The cars been sold, never dynoed it, the lift was a 270, yes they're for performance not just sound, and the decklid was purchased from Blue Oval Industries

The lift should be way more than 270. My cams in my 4v are .425. should be simlar

It sounds amazing but surprisingly the stock cam would probably have a flatter torque curve. Most cams like this die on the bottom end and scream on the top end. Cool, but not ideal for a street car. I'm going with FRPP Hot Rod cams. Sounds almost as good but is supposed to have much better street manners.

this is the best sounding 3v on here. and this is the exhaust setup I'm going to be running w my mutha thumpers. mine is a 3" system so we will see how she sounds! glad I could contribute to half of your views

It's almost dying because of the Bama tune. I had Brenspeed make me up a tune for my cams and it was better than anything I ever got from Bama.
Bama wrote my tune for my cammed 2v and they nailed it first shot, I followed up with a dyno run and tune was verified correct. I performed my cam swap three year ago and tune is great, drive ability, idle, acceleration all good!

@120506torque It was still learning idle that day since I had just had them installed the day before....but you can set your idle to a lower RPM with a tuner. Mine is set at at 700

How's your highway mpg? I get a highway average of 30mpg in my 2010 GT, so I'm nervous about installing these on mine. :/
Fatal Motorsports I have them in my 10 gt, it takes it down a bit I get 17 a gallon highway if I take it easy on the loud peddle and about 15 city. You do get compliments and looks everywhere you go though.

I have stage 1 comp cams and yes there is a little bit of jerking while driving slow or maybe its just me idk🤷♂️😂
you will have to re-adjust to driving it with cams but its not bad.

BoneCollector480 you can make 370rwhp with these just from.bolt one and these cams. plenty of videos on here of 3v dynos making over 350rwhp with bolt ons and these cams. head and cammed ls1s only make like 380 depending on the year.

Maybe a dumb question but I’m planning on getting a 3V this summer and know that it doesn’t lay down all that much power even after tastefully modding it but is it uncommon for people to swap coyotes in there?

These don't really give much in the way of power gains. The Hot Rods do give a nice gain and sound fine.

Did the car make a whistle sound while accelerating after the cam swap? My car does and I need to know if its a big problem or not. Some people say its the sound of more air being sucked in the intake is that true?
Normally headers are what whistle.
I had LT headers for a year before I put Cams in and no noises at all

grizzly2890 I think its idle is just set to low. I set mines low like that for car shows & car meets.
grizzly2890 frankly, most people put some long cams just for the dirty idle. its a fantastic sound that build on the premise that you own a old school mustang.

So what did the cam swap do to the already limited bottom end grunt on that 4.6? What was the difference in mileage? I've got an 06 with Borla header back exhaust and am interested in doing the cam swap. SWEET looking and sound ride bro!!
I don't know what you're asking on the first question but the mileage did go down to 11 mpg, with the right tune it went up to 13 mpg,

Ok. So,in short the 4.6 is a very small V8 and has little low end grunt compared to lets say a 460 Ford V8. Not a lot of mass in a 4.6. My question is how much low end torque did the cams kill to produce more high end horsepower? How tangible was the loss? Thanks.

I hear ya Rick. I'm about to do this cam swap regardless but I can't seem to get a straight,halfway intelligent answer on the pro's and con's on this cam swap. On a 352 Ford FE motor(or any carbed in block cammed engine) I'd say the answer is pretty obvious but with a fuel injected OHC plant with variable timing the game plan changes and I've met no one around here who has done it and I've talked to the techs at Ford around here and they're mostly first year grads from school and they just look at me like I've got a weener growing out of my fore head. Any info. Like true to life info?
bigholmes95 I lost about 6 ponies in the bottom end of my 2007. But gained about 23 on the top around 6600rpm. Tuning is the key, as I get about 23.5mpg on the highway, but around 15mpg in the city. I'm running long tubes, offroad x-pipe, and magnaflow catbacks, with electric cutouts, Roush cai, and numerous body pieces. With the cutouts open, people that know cars will gawk because most S197 owners tend to just bolt up a blower or turbo and skip the car shaking cams because...well, cams cost a lot for the little you gain compared to FI. However, my car throws down 339rwhp/325rwtq, and thats more than enough to make most imports look foolish. Getting new FRPP parts from the throttle body down the the charge plates soon, looking for another 10hp or so. With any luck, I'll post up a vid soon. Good luck! I promise you'll enjoy cams if you get them. Look at Brenspeed's detroit rockers if you're worried about torque. Happy hunting!
