Thanks so much for your information
I don’t like splitting communities when in growth mode!
UA-cam shorts only for a beginner like me.
Thank You
@@evdoor ehat Amount the phots guy and airrack they still use it to bring their audience to there videos
As a small channel, I would always recommend to post both shorts and long form content at the same time. Shorts gives recognition to the channel and which indirectly helps channel grow through long form content. Always Remember! You don't have millions subscribers to get million views. Keep what you are doing. Trust in yourself
Thanks for your idea 💡
I was doing that BUT ALL Of the content creators I watched, had a separate shorts Channel
I needed this❤️❤️❤️
@@nenasbirds and that's how you do it...
@@tamizhsartstudio 🙌🙌
Something you didn’t mention is that TikTok promotes your content more “locally” (in your country) while UA-cam promotes your content internationally.
And this makes a huge difference when it comes to the audience you want to reach.
Yep. I def prefe yt shorts because i hate local content
What’s you local content @dieauterstehung ?

Shorts are growing on me, I was opposed at first because I didn't get how to do them effectively, but I've been doing more of them and getting the hang of it. I will NOT use TikTok so for me it's gonna be on UA-cam
Im the exact same way. Only until recently was i posteing shorts that werent doing well, and then i got it a little better and i had a video go viral. I kinda wanna try tiktok cuz the algorithm gives you a chance to get views but im sticking with youtube
You Tube is a marathon and not a sprint. Keep grinding!! Never give up!! Run your own race!! Have a great weekend. 🏃 🏃 🏃62 likes

TikTok is so much better i feel like UA-cam Shorts is just the TikTok app a year ago always. The only way UA-cam Shorts is better, is the better monetization system.
Agreed, not only the community but also the UI.
I use both shorts and longs on the same channel. I heard alot of advice on keeping them separate but deep down I knew over time they would sort it out. Also i just upload to TT and YT with the same shorts... it helped me go viral on both and both have different crowds so it's like double reward for the same effort
Both are stimulating, TikTok ambushes you emotionally while UA-cam channels your emotions
TikTok - Fun
UA-cam - Glory
I’ve been doing a mixture of both. I don’t want to put all of my eggs into one basket. Shorts are more about instant gratification, and may not guarantee long term or consistent success on my channel. It’s fun to make them, but having evergreen content on my channel is important to me, when I know how quickly those shorts come and go.
No don’t give up! Now is the time to go all in on shorts people.
Absolutely use both TikTok and YT Shorts. Started 30 days ago and have been monetised on TikTok and have had over 1.8 million views on YT. The videos that went viral on each platform were different, in fact the same video hasn't yet gone viral on YT and TikTok.
Well done! I want to start like this but you say don't post same video short on youtube ans tiktok but different one😄
I use both, and I actually find that my videos blow up better on UA-cam - they get more views on average and more videos go kind of viral. Also, UA-cam sometimes pushes videos that are a year old, unlike TikTok - for example, I currently have a Christmas lip art from last year going viral, and a similar thing happened in October 2022 with one if the Halloween makeup videos from October 2021.
Super blessed with the performance of our shorts - I think it's about finding the balance between both and using them right.
But it’s a fact shorts attract more subscribers ❤
Not always. Both of mine have over 400 views and guess how many subscribers I got since uploading them... 0.
How often you post your shorts !😑
@@Jedi_Spartan_38 that’s pretty average for small creators…
Yeah I uploaded shorts like 3 times a week and yes it does attract some new subscribers but sometimes it doesn't
I get new subscribers because of my shorts, but a lot of them also stop subscring a day later.
Corrections:
- You can upload videos over 3 minutes on TikTok (I’m not sure if all creators can, but a lot definitely do)
- Less of a correction, but the definition for short-form content you use in a statistic in this video is defined as videos less than 10 minutes in length. This I believe misleads people, because when people hear short videos they think YT Shorts, TiKTok, and Reels, not just any video under 10 minutes like this one. I would much prefer statistics on ACTUALLY which platform is getting more short-form views, not counting normal YT videos.
Also unrelated note, I love how you finally recommended uploading the same content on both platforms. I’ve seen a lot of Creator channels getting caught up in which one is better and which one will come out on top, that they miss the fact that uploading a video to TikTok that you already made for UA-cam Shorts takes less than 5 minutes and could lead to benefits. There’s no harm (for most creators) in uploading to both.
UA-cam and instagram started reels and shorts seriously after tiktok was banned in India and it is a large market as well
True facts
As a small drawing channel just starting out, I posted on both UA-cam and Tiktok in the beginning. My TikTok videos have comparatively smaller views than UA-cam shorts. So I am sticking to UA-cam for now but I do post them on both if there is time. These are usually speed drawing and still figuring out if it is entertaining as a short content form.
What I hate about short form videos is the endless looping it drives me nuts.
It would be great if you could limit it Yo 5 or 10
Honestly not a bad idea 😅
@@vidIQ I think whatever platform did it first would be on to a winner.
I started putting videos on both TikTok and UA-cam but with wanting to do long form video I felt that it was better for me to have everything in one place so UA-cam won out. I’ll admit that some of that’s down to me not wanting to put in the time to continue with both platforms too.
I got 35 subscribers this month. Thanks to shorts 🎉🎉🎉
I use both being a small channel. I use tiktok in hopes to funnel people to my youtube channel but I actually prefer youtube shorts
Making shorts is the best decision I've made for my channel since shortening my long form content down. I've gotten tens of thousands of views and went from 90 to 150 subs in less than a month. Still learning and improving of course, but hopefully the combination of that (and livestreams in the near future) will help me on my journey to fulfilling my dream as a full-time content creator.
same. every short i lake gets over 1000 views now
Shorts are OP got me to 14 k subs in just over a year. Keep up the grind guys you'll get there.
I typically do long form videos, but posted 2 shorts both less than 20 seconds long recently. I had 95 subscribers at this time. The first one got 1.7k views in 35 minutes, and the second one got 1.2k in the first day. I'm now up to 104 subscribers. The point of this: you can be a nobody on UA-cam, and still get tons of views (and a few subs) really quickly. Good luck to everyone, and merry Christmas!
This is very true...I posted an Andrew Tate short and it got 3.2k in 4hours 🤣🤣🤣
right! i started youtube like 2 months ago and now over 13k. crazy

UA-cam is still the best for me. I know oneday, i can fulfill my dreams in this journey...i'm just so pumped up to keep going because of you guys who never get tired of helping us, small youtubers. Thank you so much🙏🏾
it’s difficult to make popular shorts with my style of content, i have to adapt and find something more innovative tbh
I still struggle with my channel to get subs and views despite trying all the advice. Its encouraging to see that their are others like me who arent giving up.
Hello, thank you so much for your video! 😊 I have a question, my channel is currently monetized, I recently started making shorts and I'm really confused because all the videos I posted with the music from the shorts library gives me a "Shorts library with third-party content restriction". Is this normal and is going to change next year? or we can't use that music if we want to monetize in some point?.. unfortunately I haven't find any answers for this issue and I would be really thankful if you can please help me to understand 😢
TikTok max video length is actually 10 minutes as of late February of this year.
I post on both platforms. Viewers on Tik Tok in my niche are very engaging and polite. Viewers on YT shorts usually don’t comment, when they do, it’s something weird or unpleasant
Hi! Can you make a video on what are good metrics for UA-cam Shorts videos? A as small nice channel we understand how to improve a video looking at CTR, average watch time - BUT we know little about the standard for Shorts videos. We have Shorts with 2% CTR and 32% average percentage viewed outperforming (a lot!) videos with 141% average percentage viewed or a video with 80% average percentage viewed and 4% CTR. The subjects in the videos very, very similar...
Love the channel and our subscription to VidIQ🙂
I'm personally not a big fan of tiktok BUT it does also offer scheduling.. the downside is it only seems to show up when you upload from desktop... i definitely think if you've got the video you might as well make the most of both, even if that's set and forget on one platform
people's attention spans for videos really do get lower and lower overtime
If I'm getting paid for long-form vids, will I automatically get paid for shorts? Or do I have to meet the requirements again?
I say use both! I’m a small channel and use shorts which helps gain subs as watch time doesn’t count towards becoming a partner TikTok to get name out and be consistent with long content. I’m finally getting an idea on what people enjoy from my page and now focusing on that content for future uploads
I am pushing on shorts at the moment and make "advertisement" for my longer form content in these. Its actually working !
One more thing, UA-cam Shorts is always late to trends and have the most childish videos because it’s more accessible to kids, so the videos on UA-cam Shorts are, what people call “cringier” than TikTok
Shorts have only killed the impressions/momentum on my long form content. So in my case they were a horrible idea. The algorithm has clearly "flagged" for my channel not to be promoted with shorts. In the beginning I was regularly getting thousands of views per short (9K on one), now I am limited to just about 150 views max, and am only put on the shorts shelf for 5-20 minutes per video total, even with 100+% AVD. Pretty pathetic. Need to give up shorts ASAP. They clearly don't work for many based on what I've seen out there.
I shoot vertical videos under 1 minute for both TikTok and UA-cam shorts because that’s UA-cam shorts time limit. Then longer footage I try to shoot horizontally for both because you can upload wide videos to TikTok. I’m making a movie so obviously the film is horizontal so bloopers and some footage will be wide. But I film a lot on my phone of behind the scenes stuff that I try hard to keep under 1 minute. It’s working and less work this way so I can grow in both platforms quickly. 😊
You guys videos have definitely helped me 💜 so thank you
As a new content creator I feel like I should learn tu use both it seems like the best way to go
Hey @vidIQ was wondering you you still do channel reviews? And of you do how would I attempt to get my channel into that lost to be reviewed? Thanks in advance
yes tiktok is just better than youtube for short form content
UA-cam Shorts: For the creators to grow
TikTok: For the viewer that wants actually funny videos that aren't Andrew Tate behind a GTA 5 montage.
Nowadays I use to make shorts from my old videos and it works: *people go to see my old videos!*
I hope shorts are done. If someone wants to make a short video, then go ahead but use the entire screen. It’s like watching a video through a keyhole. And they clog up my feed. At a minimum, YT should allow us a setting to block all shorts.
Well my 2 shorts are the first videos to naturally get 100s of views in a few hours/days so I'm going to keep trying... it's moreso an issue of getting ANY of those 400+ to subscribe. I'm thinking of making 'lore' shorts for the Sci-fi franchises I talk about.
Seems like a cool idea! Good luck!
What ☠️? Just use tiktok i got 32k views on my first video
i've been wanting to do shorts for a bit now but i dont know how to make one for my channel. but i have heard there is a create button on your videos to make it a short but i dont got it. can someone tell me how to get it or is it just not out for everyone yet.
Shorts are a great tool for us content creators to take advantage of! Let’s keep learning how to best adapt them to our audiences and complement our long form content. Good luck to all of you and keep at it!
Good luck to you as well 💪🏻🎇
I'm with you
I have had three TikTok videos get over 150,000 views one of which is at 250,000 and still growing and the same exact videos on YT shorts for 1500 views each.
I wish UA-cam Shorts would give me those kinda views.....
what editing software would you recomend for free
As someone with 2M on Tiktik and just now starting YT last month... UA-cam is way better. Tiktok numbers dont mean anything. I get about $700 for 30M views on Tiktok of a 30 second video.
Hey Dan, quick Question why are some of my short and long video`s showing on my video tab and a few on shorts tab?
I've noticed this as well and I have noooo idea. It's very strange and I have to imagine it's a bug.
@@vidIQ Ok thank you Dan i thought maybe it was a problem with my channel, would you maybe know why my community tab went missing 3 days ago?
as a gaming channel , how to use shorts ...as we are doing long form and live too??
I've gotten great views when I started posting on Shorts. However this last month my Shorts views absolutely died. They're mostly good for a temporary boost.
How about reels and spotlight?
I'm so new on UA-cam but I'm determined to stick at UA-cam cause I love and use it for loads of different reasons. I think UA-cam has more versatility. The key is not all about going viral but keeping it steady 💯
Neither! I personally think that shorts or TikTok are an example of how short the human races attention span has become. Instant gratification, needing to be entertained constantly by silly short videos of people doing silly things. Yes, I realize it is the
'new' thing to get into, but honestly, I'm so uninterested in short videos, I find it hard to be interested in creating them. Lol! Obviously showing my age.
Thank you so much for the tips!! I’m half way to monetizing because of all your help
Good work Dan, thank you!
Thanks for the info👍
I used to be opposed to UA-cam shorts, probably because I didn't know how to "properly" use them. Now, I somehow gained over 400 subscribers in 4 days with just frequent youtube shorts.
Thank you for insight. 🙏🏼🙏🏼 I'd do both, meh. Cross-posting to both is very low-effort anyway.
Does changing location matters
Good job thanks so much vidIQ
YT is the default app you in your phone without downloading. So it makes sense when users with limited storage or is usually use UA-cam to watch long videos but those youtubers also upload shorts that people got addicted to it and continue to watch them
For me tiktok is better.
common croatia W
tiktoks just chronically online people
Hey guys, have you noticed that UA-cam now straight up prevents you from adding custom thumbnails to shorts? I know they didn't appear in the Shorts section anyway, but at least you could see them in Studio, and they were there in a Playlist. Now it's impossible to easily differentiate between shorts videos on my channel, and I suspect on everyone's :(
There are many rumors on custom thumbnails for shorts right now, we all need to wait a bit...
@@vidIQ I don’t mind waiting, as long as they don’t remove functionality that was there just yesterday in the meantime 🙁
Instagram is by far better. Literally an order, and sometimes 2 orders, of magnitude more views, likes, followers across the board vs UA-cam shorts.
The audio sample are far better and you can actually make something from another audio that’s longer than 15 seconds.
I do a lil bit of both
My shorts never get more than 10k and always seem to stop after 30 minutes any specific reasons why they stop so quickly??
Shorts have really been helping my channels. I do a mixture of both short and long.
as a small content creator (on youtube shorts) it is not worth it, I used to get 3-6k on every vid, now i am getting 0,1,2s only and not even getting recommended anymore, i post my content and people are out there stealing tiktok memes/ content and going viral. thanks
Thank u as always
To be honest youtube is hard to grow but I prefer youtube .youtube should just add more features like more effects ,sounds, duets ,and youtube is the deal
Thanks for the tips 🎉
As a beginner channel i really recommend uploading daily and never look back, learn from your mistakes make sure the content is good and trending so that it gets recognition and it blows up one day and keep going never give up ❤
In india, tik tok is banned. So I prefer yt shorts instead of instagram reels
love the content! anyone know how i can have my channel audited from vidIQ?
Small channel owners, never give up. You can do it. You are always 1 video away from your best video to date.
Whoever reading this. I pray that whatever you are going through get better and what ever you struggling with or worrying about is going to be fine. And that everyone has a fantastic day. Amen.
I’m trying to upload shorts but my views are starting to go down again. Just like what happens a few months ago. Might quit shorts or views don’t start going up for the next couple weeks
I am just someone who post on both, actually i post on 3 Apps. Shorts, TikTok and Instagram via Reels. Since I edit my short videos on PC anyway I can just upload them via my phone anywhere tbh. I don´t create content for TikTok only, because if I have the chance to uploud on several apps at the same time, why not?
Not a fan of the Tok. But I recently went back and uploaded a video that’s done really well on Shorts. Recently though I’m finding the same short videos doing better as ‘normal’ videos on YT than they do as YT shorts. Could change though I guess
I've certainly seen other examples of what you're saying. Either way, seems like something is working for you. So congrats!
@@vidIQ hey thanks! And thanks for your work @vidIQ, it’s been a huge help
It's a nice way for smaller channels to get viewers.
Sometimes posting the same videos on tok and they perform completely different on both platforms
Had one Video on Tiktok which suddenly picked up and now has about 38k views.
Posted in the same minute on YT shorts and it got 100 views 😅
Hey guys can someone pls help me with me question . i wonder if u post a video ,that is long form and then it doesn't do well in the first hours , days ,weeks or maybe even two months will the algorithm just keep on hiding that video or coz im confuzed
Thank you for your tips
I create one content and upload it to both of tiktok and youtube. you say about youtube in US, what about youtube in Asia ? does youtube still be the most favorite platform in Asia, especially among the youngster people ?
I use both, but only watch UA-cam shorts, same with my dog's accounts
Can't stand TikTok, not a fan of short form content in general, but YT Shorts really did help me to get some initial growth (although now I'm left with mostly zombie subscribers...).
Both
I wish in my sub feed there would be a separate column for shorts, its annoying to see all the crap.
UA-cam need to work on there editing on shorts and thumbnail also like tiktok
Just posted two shorts in the past two days and got so many views, I am now so close to 300 subs!
Hey congrats!! That's awesome!
Man i was like oh no is shorts now worse then long form.
Wow thanks this info 💖
Personally I do UA-cam shorts, I built an audience on UA-cam with long form videos, and now they like my shorts, so I post one every day to have some kind of consistency!
Because of Duets and Stitching TikTok will maintain the lead but this gives UA-cam the advantage of learning and innovating on those features.
