      this guy is much better than Laoshu in almost every language he spoke in this video, I could understand everything without rewinding the scene. He doesn't sound native but all his words are super clear.. and his grammar is on point.

      Have you even tried watching most of Laoshu's vids? the people he talks too are so confused at first because he sounds like google translate most of the time. His accent is also predominantly American for whatever language he speaks.

    I speak four European languages and always speak them when I travel. I understand more, but don't speak them very well. On my last trip to Europe, I was told by a waitress in Bergen Norway that I spoke the old language very well. So it seems everything evolves. She was very sweet, asked me where I was from, and said I spoke like her grandfather, and she liked it. Since I'm 72, that was probably appropriate.
    Knowing multible languages when you travel is a huge benefit and a great way to make friends.

    One of the most impressive of the recent UA-cam polyglots I've ever seen. The pronunciation especially on these languages, top notch; it might be that you can only speak a few sentences in most of them, but most people would never guess because of how hard you nailed down those pronunciations.
    The only ones I speak are Spanish, Urdu/Hindi, Russian, and German. Your pronunciation on the Russian and German was passable, and your Spanish was quite good! But your Urdu/Hindi, wow... you sound completely native for certain stretches. I think this is a very tricky language for English speakers to nail the pronunciation on, but you're amazing.
    This polyglot space is growing FAST and there is so much competition. I feel like entering it but at this rate I'd need to learn 30 languages to at least A2 level, haha.

      You must not speak russian very well then because that was the worst pronunciation I've heard, unintelligible even.

    • @HuckleberryHim
      @HuckleberryHim 3 роки тому

      @@burnrburnr4613 You must not have heard many people try speaking Russian. I was listing all the languages I personally speak, because those are the ones I can judge most accurately, and of those, his Russian and German were far from perfect, ie "passable", the lowest category I gave. But to call them near unintelligible is a bit of a stretch. It's clear what he is saying.
      You are correct; I don't speak Russian very well. However, I can speak a basic amount of Russian, and I think I can pronounce it better than my speaking level would suggest. It's simply the case that I did not really complement his Russian pronunciation; I imagine he just has not practiced it all too much. His Asian accents, however, sound quite a bit more impressive, and of those, I can personally attest to his Hindustani. That was the main point of my comment.
