The "Chop Rhythm" is something I might use sparingly, it depends on the Songs that I'm playing. I'm not a "Traditionalist" and don't need or want to play that rhythm in every song. Discretion is my rule of application here. This applies to both Mandolin and the Octave Mandolin for me. It is a good technique, no doubt, and she doesn't put down her foot about it either, it seems. THAT is an expensive model Octave Mandolin, no question! Looks like a Weber-made instrument...Beautiful and sounds nice. Eastman models tend to be a bit more affordable, if that's your budget. Great sound to have in a jam session!
Thanks for this video. The mandolin family suffers as an eastern, mid-eastern instrument assimilated into western culture. The violin tuning forced upon it mostly for easy transition into western study/academia denies the instruments heritage and playability. I will learn from technics you share. I respect the work/practice you invested. But I will implement more traditional tunings and useage Fan question: how has your perception changed since becoming an accomplished, recognized instrumentalist then some college "gives" you a scholarship?
Nicely done I learned more this morning thank you for your knowledge bim all self taught by other musicians like you love ya ❤️
I’m a mandolin player, and now I want one of these

What tuning do you follow for octave mandolin?
The Tuning can be the same as Mandolin: GDAE. But I've heard some Players tune to: ADAD. So, it can become an open road for you essentially. Play On!
Thanks for this video.

I've never heard a Gibson style octave mandolin before. In the UK flat top instruments dominate.
