I have been reading sci fi since 1958. Read all of them, Azimov, Burroughs to Simak, et, al. I have to say that Kilby can hold his own against any of them! He is not perfect (if I hear again how someone scratches their chin ...), but damn what good stories and wonderful plots. The gift of being able to hear these for free is wonderful. This old man thanks you!
It's like you know exactly when I finished the last book you posted. Thank you again so much for sharing your work with us. You are an amazing author and I love your writing style.
I have loved these series immensely! The reader is phenomenal and so engaging. Wasnt hard to feel as if I was with them in the story. Well written 👏 BRAVO.
Thanks for posting!!! I finished Colony 5 a few days ago and got the book blues. You know the feeling where you’re sad that something great is over and now you don’t know what to read? Started a few more books but couldn’t get interested enough. So happy I saw that this was posted!!
I felt that way about the series by Julian May about the Pleistocene colony of deported misfits hat developed mental powers. you might thy that. its on the web now... C
Thanks gerald great series nicol is absolutely the best narrator listen to lot of audiobook s in my opinion this best combination niclo is absolutely the best narrator she brings your story to life great
My first audiobook, absolutely LOVED IT. The plot was excellent! For someone who hadn't read sci Fi/general fantasy in almost 2 decades, (non fiction reader of history and science), really appreciated the work. Keep it up please! You got me hooked good sir! ☄️💚🪐
This series is so great. So immersive. I grew up with John Carter, and having another series on the planet I love with significantly less racism is very nice lol
It was kinda weird that neither Jan nor Nils made an appearance even once in the whole book. It feels like the story of Colony Mars has progressed past their storylines.
I’ve only just found you. I’m warning you, I set a high bar ( Heinlein, et al ) ! I have high hopes! Oddly enough, it was the title SURFACE TENSION that caught my eye - literally. It was the name of a famous short story winner way back - in the SCIENCE FICTION HALL OF FAME book, which I still pick up to read after all these years. Hope I will still be doing that with your books! Thank you!
At the beginning of the story Mia couldn't figure out that she could have saved the trapped people by using the room she was in as an airlock. She could have cleared the crowd out, closed it, lowered the pressure. Then got the others in while using an air tank so she didn't black out. Then closed the door to the side losing air. Repressurised and then got them all out. 2. Gizmo was an extension of the computer of the original colony, established in Gizmo origin. With the exception of a few micro possessors that allowed it to operate independently. it was like a hand for the computer to interact with the real world. I don't understand why everybody in the story thinks otherwise. Nobody ever talks to the computer. 3. The chief is dumber than a rock. Even when faced with the truth he still could not see he was played by the company who manufactured the need for their support in the first place. Sadly, there are people in government real life who are just as dumb. 4. This Mr. Poe was also rather funny as near the end of the story he conveniently forgets that he also told Mia to investigate the death of the officer. At the start, he tells her to do both but near the end it is. All she had to do was bring back the body. lol 5. Also ironic to think that one of the reasons that she took the assignment was to get away from a stressful situation. Wow. lol 6. Shame Mia could not have gone to the mainframe to say goodby. 7. What in the world happened to Nills and Jan? I love your stories; they keep me interested and thinking. Mainly as to what a real colony on Mars could look like.
bit of a spoiler perhaps: if you knock down the door to the front of the warehouse and then blow off the back airlock exposing it to the outside, aren't you going to depressurize the entire sector, not just the warehouse?
@@GeraldMKilbyAuthor Thanks for the reply. I did not expect that! It is a testament to the writing that it draws the reader in to an imagined environment sufficiently to be thinking about things like this (instead of just suspending all belief and analytic thinking as is usually the case in SF). Thanks for these books - marvelous.
I do like a long story. Although this is more series of stories it's a bit like a long story because of the connection of the storis to one another. Of course a writer must move on to other things evemtually.
The evil french villian thing and the choice of monte christo was a weak decision. Overall the story line is solid.... You just used too many derivitive over used character formulas and interactions. I'm suprised as all the previous iterations of the Colony Mars books had none of this. 😄🤣
The narrator has a nice voice and for a while it is fine but as the story develops her lack of any character definition makes it hard going and you start to zone out of the story because it's like one character is speaking all the time.
Mr Kilby is the gift that keeps on giving!! Book 5!!! Also Nicol can read a mean novel!! see you in 6h 30!! THANK YOU!!

Wow I loved the last one.
I wasn't expecting number five so soon.
Headphones back on and I'm off to Mars for the next 6 hours.

I love your stories. Thank you.
Kilby/Nicol makes for a vivid movie in your head.
Thank you very much for sharing your series! They are extremely enjoyable.
Thank you. I really enjoy these stories ❤
This series would make amazing movies. Jane should be played by the main girl from Underworld.

Super nice! Thank you! 🙏🏼
Thank you Mr. Kilby! You are a legend! Love from Taiwan 🇹🇼
Thanks again!!
Awesome book.
Many thanks!
I love this series!
it's like a subliminal message storyline... hinting about what is happening Here in 2022 on Earth.
Interestingly, this book was written 'before' the global pandemic. So reading chapter one now seems eerily prescient.
I've would not kept on listening if it were not because Ms. Zanzarella. Great voice and acting
Perhaps I've become a tad bit greedy but "Colony Six"?!
Fear not, it's on its way. End of July :-)
@@GeraldMKilbyAuthor I cannot wait!!!!!!!
5 out of 5 so far great books
Is this a Netflix series yet?
it did get optioned, but no movement so far.

I am freaking hooked on these books!
yeay!! gizmo the robot is back in the game 🤖🤗
Nicole is a great reader
Who did the artwork for this series of books?
My good self!
@@GeraldMKilbyAuthor Your a very talented man
Sadly this is not a story but simply a retelling of what is already happening with corporations and the WEF.
Great story! Just curious as to what happened to Nills and Jan?
Narration bot mimicking a human or a human mimicking a robotic presentation. It gets harder to tell as the years progress.

Gizmo!!!! On to book 6.
Patty Hearst story is wild
... can't find books 7 to 50? . . .
HELP 😳
THANK YOU for the upload, Mr. Kilby
The least realistic moment in the entire series, the two techs not knowing who Gizmo is lmaooo.

I can't remember that scene, but I imagine they would have multiple interior arilocks, a bit like a submarine with multible bulkheads.

Why do you keep destroying your heros? Poor Gizmo.
Why did Mia break her promise to Gizmo anyway?
Mia is not very tough always go unconscious no matter what happens lol

Is Mars is having climate change
Thanks anyway! I don't care for narrator. Thanks for posting though!
Why don't u care for Nicol, unless u would want a man's voice?
You can keep your propaganda.
There's a special place in hell for those people who put ads in audiobooks
