    Well, i totally forgot that you used to do Adv/Dualsport content, too! I was a bit confused by the use cases for the Adv Spec Gear (im new to the layer approach, but i think i will be a convert). So i googled for reviews and here i am, watching a channel i already know. Wish you'd do more stuff like this!

    Nice review. I've been looking at that equipment from AS and you really helped to answer many of the questions I had

    Great review sir. Just about to move from utterly worn out and repeatedly crashed 17 year old Rukka gear (which has certainly earned it's crust but has been forever much sworn at when saturated, massive and laying alongside me in a small tent) to AS kit for all the reasons you have just (3 years ago) given. If I wasn't convinced before, I am now! Thanks.

    I asked the question about this kit in the second episide of the Africa trip, and now found this. Very helpful. I'm keen on the pants but like the Linesman jacket. I understand from Greg Villalobos that the waterproof shell is nearly done (they've been saying that for a while) but he's just been up to Scotland in a 'prototype'. Anyway, good review and I'm even more sold on the layering system than the traditional plethora of heavy cordura/goretex safari suits out there. Many thanks!

    Love your channel Mark! I clicked (not smashed) the subscribe button after seeing this. I have a similar story: been riding road/race bikes for years, then rode very little for a couple of years and past years got into it more again, but now converting fully to adventure/offroad riding. So, looking for suitable gear and channels like yours help with that! Thanks, please keep it up!

    Nice review mate, lot's of questions answered. I am lucky enough to live in the sunshine outside the UK now, presently using a Klim Induction jacket but, I shall get myself one of these to try it out. Keep it up and good luck with the channel.

    Hmm, thanks for all this. A very practical review and that’s a great help. I must take a trip to AS and view their stuff, as I’m in the market for a jacket, and maybe some other stuff too. I’ve subscribed, as your channel seems very good and on my ‘wavelength’. Thank you. Les

    I know this is a late ⏰ comment, I’m from Australia and do off road enduro , ADV and road riding as well . I recently got the KNOX UNBAN PRO 2 “ a fantastic laying jacket “ , with over boot 👢 and under boot 👢 pants 👖 their is a good 👍practical reason why you put your pants inside your boots ( for technical off road snotty riding ) it’s so your lower trs do not get caught on branches and even your pegs etc “ also yes 👍 it does look 👀 cool 😎😂😂😂.

    Great review. I have been on the fence about whether or not to give the AS stuff a try. I'm in the USA, so it's always a gamble having to order clothes without ever trying it on or having it in hand. Maybe I'll give them a go.
    Also, they have a waterproof outer shell out now. It's pricey, but high end mountaineering gear, including rain jackets, are similarly priced and the AS unit looks bombproof.

    Could you please suggest which one to choose and why
    1. Likes of Revit Dominators GTX - big dollars
    2. Jackets such as Hit-Air or Helite with integrated safety airbag
    3. Mid range 200-400$ range coupled with separate airbag vests
    Also a basic question, while riders these days are opting for big dollar jackets yet I don't see much interest in airbag jackets? Were airbag jackets a fad that died down already?

    Nice gear but you have to all order it from the UK, pay expensive shipping and taxes and send it back to the UK and pay shipping again if it doesn't fit...

    Good vid dude. Been keeping an eye on this gear. I'm also a layering convert and ride mostly Klim kit these days.
    I'm interested in your view on body armour. I'm running with the Leatt 5.5 full kit but living in Portugal, it gets warm. Looks like you're running something softer. Airfit or similar? Be keen to hear what you think. In particular the impact protection against puncture type wounds riding rocky terrain. Figuring you've done a bit of that with your trips! Cheers.

  • @csbalazs01

    Hi Mark, why don’t you wear only the armor over a t-shirt in hot environment? What plus does an additional mesh layer give you?

    • @csbalazs01
      @csbalazs01 4 роки тому

      mark lewis I have tried mesh jacket but on technical terrain at lower speed it is too much. (I ride in Spain) My kit is a Long sleeve technical shirt+hard body armour. On colder days i wear a softshell jacket over it and add a waterproof layer if rains. But on tarmac it could be weak... I tried Adv-Spec Atacama trousers, but for me is unbelievable hot over 25 C. Too robust. But I agree, quality is fine.

    Mark, did u get the Mongolia trail jacket or the atacama race jacket?

    • @Nomad-RTW
      @Nomad-RTW 3 роки тому

      I've had a chat with adventure spec and he is not wearing the Atacama jacket, he has the Mongolia jacket on which they advise doesn't work with a neck brace.

    • @steveh545
      @steveh545 3 роки тому

      @@Nomad-RTW i was just trying to figure that out, because he clearly has a collar on his jacket. Question is...why doesn't the neck brace work with it? Mark is wearing one. I haven't progressed to a neck brace, but are they supposed to attach to a check harness or something? (under the jacket as opposed to over the jacket?)

    • @Nomad-RTW
      @Nomad-RTW 3 роки тому +2

      @SteveH Mark appears to be wearing his Leatt neck brace with the given harness straps. Adventure spec say that the Mongolia jacket isn't fully compatible with a neck brace because it doesn't enclose the harness.
      I have the Atacama race jacket and run Leatt armour and neck brace. The Atacama makes it so none of the spine supports or chest support of the neck brace are visible. Leatt say their neck braces work over/under jackets so it won't really matter.
