    If you are driving down a single track road and can't stop in time for whatever may be coming around the corner be it a car turning around or someone riding a horse then you are going to fast.

      Yes I totally agree. That car was traveling too fast for the conditions too. Apparently the brakes locked and they skidded slightly as was damp. Doesn't excuse the fact that the other car was turning in the road like that though 🙂

      True that it is stupid there but the cammer was much worse in that clip than the car turning round in any case. I often wonder what these cammers think that send in a clip when they are driving so awfully themselves.
      I drive down single tracks a lot and today I saw the worst thing possible.
      Kids on bikes, kids on horses and a dog that was LOOSE and the 'adult' was letting it run along with the kids on the bikes in the middle of the public road. Imagine that around a bend instead of a car turning round.
      Would have made one of these channels if I sent it in but I don't do that.
      No wonder the farmer near me blocks the lane with a tractor when he moves his herd of cows!

      My thoughts exactly, but unfortunately most back lanes are 60mph, so many idiots see this sign and try to do the 60 wherever possible, ALL back lanes should have a revised speed limit of just 30mph max with humps every 100 metres....that's my view anyway.
      All back lanes are originally for farmers to get from field to field, but many motorists see them as a short cuts so they beat queuing traffic on main roads, sometimes such lanes can be completely blocked off by farm vehicles, about ten years ago I was on my push bike enjoying a quiet ride, only to come across a car reversing, the driver told me that further down the lane a car had crashed into a tractor & trailer and the road was fully blocked, I decided to go for a look and never seen owt like it, utter carnage as the car had redesigned itself into the front of the tractor, I scrambled through a gap in the hedge, walked along the field edge, found another gap in the hedges and got back on the lane and carried on :-D

      I was going to mention this, then I saw you'd posted the same... centre lines are broken, not solid... therefore overtaking is perfectly legal.
      Point to note - the hashed area is known as the "dead man's lane", as traffic can use the same lane in either direction - meaning one should take extra care when overtaking.

      @@nicklivingstone5264 To be honest I was referring to the comment on screen regarding the ‘no overtaking zone’ which isn’t. Having re seen the overtake it’s clear the junction is wide open and the road approaching isn’t screen by any hedge or tree line and it’s clear there’s nothing at the junction and the ambulance is back onto the correct side before the junction entrance. You could split hairs but I think it’s a good overtake still.

    The clip with the moped rider getting the cops to stop the car and warn the car driver for dangerous driving. I would send a complaint to the police complaints commission with the footage attached showing it was the moped rider that was driving dangerously and brake checking the car. You can also read the number plate of the police car as well, so also put a complaint about the officer not checking the footage when it was offered and just taking the biker's word for it before warning the car driver.

    The ambulance overtaking is perfectly legal. Also, the 'no blue lights' comment is irrelevant because Emergency vehicles are not required to have blue lights on in order to use our exemptions.

    • @ShortCycle.
      @ShortCycle. 3 роки тому +2

      A question.
      Surely you wouldn't use emergency vehicle exemptions if not responding to a emergency though.
      In which case the highway code states
      "If the area is bordered by a broken white line, you should not enter the area unless it is necessary and you can see that it is safe to do so".
      I agree the pass was safe, but overtaking isn't necessary. Its desirable to make progress but its not necessary.

    • @CymruEmergencyResponder
      @CymruEmergencyResponder 3 роки тому +5

      @@ShortCycle. There are many situations where exemptions may be used without being on an emergency call:
      Police: Tailing a vehicle or persons without arousing suspicion, making towards an incident before additional resources have been allocated, making to an RV point in best time.
      Ambulance: Making towards mental health calls where a quick attendance is necessary but use of audible and visual warning devices may escalate the situation etc.
      Police generally use exemptions whilst not on an emergency call, due to the very nature of their role, more so than any of the other emergency services but the rules allow all emergency services to use exemptions without blue lights as long as there is justification for doing so and due regard is shown to the safety of the public.

      Thanks for taking the time (very quickly!)to explain, and in a sensible manner.

    • @CymruEmergencyResponder
      @CymruEmergencyResponder 3 роки тому +3

      @@ShortCycle. No problem at all. You may cross into hatched markings bordered by broken white lines to overtake if you have to but its wise to avoid doing so because they indicate hazards. You may not cross into them if they are bordered by solid white lines.
      You may find that emergency vehicles, using warning devices or not, may use the broken bordered hatch markings to begin overtakes more frequently that the average member of the public because we are all advanced drivers and tend to be far more aware of the hazards and plan for them whilst driving. We will constantly assess the suitability of using the hatched areas to begin overtaking. We all use the System of Vehicle Control (IPSGA) method of driving and are expected to have far higher hazard perception and awareness levels. For example: the average driver should be checking their mirrors every 8-10 seconds. We should be checking ours when driving on lights every 5-8 seconds.

I queried this and asked why it couldn't be put on the drivers side (so the lens would be central) in a position where the mirror would obscure the whole unit and was told that you cant legally have them on the drivers side and it would fail an MOT.
