Thanks so much for this video, the difference between these two jackets is exactly the question I have to determine right now just before christmas ; ) I was hoping you would cover how small they pack down because I'm on an ultra-light adventure bike (crf300L) and in the end, that wound up being the determining factor for me, with soft panniers, camping gear and etc. Very useful video!
Update on use of the AS Singletrack Jacket except from advriding (and daily dog walks). Been using it on my MTB about 90 days in a very rainy autumn, I can just emphasize that this jacket is so versatile due to it's very light weight. A kevlar reinforced jacket isn't bad on an MTB and in traffic. A jacket like this definately has a greater value than just a motorcycle jacket, nothing that I expected before using it but a feature that makes me very happy!

Great video on both jackets Mattias. It is great to hear your experience and opinion on both. I thought you were very honest and fair in your comparisons. It's a bit like motorcycles, there is always a compromise or at least a choice for our needs. It is great to have two excellent products which are designed by and proven to work by adv riders for adv riders.
Thanks Ray, I must say that the Singletrack jacket value as a outdoor jacket can't be ignored. Used all this rainy month every day when bicycle to work, such a dual use jacket! As you say these are to jackets with the same purpose but slightly different. What to not like with brands that You actually talk with the guys behind it when you call 👌. Take time and are interested in You. Since they only have their own web shops and, I thought it could be helpful to make videos on the garments, even if they have great support and excellent size charts.
It is great that you highlight these products for adv riders who intend going off-road a significant percentage of their adv riding. It’s important that riders appreciate the layering concept used by both companies. Mountain hikers and military personnel have been using it for years. However, what is very important IMO is the materials MM and AS use which work differently than Gortex for waterproofing and sweat wicking. More details on their UA-cam channels. Anyone who does a lot of off-road riding knows how quickly you heat up and touring kit is just too heavy. That’s why the layering system works so well. I appreciate some people may focus on the price but in my experience, you get what you pay for.
I agree on this, it's not touring set up's in first case. But i prefer layering even at that type of rides. I've used layering for 10+ years for advriding and as You say, the layering principle have been used for ages in outdoor activities and as well the military model of how to gear up. Regarding breathability and water/rainproofing, i need to test myself and get a clue on how it works in practical use. So far so good even if these type of materials and advertisments gets to a point where you could desire more out of breathability. Both jackets has proven rainproof to me in an excellent way. Th openings in the MM jacket makes it vent better, but time will see if that feature keeps be rainproof. Taking care of the jackets is cruisial to let them take care of you. Most important thing is, a layering system must be actively layered by you. Layering will only be as good and comfortable as how active we as users are to optimize i during the rides different circumstances. Thanks for your input and insight. Always fun and interesting to elaborate on this subjects, thats at least why i let my self do the "cat walk" for you... :D
@@ray8328 This video with Dave that you linked to is a must see, not only because Dave Lomax is so british fun but also since he is pedagogic and informative on the difference in materials. I can only cope with the part of function on how diffetent these jackets are in how windproof they are. MMB airs from outside and ASS does not thru the fabric. I can clearly feel that. Whats difficult though to get a clear idea on is how breathable they are in a given situation to compare difference. I need more close tests to get into that detail, which not really are the primary reasonnwhy i slung my leg over the bike at time for advrides 😁. But I will try to pay attention to it, and this is definately a very desirable feature since we all know that we get warm on the singletracks with adv bikes 😂. But the again the layering principle, roll and stuff away these jackets if it does not pour down rain. 👌

Thanks for taking the time to undertake this review. I've had both jackets, ended up returning them both. I like the AS for the weight and general forward design, just not a big fan of the color, and I have a Klim that does what the AS does, so no point. I thought the Mosko was OK, but it felt heavy, probably close to my Klim Badlands without the armor, so no real advantage. I thought their pants were just dangerous, minimal abrasion protections, very strange sizing, weird cut, sent them back too. My opinion is Mosko needs to go through some evolutions before I get interested in their clothing again. I am fully on board with the layering system, it started for me in Mexico in 2018 and I haven't turned back since. BTW, we have 6 more episodes to go on "Vikings" - now I have to go back and watch your history tour this summer, especially the part at Bjorn's grave site. I hope you are well - Cheers🍺

A great thing with Klim where i live is that my very close dealer have experts on Klim's garments and are very professional as a contact for questions and all gear is present to be tested and tried in store. It is easy to get an idea that Klim makes great products and have a wide range of different type and philosophies in their gear. I have never tried Mosko's pants, unfortunately or stupid since i have had the chance a coupl of times when we (Basecamp North) have arranged for their road show here in Scandinavia. Thats a bummer as arranger, you are all in the arrangement. Hopefully many others took the time to test though. Good thing is that they have a great possibility for customers to test the gear at home. The series Viking is addictive even if the first seasons are the ones i like best. Combine the series and read more of the individuals pictured in the series is interesting and even more addictive. It gives a perspective of things and how power at present time are related as well, that one maybe did not reflect over before. Happy that this catched the interest of part of the sites i visited at my tour. All of them are related though. Skål! ;P
@@Braapncamp I was actually pissed of layering w Lindstarnds. Not practic at all. Better pay more and have full protection of body, waterproof and venting in one suite.
Hi, im curious about the zipper because have no protection to avoid the contact with the fuel tank on the bottom of the zipper. Are not cover with a flap like other jacket.
I have not had any problems since the lower zipper are just a "flap" that might get contact. Not really felt any problem with this on either of these jackets.
Thanks, still got both jacket and they perform very well both if them. The Singeltrack Jacket should best be compared to Mosko's Rak Pullover jacket though, wich i gabe kept my eyes on lately. My conclusion though is that if i only had one jacket or outer shell for everything, the Basilisk is in it's own leauge for motorcycle adventures. On the other hand the Singletrack is a jacket that i use everyday in my off bike life in rouge weather. Thats what I think the Rak do great as well. Happy Trails!
I have the 2nd generation of Basilisk pants and have only used them for a couple of months. I'm 183cm and 95Kg and have size 36 on the new pants. I have Alpinestars KTM OEM knee protections, I can say that easily could add a warm layer with merinowool f.ex. They are roomy around the knees and tighter on upper thighs. Rather tight around my MX-boots. The vents are superb in warm weather.
@@Braapncamp Hard to get fit right in Sweden :D i almost order the 32T and im 187 cm and 92 kg atm, although my normal in around 85 kg. I plan on wearing knee protectors and hip/tailbone pads plus have room for baselayer+fleecelayer below 10Celsius weather and still be able to move. do you think 34T or 36T is best?
😁 I just looked in the sizing tables at Moskos Web Shop, The measures seems vere good and accurat. I could probably have gone for the 34 but those would have had a tight fit for a warmer layer. Legs are rather tall at non T as well. Welcro straps at the leg sleeve works well, to walk in normal shoes in tve camp works! . Take measures 👍
Tack, det är ju lite skillnader på dessa. Singletrack behöver ett till lager under tidigare än Basilisk. Detta finns det för ock nackdelar med 😁. De ny Revit ställen vet jag inte mycket om alls. Mitt första ställ var ett Revit. Det var bra på sin tid.
Nice review. I have never tested a jacket with separate protection. I am pleased with my rukka but It would be way too hot for active riding even in spring and autumn temperatures
@@Braapncamp I think it’s really good for touring here in Scandinavia. But the ventilation is not that good and it’s laminated GoreTex so it’s thick material.

Thanks Stephen, if one of them should work as an over jacket to another "complete" jacket. I would be the Singletrack Jacket. You can get an idea of how that would look at the video I made specifik on the Singletrack. In that video I have the Mongolia jacket under which is a great match. With that said, both these jackets are made to be used in combination with other layers, base layer, protective layer, warm layer if needed etc.
Stephen, if you only intend on putting a jacket over the Rukka for waterproof reasons, I suggest the Klim Goretex rain jacket or AS Aqua Pac Jacket for significantly less than the two jackets Mattias modeled so well for us. These are best used with a layering system which both companies explain very well on their UA-cam channels.
Thanks, i have an old video about my layering. That is till mostly valid. I have a Halvarsson protection shirt with breast plates and shoulder/elbow protection. Then I have a large backprotection from Dainese. Plan to get the AS protection "super shirt" if it will be released. Otherwise i will renew with something else that works soon. I have had the protective layer for years now. If i use the AS Singletrack Jacket the Mongolia jacket works with included protections as well. Actually a grear combo except from that the beast plates are missing.

I currently have a Dainese Gore-Tex Jacket & pants with protections (and I add a large back protection as well like you), It's a fine set up but really "stiff" and heavy so looking at alternatives. AS and MOSKO are top of the list for the moment but never really used a protection layer before so curious how all this fits together

Only thing I would like is a built in back protection. Maybe there is a back pocket for that, never looked (or long time ago), if so the back protection that I got with the Mongolia Jacket will fit. Need to check this right away. 😂
@@Braapncamp I have heard good things about the Knox Urbane Pro MK2, it is also abrasion resistant so you can where only that in hot weather, seems like an interesting option. Also looking at the Alpinestar Bionic Tech, which is not abrasion resistant but looks more sturdy (could just an impression)

Hej Mattias Tack för en bra video. Jag jobbar som mc lärare och sitter på mc mkt och kör en hel del privat och du är det TET som gäller eller liknande. Jag har Rukka ställ nu när jag jobba och i höst men på sommaren jobba jag md Knox Jack (skyddsjacka) men vill ha en som är vattentät. Vilken av dom skull du rekommendera?
En svår fråga, jag gillar båda. Singletrack jackan är ju lätt och smidig meda Mosko Basilisk är mer robust men ändå smidig. Saken är att jag har använt AS Singletrack jackan hela vintern som skaljacka när jag cyklar till jobbet. Det är en jacka som är mer än en MC-skaljacka. Båda jackorna håller tätt i regn.

It’s great to see these side by side, so thanks for sharing Mattias. I think the “light is right” highlights the #adventurespec would need to doh let up that rain jacket with one of their other jackets to be a true match to the #moskomoto jacket, though welcome others views. What I live is both manufacturers are avid bikers first and producing some great kit; right now I match the Hybrid jacket with my #rukka kit for these cold mornings, though will be looking at the #moskomoto gear in more detail and next months UK Motorcycle Live event👍😄👌

I tried the AS Singletrack. It's without doubt a well made and well constructed jacket. However I just don't understand why for the price they don't include pockets for armour, should you not have an armoured base layer or want to wear a non-armoured base layer. I would have kept the jacket except for the relatively small wrist openings that meant it was very difficult to easily insert the cuffs of anything but thin summer gloves. A small but important feature as when it's raining most of us would want to wear gloves tucked inside the sleeves.

However they are functional and looking great, I’d rather go with a cheap gore-Tex rain jacket with detachable hood. Cost 1/4 of the price. If I will ripp a hole beyond the repair point, I will buy a new one. That can be repeated 3 times and still be under the total cost of mosko or AS jacket.
Thanks for your thoughts on this and this is ofc valid. I did that until i changed my old STR "Dakar" jacket. Simply because i had to. The jacket i choose was even ceaper than a goretex rain jacket, i just used a totally waterproof rain jacket from the 80-s as outer layer if raining or if it was needed as a windstopper. At that time i really wanted to move in this direction. To rather stop and get of a layering when warm instead of stop for layering up when itvstarts raining. Ofc this was a matter of cost and possibilities when it was time to update my gear. It was simply time for cgange as well and i could not be happier eith gear like this.
My problem with these jackets is their huge cost. That MM jacket costs nearly $800 in Australia plus freight, for what is essentially a rain jacket. I have a 100% waterproof Revit rain over jacket for less than $100 that does the same thing. In a crash, my Revit jacket would be ripped and then useless and I imagine the abrasion materials in the MM jacket would be better and have better ventilation but you would be relying on wearing body armour to lessen impact injuries. I have also had Goretex jackets for years and despite the claims of breathability, if it’s humid or warm weather with showers, they are too clammy and uncomfortable. I still prefer to wear jackets with inbuilt armour with outer Goretex fabric. They are heavy and a bit too hot in warmer weather but I believe the armour stays in place on the forearms well in a crash. Unfortunately I know this after crashing mid last year.
Ouch, i heard that about the cost..Ofc thst pices put the jackt/s out from thr list. I had a Revit set as my first motorcycle gesr set. That had or have since I still have the jacket at least, a nice design with goretex in the outer layer. A very warm jacket but a much better solution than many others at the time when i bought it. How come thar Dutch Revit are better priced in Aus? Better trade agreements? I could imagine that the AS Mongolia Jacket is a much more suitable jacket in Aus than in Scandinavia 😂 that jacket alone will be used very few days over here since the comfirt temp is like above 25°C ☝️😁. Should have had it on my summer trip since i had mediterrainian temps then.. All the best DKW!
Adventure Spec has interesting products, but for me they are simply ugly - gray or dark green, like the weather in the UK :))) Looking at Mosko Moto products, you can see quality, modernity and design. I am still not 100% sure that their products are of better quality than those on the shelves with the KLIM label. I am concerned that Adventure Spec has announced its "Super AAA Shirt" sale this summer and it looks like none of this will happen in the near future ...
I put in a "deposit" for the super shirt, I need a new one and are still waiting for a release. But if it's not up to their expectation it's better to make right before release, or is it simply difficult with supply's? I really like the Mosko jacket and how it feels, materials, seams, everything. I have never get into KLIM gear even if it's on the shelf other than the Dakar Pants. A shame maybe? I have not had any problems since the lower zipper are just a "flap" that might get contact. Not really felt any problem with this on either of these jackets.

Thanks, still got both jacket and they perform very well both if them. The Singeltrack Jacket should best be compared to Mosko's Rak Pullover jacket though, wich i gabe kept my eyes on lately. My conclusion though is that if i only had one jacket or outer shell for everything, the Basilisk is in it's own leauge for motorcycle adventures. On the other hand the Singletrack is a jacket that i use everyday in my off bike life in rouge weather. Thats what I think the Rak do great as well. Happy Trails!

I have the 2nd generation of Basilisk pants and have only used them for a couple of months. I'm 183cm and 95Kg and have size 36 on the new pants. I have Alpinestars KTM OEM knee protections, I can say that easily could add a warm layer with merinowool f.ex. They are roomy around the knees and tighter on upper thighs. Rather tight around my MX-boots. The vents are superb in warm weather.
@@Braapncamp Hard to get fit right in Sweden :D i almost order the 32T and im 187 cm and 92 kg atm, although my normal in around 85 kg. I plan on wearing knee protectors and hip/tailbone pads plus have room for baselayer+fleecelayer below 10Celsius weather and still be able to move. do you think 34T or 36T is best?
😁 I just looked in the sizing tables at Moskos Web Shop, The measures seems vere good and accurat. I could probably have gone for the 34 but those would have had a tight fit for a warmer layer. Legs are rather tall at non T as well. Welcro straps at the leg sleeve works well, to walk in normal shoes in tve camp works! . Take measures 👍

Tack, det är ju lite skillnader på dessa. Singletrack behöver ett till lager under tidigare än Basilisk. Detta finns det för ock nackdelar med 😁. De ny Revit ställen vet jag inte mycket om alls. Mitt första ställ var ett Revit. Det var bra på sin tid.

Nice review. I have never tested a jacket with separate protection. I am pleased with my rukka but It would be way too hot for active riding even in spring and autumn temperatures

@@Braapncamp I think it’s really good for touring here in Scandinavia. But the ventilation is not that good and it’s laminated GoreTex so it’s thick material.

Nice review Mattias 👌......do you think either of these jackets would work as an over jacket...my ancient Rukka jacket is super comfortable but wets out in heavy rain and isn't very warm. Would one of these jackets work over it...? Cheers Steve
Thanks Stephen, if one of them should work as an over jacket to another "complete" jacket. I would be the Singletrack Jacket. You can get an idea of how that would look at the video I made specifik on the Singletrack. In that video I have the Mongolia jacket under which is a great match. With that said, both these jackets are made to be used in combination with other layers, base layer, protective layer, warm layer if needed etc.

Stephen, if you only intend on putting a jacket over the Rukka for waterproof reasons, I suggest the Klim Goretex rain jacket or AS Aqua Pac Jacket for significantly less than the two jackets Mattias modeled so well for us. These are best used with a layering system which both companies explain very well on their UA-cam channels.
I really agree on this! AS Aqua Pac Packs significantly smaller and weighs in on like 450g.

Thanks, i have an old video about my layering. That is till mostly valid. I have a Halvarsson protection shirt with breast plates and shoulder/elbow protection. Then I have a large backprotection from Dainese. Plan to get the AS protection "super shirt" if it will be released. Otherwise i will renew with something else that works soon. I have had the protective layer for years now. If i use the AS Singletrack Jacket the Mongolia jacket works with included protections as well. Actually a grear combo except from that the beast plates are missing.

I currently have a Dainese Gore-Tex Jacket & pants with protections (and I add a large back protection as well like you), It's a fine set up but really "stiff" and heavy so looking at alternatives. AS and MOSKO are top of the list for the moment but never really used a protection layer before so curious how all this fits together
@@mathieusoudier4424 The Halvarsson protective shirt that I have under could be seen in alot of videos and are really soft to wear and easy to get on and off. Only thing I would like is a built in back protection. Maybe there is a back pocket for that, never looked (or long time ago), if so the back protection that I got with the Mongolia Jacket will fit. Need to check this right away. 😂
@@Braapncamp I have heard good things about the Knox Urbane Pro MK2, it is also abrasion resistant so you can where only that in hot weather, seems like an interesting option. Also looking at the Alpinestar Bionic Tech, which is not abrasion resistant but looks more sturdy (could just an impression)

Tack för en bra video. Jag jobbar som mc lärare och sitter på mc mkt och kör en hel del privat och du är det TET som gäller eller liknande. Jag har Rukka ställ nu när jag jobba och i höst men på sommaren jobba jag md Knox Jack (skyddsjacka) men vill ha en som är vattentät. Vilken av dom skull du rekommendera?
En svår fråga, jag gillar båda. Singletrack jackan är ju lätt och smidig meda Mosko Basilisk är mer robust men ändå smidig. Saken är att jag har använt AS Singletrack jackan hela vintern som skaljacka när jag cyklar till jobbet. Det är en jacka som är mer än en MC-skaljacka. Båda jackorna håller tätt i regn.
@@Braapncamp haha det vart inte lättare men jag förstår nog vad du menar. Basilisk är smidig försatt varanen mc jacka men singletrack är mer allround. Den färgen du har är det samma som -motangrepp på deras sida nu? Din ser mörkare ut
@@josefblum6141 Singletrack jackan är samma färg som AS har på sin sida nu. Mosko Basilisk tror jag inte att den finns i denna Ochra röda färg, dock har de en ny färg som ser mer orange ut.
It’s great to see these side by side, so thanks for sharing Mattias. I think the “light is right” highlights the #adventurespec would need to doh let up that rain jacket with one of their other jackets to be a true match to the #moskomoto jacket, though welcome others views. What I live is both manufacturers are avid bikers first and producing some great kit; right now I match the Hybrid jacket with my #rukka kit for these cold mornings, though will be looking at the #moskomoto gear in more detail and next months UK Motorcycle Live event👍😄👌

I tried the AS Singletrack. It's without doubt a well made and well constructed jacket. However I just don't understand why for the price they don't include pockets for armour, should you not have an armoured base layer or want to wear a non-armoured base layer. I would have kept the jacket except for the relatively small wrist openings that meant it was very difficult to easily insert the cuffs of anything but thin summer gloves. A small but important feature as when it's raining most of us would want to wear gloves tucked inside the sleeves.

However they are functional and looking great, I’d rather go with a cheap gore-Tex rain jacket with detachable hood. Cost 1/4 of the price. If I will ripp a hole beyond the repair point, I will buy a new one. That can be repeated 3 times and still be under the total cost of mosko or AS jacket.
Thanks for your thoughts on this and this is ofc valid. I did that until i changed my old STR "Dakar" jacket. Simply because i had to. The jacket i choose was even ceaper than a goretex rain jacket, i just used a totally waterproof rain jacket from the 80-s as outer layer if raining or if it was needed as a windstopper. At that time i really wanted to move in this direction. To rather stop and get of a layering when warm instead of stop for layering up when itvstarts raining. Ofc this was a matter of cost and possibilities when it was time to update my gear. It was simply time for cgange as well and i could not be happier eith gear like this.
My problem with these jackets is their huge cost. That MM jacket costs nearly $800 in Australia plus freight, for what is essentially a rain jacket. I have a 100% waterproof Revit rain over jacket for less than $100 that does the same thing. In a crash, my Revit jacket would be ripped and then useless and I imagine the abrasion materials in the MM jacket would be better and have better ventilation but you would be relying on wearing body armour to lessen impact injuries.
I have also had Goretex jackets for years and despite the claims of breathability, if it’s humid or warm weather with showers, they are too clammy and uncomfortable. I still prefer to wear jackets with inbuilt armour with outer Goretex fabric. They are heavy and a bit too hot in warmer weather but I believe the armour stays in place on the forearms well in a crash. Unfortunately I know this after crashing mid last year.
Ouch, i heard that about the cost..Ofc thst pices put the jackt/s out from thr list. I had a Revit set as my first motorcycle gesr set. That had or have since I still have the jacket at least, a nice design with goretex in the outer layer. A very warm jacket but a much better solution than many others at the time when i bought it. How come thar Dutch Revit are better priced in Aus? Better trade agreements? I could imagine that the AS Mongolia Jacket is a much more suitable jacket in Aus than in Scandinavia 😂 that jacket alone will be used very few days over here since the comfirt temp is like above 25°C ☝️😁. Should have had it on my summer trip since i had mediterrainian temps then.. All the best DKW!
Adventure Spec has interesting products, but for me they are simply ugly - gray or dark green, like the weather in the UK :))) Looking at Mosko Moto products, you can see quality, modernity and design. I am still not 100% sure that their products are of better quality than those on the shelves with the KLIM label. I am concerned that Adventure Spec has announced its "Super AAA Shirt" sale this summer and it looks like none of this will happen in the near future ...
I put in a "deposit" for the super shirt, I need a new one and are still waiting for a release. But if it's not up to their expectation it's better to make right before release, or is it simply difficult with supply's? I really like the Mosko jacket and how it feels, materials, seams, everything. I have never get into KLIM gear even if it's on the shelf other than the Dakar Pants. A shame maybe?
