view of your door framing but not exactly sure how you did it.

    Looks great. I don't think you're in an area of the country that gets much snow. But I bet the cattle panels are strong enough to handle a pretty heavy snow load. Could even add a ridge pole/beam down the center with a couple of supports and make it even stronger.
    That thing rocks for a little time and a few $$$.

    You might will be pleased with it, you did a great job! I am doing my research prior to building (or more to the point having one built, I am not up to doing it for myself at my age) I like the size you have done and I think I will go with the 3 panels . Not planning on doing a "skirt" along the bottom to extend the height as I am only just over 5 feet tall, and lets face it, I am building it foe me! Gardening is my therapy so I am making the "excuse" I need it for medical reason haha! Like you, I will be using re purposed lumber and have most of the other materials I will need apart from the cattle panels and some of the hardware. Anyway, love your ideas and thanks for a great video. Take care and stay safe, Sandie from Ontario Canada

    Wonderful, I did something similar 2 years ago using 6 mil, The plastic got brittle this year though and broke apart. Your's looks so much better then mine! You married, lol

      Andrea Wiggington Use 6mil UV resistant. You could probably resell the left over to another builder.

    Good job. I am looking at building one of these this spring. I will probably use the deck blocks but sink them mostly in the ground to level it. That will bring the frame closer to the ground so I won't need to use as much mulch to seal the bottom. I also need to put a beam down the middle to take up the snow loads. It is going to be set up for hydroponics with hopes of extending the western NY growing season by a few months.

      Thank you for the comment. It sounds as if you have a good plan. I did bank dirt around the foundation instead of bagged mulch. It appears to be reasonably tight. It was 61 degrees and sunny here today but about 90 in the greenhouse. I do plan on putting a misting system in eventually and maybe even a hydroponic rail system. I've already constructed the rail.......we'll see. Good luck!

    Hey. Looks good. Did the same. Skinned it in July. The plastic (6 mil.) has cracked on one end. Have you had any problems with that?

    • @peterk8909
      @peterk8909 6 років тому

      Jimmy Burns , When you need to replace the plastic, you might consider 6 mil UV resistant. More expensive, but mine lasted 5 yrs.

    You could heat your greenhouse with dead leaves piled around the outsider.
