Very pleasently surprised with this. Kohanek seems like a genuinely good dude and is onviously a strong writer. About half way through and the world building is convincong and interesting. Plenty of solid view points that make me want to continue listening. Happy this abailable for free on UA-cam.
I just turned on this book one night because I was board and didn't have a series I was currently working on, but it was actually really good. I'm glad I found it. Some of my favorite books I just stumble on a author then I'm like wow I love this person. So good job I definitely got a series to read today now.
Fantastic. Having readers discover our books is the biggest challenge for indie authors. I hope you enjoy the story. There is a lot more waiting (my 24th novel just released this week). I also encourage you to check out the other authors in this group. More are coming soon.
The series are written such that you can start with either, but any reader intending on doing both would get more out of the story starting here. I hope you are enjoying the story.
I finished book 4 of Fall before accidentally discovering this series was first. The entire time listening to Fall, I was given enough background information to piece together basically everything that will happen in Fate, but I'm going to listen to these and fall in love with the characters (even tho I know what happens to all of them) before going back to continue Fall. Also this narrator is amazing
I’m glad I listened to “The legend of Shadowmar.” During the performance before the Wizard Lord. I was pulled back into the other story.. I respect the tie in…!!! Great job!!
Thanks! Shadowmar was intended to be an intro to this story and others (The Outrageous Exploits of Jerrell Landish and Tor the Dungeon Crawler), all set in the world of Wizardoms.
I just finished book 4 of Fall of Wizardoms, and I JUST REALIZED that these books were first! Time to experience this story, even though I already know how it ends :)
Doh! Sorry about that. I tried to include notes to steer listeners toward this story first, but it's not that big of a deal. The series were written so they could be enjoyed in either order, but time is linear, so you certainly know some things that would otherwise be surprises or twists. Enjoy!
@@qdogkohanek I actually think I prefer how I've accidentally listened to this series. I feel like I'm listening to a super long flashback! Also I didn't check the description for any kind of notes so don't feel bad on my behalf. It's great to listen to a scene and go, oooohhhhhh that's why x and y don't get along later. It -is- heart breaking to know that certain characters don't make it to the end, because I am falling in love with all of them. Obviously no spoilers, but your character writing is immaculate and every one of them have their own personalities and quirks.
Im so glad i found your channel. Excellent books, stories, authors and narrators. Especially considering the price tag. You are ALL AWESOME. Complete series in the same place for free. Thank you 🙏 and salutations.
I have listened to the Cradle series by Will Wight that also has Travis Baldree narrate that I keep on hearing very recognizable voices and getting confused thinking that they are the other characters from the other series. It makes for some interesting scenes in my head.
The Cradle series is where I discovered Travis and is why I tracked him down to do the narration for Fate of Wizardoms and Fall of Wizardoms. I guess following a narrator from series to series always carries the risk of you imagining prior characters with the voices he or she uses.
I kinda disagree. I really like Travis and Nick Pohdel. I give them 20 to 30 to do their magic and BAM!!!! I'm engrossed in a new world and story and time and place.
Strange cuz I'm 3 hours ahead and I still see no real drive or catch in the book to make me continue to listen. If I wasn't stuck at work I would probably just turn this off
One thing I really like is that in most storylines, you have a magician that excels past everyone else. In this, you have normal ish people trying to stop the magician very nice to see the other perspective for once.
Kohanek's world-building in 'Eye of Obscurance' is brilliant. The intricate political schemes and magical elements create a complex and fascinating universe that's easy to get lost in. I like it. Thank you!
Thanks for listening and for supporting our channel. I hope you enjoy the series. If so, the sequel series, Fall of Wizardoms, has begun releasing on this channel as well.
In all seriousness; as someone interested in writing fantasy epics, would you Mr.Webb and/or your fellow writers whom you work with on this channel be willing to mentor me? Thanks for your time, consideration and the great listen!
I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook! It's a solid story even though I personally didn't like some of the female characters. The magic system and a certain wizard lord got me intrigued though, and I can't wait to go on to part 2 and discover the next phase. So far, it has been definitely worth every minute!
Good likable characters and lovely story line. Well written as well. I really enjoyed listening and will carry on to sequel books. Thanks . Liked and subscribed hope you're monetized. Love from 🇿🇦
Thank you so much for your support. I am glad you are enjoying the story. Books 5 and 6 will release soon, and then there is a complete 6-book sequel series titled Fall of Wizardoms.
For the most part the characters were likable, but Rowa was just an obnoxious, petulant child most of the time and I couldn't really stand her constant blustering and nagging.
Im almost finished with book one and I really enjoyed it so far but am I the only one who thinks that Salvon sounds a lot like Thom Merrilin the Gleeman from Wheel of Time? Thanks for the Upload 👏
Shockingly, you are the first to ever make this connection. WoT is my favorite series (despite the length and slower sections). As a result, it was a major influence on me. I purposely made a few small inferences throughout Fate of Wizardoms that fans of WoT might connect. The patches on Salvon's cloak are intended to remind people of Thom. However, I think you will find that your perspective of Salvon changes as the story advances, and when you look back, you will better understand his motivations, including his garb. Thanks for listening and commenting.
I look forward to picking up on WOT nuggets, my favourite series also. I have only just started listening to the story and am enjoying it immensely so far. Thank you so much
@@qdogkohanek Thank you for making your books available to us for free. I am a student from germany and I love reading and listening to fantasy and scifi but I can't afford to buy as many (audio-)books as I would like, so channels like this make my nightshifts much more barable. Thanks again 🙏.
I read the first wheel of time book because everyone was talking about the series. That’s the most direct and obvious rip off of LoTR I’ve ever seen. I don’t even know how they didn’t wind up in court.
I mean he slightly changed names like it wouldn’t be obvious. Ridiculous tree beard rip off. Even more ridiculous Aragorn rip off. It’s absurd he just slightly changed the characters and went with it.
Thanks! Honestly, book 4 is my favorite in the series. I really enjoy the quest motif, and I feel like that one has the best comedic moments as well. Enjoy!
I imagine I would enjoy this more if I was reading, the beginning is rough and doesn't grab my attention at all. I loved Travis Baldree's reading of the first two Arcane Ascension books, but this is overkill imo.
Oh, there are warriors and great battles. A grizzled warrior joins the group in the middle of book 2. Battles are coming. Think of this series as 2 classic-sized fantasy books split up into 6 parts.
LOL. That is a good question. I think, in general, the idea is that the sound different than the other characters and the narrators just tend to choose Scottish for dwarves.
While I love the way the narrator tells the story, I kinda feel uneasy when he makes the last word of each sentence very breathy... it is pulling me off the immersion... 😢
Praise the storyteller and the voice
Hear, hear! 👏

Great story, Great narrator! Enough said! Thanks 🙏
Thanks for listening and commenting. I hope you enjoy the rest of the series and the follow up series, Fall of Wizardoms.
I am really enjoying this storyline, a lot. And I definitely like the narrator...it is my first time getting to experience his work.
Wonderful. Yes, Travis is a real pro and an award-winning narrator for a reason. Thanks for listening.
Leads to really great dreams, when listening during the night! Love your work!😊
Accidentally started fall of wizardom first, glad I went back and did this series before resuming

Hi! Legend of Shadowmar is a prequel novella. This is the first official book in the series. Cheers!
Looks like Rob Zombie in the background.
😆Too funny. It was intended to depict a mad wizard lord, but Rob Zombie is not so far off.
