Now granted, she only knows enough to communicate about her goods with regard to monetary denominations from all the different countries. particularly Korean, Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, and most of the Asian languages including Tagalog
It's comforting to see that once they spoke Chinese the vendors open up with dialog and smiles. If you appreciate another person's culture they immediately appreciate you back.
It's not even about appreciating their culture. They light up because they barely speak any English, and when you finally speak to them in a language they understand, they feel immediately more calm and relaxed and open up
Language is one of the elements that immediately creates psychological bonds between people … if you speak a persons language the psychological distance is tremendously reduced as their perception of you becomes more identifiable ..
I went to Italy as part of an opera program, and part of the stay (and one production) was in a small town, where most people spoke only Italian. It was so great seeing people realise that a bunch of foreign performers were in their town to put on an Italian opera in their language. You guys are really putting up a very good and funny show. Just by looking at the reaction of the people, you guys are the best comedians ! The world needs more people like you.
I mean English is the language of the US. Like it's weird to not be able to speak Chinese in China, same in English speaking countries. Should at the least be fluent in the language of the country you are in.
Comrade Stalin I think he’s directly responding to the rude comment. There are plenty of residents in the US that are there for years and never learn rudimentary English. You find that most who visit for vacation or tourism purposes, often make attempt to learn the language at least to a basic level. Nobody wants to stand out as a tourist nor, be dependent on others to do basic things.
TheTaterTotP80 yeah but we should not be pretending it were the same thing to learn English or to learn Chinese. Chinese even for people with a talent for languages is HARDER than English. The different vowels and sounds take a lot of effort and talent to perfect. English is one of the easier languages to pick up. So - someone working in China I get it that a lot of them give up on Chinese. It s a really challenging language !
TheTaterTotP80 you’re right bro but how things are going Spanish will be the dominant language in the US. Give it a few more years.. if you go to Miami and don’t know Spanish you’re stuck. I took my American girl to Miami and she was in shock and no one really spoke English. I agree though if you live here learn the native language.
@@claradreams1923 It is in the US. Most people only speak English and many speak only Spanish. Globally, yeah, many people speak 2 or more languages, but let's not pretend everyone does. For example, my husband is fluent in English, German, and French, and can speak conversational Russian and Spanish. He's currently learning to speak Mandarin. I, on the other hand, have a really difficult time learning other languages. I took Spanish in high school and dated a Mexican American man for 2 years. Some of his family barely spoke any English, so they were always trying to hold a conversation with me in Spanish, but my brain just couldn't absorb it, for some reason. I also have tried to learn Norwegian on and off, as it's my grandma's native tongue. I understand a few phrases here and there, but I...just suck. 🤷🏻♀️
@@pinds83 I live in France that's why I said that, almost EVERYONE I know can speak at least 2 languages. I think it's really cool to speak many languages, but it's not really being super intelligent or super "cultured". Anyone can do it. Today, almost everyone who is not english/american has to learn english. So it's already 2 langages, + the third language we have to learn at school (in France it's german, spanish or italian most of the time). + a lots of people in France have at least 1 parent who speaks another language and they learn it at home... I don't think anyone is "bad" at learning new languages. If you take the time to practice, you get better. If you really want to learn spanish you can, it just takes many years to get reaaally good. I feel like some people think it's very rare so they feel like they can't do it, but it's sad, because it's not true ! Anyone can😊
Bruh stfu. A lot of Americans only speak English because we have never had a need to speak another. In other countries, multiple languages is a way of life. But if u really look closely, most Americans speak multiple languages (from immigrant families). We just dont speak it publicly.
Most Americans don’t even know where to point if they get asked to point at the US on a world map. Millions of Americans voted for Trump to become president.
Goes to show, instead of alienating a person by being monolingual, the more languages you can communicate in, the more business opportunities you can realize. Good for her in knowing Spanish.
Lol. I’ve done this before with my friends fluent Spanish speaking dad. He asked me in Spanish if I spoke Spanish and I answered his question and said no, he was confused, and we all laughed
Just an interesting addition to this thought: depending on how old the elderly Chinese people are walking by this, they could remember a time when ABC's faced extreme prejudice and weren't even allowed legal citizen status or voting rights, to see a group of 20 some-odd white guys speaking fluent Mandarin could have even more unspoken impact when you frame it with that tidbit in mind.

I like going to the flea market here and messing with the mexican americans. The look on their face when they figure out you understand the rude comments they are saying about white person around is priceless. Or the little old ladies that hook you up with the good food they keep in the back when you order in spanish. I just wish I could read it. I learned to only speak it working around them.
Honestly people’s reactions are so cute. I know the feeling of flattery when someone has taken the time and care to learn your native tongue properly. I can only imagine the pride these people feel. Especially with such a linguistically complex jump from English to any Chinese dialect.
Chelsea Patrick I guess because I’m from South Florida that maybe I’ve been hardened to people learning proper English because I don’t really feel anything but glad they’re trying so others don’t have to deal with it. But Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) truly seems like a feat..
Chris Rolls lol honestly English wasn’t really included in my sentiment. It’s such a widely spoken and easy to learn language that it’s sort of a default for most countries.
BrandonJustPlays Δ I’ve never really attempted to learn it myself, but I know people who have been speaking it their whole lives and still won’t claim that they know all of it. It’s a very extensive language, especially in written form.
@@kirklurkpu4470 i commented that before i watched the video and did not realize that someone was indeed speaking Spanish in the vid lol. Is trabaho a Tagalog word?
Brittany Holtgreven If you're looking for a concrete reason, that is because Spain colonized the Philippines for exactly 333 years. 35% of our vocabulary came from spanish words, like for example, to say chair, we Filipinos say, "silya" we basically changed the spelling to how it is pronounced, meanwhile, the original spelling is "silla" from the spanish roots. But no, not everything is just spanish and Filipino words, what makes Tagalog interesting is that it has mixes of Chinese, Bahasa Indonesia, and other countries that are enclose in South East Asia.
It's because Americans believe the world revolves around us. If a genie were to grant me 3 wishes my first would be to be able to speak EVERY single language, dialect, sub-dialect, etc. known to mankind like I were a native.
@@veryeasilydistracted4966 No. ethnocentric perspectives are hardly a hallmark of Americans, though that seems to be the current self deprecating narrative. You can go to China, but no matter how hard you try, no one will accept you as Chinese. You can go to America and you will be accepted as American regardless of your race. Try to do that in Italy, Spain, France, or even Sweden. You will fail.
@@veryeasilydistracted4966It clearly does considering your blaming Americans for the world speaking English, when it was the fucking Brits that colonized the world and expected everyone to speak English. People say the absolute stupidest shit as long as it makes America look bad
Many Chinese in NYC came from Latin America and they speak Spanish well. Others find Spanish easier to pronounce than English so it is easier for them. I have met people who learned Spanish in Turkey and Morocco by watching Mexican soap opera. I was impressed by how well they spoke in Spanish.
My Chinese restaurants speak good Spanish uptown. They even adopted the slang and pronounce exactly. Had me dying the first time I caught them speaking Spanish.
Honestly the best prank would be asking questions to people in English, but then translating the answers to your friends in Mandarin. That would really throw people for a loop
I love it when the lady vendor speaks in Spanish, then she's not really amazed how the white guys were fluent in Mandarin. Like "yeah, I can learn 1 or 2 language too. And I know how to cook garlic shoots.".
@Loonatick lol "racist against white people" You understand that language isn't limited to skin color right? You're aware of the entire continent of Europe?
I had a friend who needed to learn a language for her anthropology degree. She tried Spanish (she's from the US, btw) and failed miserably. She's very bright, but she had no luck with a Romance language so I recommended something totally "other". She took an intro Chinese course and wound up going through four quarters of the language study at OSU, aced it, and even got into the calligraphy. I helped her with vocab cards back then, still remember a few words and phrases.
Learning languages is only really hard going from first to second language because your brain is used to thinking in the syntax of your mother language, however once you pass that level the 3rs an so forth are easier because your brain already got used to the "weirdness". Also the best language to learn is one you find confortable, something you'll find yourself seeing a lot in your day to day.
The smiles on those people's faces tells me all I need to know. Learn their native language and doors will open for you. Also, Xioma is getting too famous when a large number of people on the street recognize him.

The look on their face when they figure out you understand the rude comments they are saying about white person around is priceless. Or the little old ladies that hook you up with the good food they keep in the back when you order in spanish. I just wish I could read it. I learned to only speak it working around them.
neo 71665 It’s funny cause there are plenty of white Mexicans of Spanish or Italian descent, in Mexico. You’d think they’d be more conscious of it.
@@USMC1997 thank you! I've been saying this! My brother is white and speaks fluent Spanish they always have surprise pikachu faces
Some people might not even know where Spain is
Lady in Spanish pranked three white boys speaking chinese 😂😂
That smile at 9:20 just warms my heart. ❤️❤️❤️ He must've been very happy to hear local people speaking his mother tongue 😊
Chelsea Patrick Wait, is it hard to be taught Chinese even as a toddler?
BrandonJustPlays Δ I’ve never really attempted to learn it myself, but I know people who have been speaking it their whole lives and still won’t claim that they know all of it. It’s a very extensive language, especially in written form.
Chelsea Patrick yeah it seems extremely difficult
You're gonna have to go to china soon dude, everyone in chinatown is already starting to know you 😂
He should come to Canada China town. Toronto and Vancouver
the way he said “Trabajo” , super confused had be DEAD
Wait but that's also a Spanish word
Brittany Holtgreven 🤦♂️ omg thats why, the lady thought they were Spanish so she spoke Spanish at first
Yes, it means "work", here in the philippines, it's spelled out as "trabaho"
It’s amazing how so many Asians can speak our languages but we rarely notice how impressive it is
It's because Americans believe the world revolves around us. If a genie were to grant me 3 wishes my first would be to be able to speak EVERY single language, dialect, sub-dialect, etc. known to mankind like I were a native.
@@veryeasilydistracted4966 as am American I can confirm, we are assholes
'Our languages'. You mean English..
I’m impressed with that lady knowing Spanish. Good for her. Trilingual.
@@the0ne809 I've seen a couple of their businesses go broke down here. Maybe they are going for the sure bet, the US.
My Chinese restaurants speak good Spanish uptown. They even adopted the slang and pronounce exactly. Had me dying the first time I caught them speaking Spanish.
J. Amado yeah she knows her to count to ten and say pound.
Lol because there’s hella Spanish speakers in nyc gotta keep up good for business
I love how people get so friendly when you break the Language barrier. Nice video 😊👌👍
Honestly the best prank would be asking questions to people in English, but then translating the answers to your friends in Mandarin. That would really throw people for a loop
He did this. "That guy just told me it was over that way".
I love it when the lady vendor speaks in Spanish, then she's not really amazed how the white guys were fluent in Mandarin. Like "yeah, I can learn 1 or 2 language too. And I know how to cook garlic shoots.".
Idk why but I watched the whole thing with a stupid smile on my face.
SAME
The dude giving directions to the subway is priceless 🤣🤣🤣
Me two...
HahaHaha me to 🤣

1:58 Bro that one girl was staring at you like you had three heads LOL
Man they look sooo happy when they realize they can speak their language.
@Loonatick lol "racist against white people"
You understand that language isn't limited to skin color right? You're aware of the entire continent of Europe?
I just melt when a foreigner in my country is speaking my language to me, even if it's broken. Gold star for trying
@Loonatick lol someone's salty they made a fool of themselves
Jesus come back to check the likes and see WW3 is happening in the comments lmao 😂
Loonatick Loonatick the hermaphrodite
i love how comfortable people get when they can speak their home language. its such a beautiful thing to me
I can’t even get myself to learn Spanish in class or at home and these guys are going to live in Beijing to learn Mandarin Chinese...
Try Duolingo
It's not that hard if you practice and try to speak the language with friends that know the language. Bueno suerte a su futuro de lenguajes..... :)
I helped her with vocab cards back then, still remember a few words and phrases.
gunfuego I thought languages in Spanish was “idiomas”
Learning languages is only really hard going from first to second language because your brain is used to thinking in the syntax of your mother language, however once you pass that level the 3rs an so forth are easier because your brain already got used to the "weirdness".
Also the best language to learn is one you find confortable, something you'll find yourself seeing a lot in your day to day.
The Spanish speaking woman doe
C49S she busted an uno card lmao
its funny for sure but a lot of Chinese and American people here can speak it and understand Spanish.
C49S language mash up, so f*ing great! Love their reaction
This is weird but your videos make me cry sometimes. To see people’s reactions and their joy literally makes my heart melt. You are the best ever.
Same!
6:07 "What are you speaking spanish for, i can't understand"....
A Year later "I learned spanish in 96 hours straight" 😂

One of the best so far. Love the interaction of the three of y'all.
yeah the vids with Xiaoma solo are great but it adds a whole different dimension to have 3 of them out there ,.. mind. blown... so amazing.
This is a perfect example of how we are all naturally bound to each other. All the hate & divide in the world is completely unnecessary & engineered.

Most not Americans I know speak 2-3 languages plus. In TEXAS you must speak Spanglish & Tex-Mex.
plenty of americans are bilingual 🤦🏽♂️
In fact, Americans don't consider another language very important in their lives.

You looking for a fight & there ain’t one here.
You completely missed the point that most Americans are not as multi-lingual as those from other countries.
