Hah, I completely missed Wallace humming the same song in the original version. The implication he was kept awake by the music too....and was having a blast. XD
I was watching The Wrong Trousers on Amazon Prime just now. I had to replay the birthday card song a few times and then do research thinking I imagined the card playing Happy Birthday because I was that confused.

Did it play on Amazon "Happy Birthday" or "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow"?
For he's a jolly good fellow. I remember it playing Happy Birthday on the vhs cassette

I had always grown up listening to the eddited version so i found it weird when i was watching a copy of it on holiday. Only now I realise I watched the original one which is really cool.
I have the edited version on VHS as part of the Wallace & Gromit boxset from the late 1990s and I later got the original version on DVD as part of Wallace & Gromit in their first 3 adventures (which was released in 1999).
Probably not, since two of the three songs that were used during the scene where Gromit struggles to sleep are still under copyright. It won't be at least until 2049, in the U.S. anyway, when these songs enter the public domain (unless the Copyright Law gets extended) and then they can start using the original 1993 audio again.
I hate how it's been changed... I was only watching it yesterday thinking this isn't the same music for the birthday card, then the radio too! Just keep it original 😢
I still hear the original in my head when I watch the later versions, just superior. It’s so annoying when this happens, there’s an episode of Still Game where the climax is around a particular song playing and they’ve since lost the license for it and it’s ruined

1:26 I grew up with the original and I still miss it to this day.
Then it needs to be fixed.
Same
Ditto
2:09 I love how "Happy Talk" changes to "How much is that doggy in the window". Someone should play those two songs together like that! 🤣
...Kinda wish they hadn't changed that now.
Such a nice touch (and even more salt in Gromit's wound)
On iPlayer, the subtitles credit the original songs as the subtitles were done from the original airing.

My Grandmother recorded this on VHS in 93 and My Family grew up with the OG Songs!!!
1:48 I wish there was info on this random organ piece. I’ve always loved it all my life but nobody knows anything about it
We are never given the names of the replacement tunes.
@ suck that we’ll never know
Does it not list it in the credits?
@ no idea
It was probably just a generic piece of music that Julian Knott came up with, so we'll probably never know what the name of it could be.
It's been 2 years, where's the google drive link
I think the reason they change the card song was because there was a copyright dispute over happy birthday in several parts of the world
I wish they brought the original 1993 audio on blu ray from USA region or UK, if they want to.
That makes two of us. We certainly don’t deserve to be cheated out of what we remember from 30 years ago.
Unfortunately, that won’t happen until probably 2067 in the USA and 2081 in the UK in terms of their own copyright laws.

So I wasn't going crazy! I remember finding the music at 1:27 catchy and so noticed it wasn't there when rewatching recently
Why does the music at 1:06 genuinely slap?
I think that's probably the sound of a clock ticking or something.
Having only ever heard the current one, it honestly feels wrong to hear anything but "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow" come from Gromit's card.
What’s the music at? 1:05
It was probably just a piece of generic royalty-free music which was composed by Julian Knott. We’ll probably never know the name of the tune.
Nice 😊
1:25 i need the name of that one
Omg what is the song at 1:48??
I'm not exactly sure, but I'm assuming it's just generic royalty-free music in which it was composed by Julian Knott.
I have the original version of this on VHS
Same
I have the 1994 Print with Closing Captions
Is there any chance of restoring the original 1993 audio tracks for today’s audiences?

Everyone thought it was a Mandela effect
It's ironic that Warner Bros. changed the music for video as they owned Warner Chapel back then.
