"Honestly, i don't know anything about cars"
Is pretty much the worst thing you can say to a mechanic.
Whenever I go to a mechanic I google how much it would cost first lol
If you do know a lot about cars that's a good way to test if mechanic can be trusted
Just like telling a cop “I was only going 5mph over the speed limit” 😂
@@pawerutyna8357 My thoughts exactly. I went to a mechanic one time with a transmission issue, but I had just changed the fluid and filter the week before. So when they tried to tell me it looked like the fluid had never been changed, I knew they were dishonest and I left
Also never say you're not in a hurry to have it fixed. That just makes them take their sweet time. When you go to a mechanic you ALWAYS need it done ASAP.
Those mechanics have the cleanest shirts I've ever seen.
Just noticed. And they are wearing white too 😂😂😭
It's the cleaning of the goo, goo is strong acid like liquid, much like bleach, hence it's white, has washed away all the colours of the shirts
For the prices they charge, they can buy a white Louis Vuitton shirt every day instead of washing.

Similarly, never say " I don't know anything about this " to any concerned authority looking to fix the problem, in general . Most of the time , it goes horribly wrong
I always say that when I see a new mechanic. I'm no expert but I know enough to see when they are trying to screw me.
Don't go to a shitty mechanic and they won't try and take advantage of you.

Go ahead an tell a mechanic that you know everything because internet... see what happens. LOL.
wouldn't trust no mechanic wearing a clean white T shirt
I know it's a comedy video but service writers are a thing.
But some take it a step too far , not even washing their hands before heading to the near store. Like , okay we get it that you work , but no need to touch everything with dirty ass hands.
As a once ASE master technician and certified diesel technician, I always work coveralls and gloves to keep myself clean. Customers don't want to see a greaseball getting out of their car and at reputable shops, we would end up with a cleaning bill. Granted there was a smudge or two on my face if I couldn't wash up before a face-to-face but I take being clean as a sign of being a professional.

That's sad. I live in the 3rd world , in a small village. The village is known for mechanics and painters , everyone with their respectable small business yet none of us screw their customers. It kind of amazes me that in the first world they'd do that. But , yes , if you visit the big "authorized service/dealerships" , prepare to go broke. They'd do that. And even worse , they often hire absolute clueless people who have no idea what are they even doing there and why they applied for the said job.

Btw folks, dentists are not a whole lot better than mechanics.
I went to a dentist once that said I had 4 cavities, and was going to cost me a fortune, and they absolutely do not take insurance, and no dentists in the state take insurance and this is as good as it’s gonna get. I knew something didn’t sound right at all, so I left. I looked up the reviews online and seen this place was a nightmare. Love how the boyfriend understood what they were doing knowing he does the same thing lmao
I needed to have my van's sliding side door repaired after it fell off the van. I called a dozen car shops, and only one said they would even attempt it (the rest said they had no idea how to fix it). That one wanted about $650 to do the job (4 hours labor, the rest "parts"). I went onto UA-cam, and found a 10-minute video showing exactly what to do. I watched it three times, bought the one part needed (a roller assembly for $90), and spent the next twenty minutes doing it myself (successfully). I saved myself $550, and confirmed that most mechanics are crooks.
The 4 people that disliked this video had to pay for their Shawshank to get Redemption and that Polyjuice potion.
Love it how her boyfriend had to play along cos he's the mechanic also 🤣

"And your block chain is just oozing Yao Ming." I lost it. LMFAO
For those wondering, if you do an oil change yourself, it should cost around $29-$40. It all depends on the type of oil and oil filter your car needs. And that’s it.
And always change your blinker fluid.
Don't forget to rotate your wiper blades, swap out the tire's summer air for winter air, and drain the coolant in the winter so the engine doesn't freeze.
Have you done it in real life or just heard it or red it in theory? Tsk

This actually happen to me once before. Just went for an oil change and they told me i needed a bunch of other stuff fixed. Luckily my dad is a mechanic and it was just a bunch of bullshit. I never went back to that place again.
I went to a Toyota dealership for an oil change. They told me I REALLY needed new transmission fluid. I asked how they knew and whether they checked the fluid. They said they had. I told them, that's funny, because I actually personally flushed my transmission fluid 3 months ago. The guy didn't have s*it to say after that. I checked it again when I got home and sure enough, looked pretty nice and red and smelled like normal transmission fluid. I was pretty pissed and called back up there to complain. I should have asked for a manager right there but oh well. I got rid of the car shortly after anyway. I thought Toyota as a company was great, but not their regular service center!
This is far too accurate. Everyone, make sure you have either a trustworthy mechanic, or friends who know their stuff. One of my friends (a girl) got quoted $1500 for a transmission fluid change. Stay woke kids
A friend of mine was quoted 800 for two valve cover gaskets on an F-150. Some of these shops really are scammers
@@greasylake4438 Is that not roughly what they would cost? I don't know much about the f150's, but on euro cars the valve cover gasket is a reasonably large job. While the part itself, the gasket it really cheap, it's a lot of work getting to them, at least on BMW's
@@mattw4211 it should be nowhere near that, at least not here in houston. The valve covers are easy on the Ford trucks, just take off the coils and the cover then replace the gasket. I directed her to a good shop and they did it for less than 300.

Bruh the acting between all the actors was fabulous! 😍
I once had a problem with my goose pipe. Took months to clear up.
Honestly I relate to this so much. It's sad that nobody really teaches you this stuff, it's like as soon as you're an adult you're magically expected to know all this stuff. I try my best to use Google and UA-cam to understand what's going on in my car but there's always a limit to how much you can teach yourself using common sense. I still have to rely a lot on trying to read my mechanic's tone of voice and body language and make an educated guess based on social cues more than based on solid mechanical knowledge. I like to think that at least stops me from getting scammed on the big obvious stuff.
One thing that's helped is that when I go to Valvoline or Jiffy Lube or those kind of chains, the technician, if they are helpful, can sometimes point out little problems that they've noticed in your car. Because they don't fix anything in their shop they have less of an incentive to lie as they don't profit from it, so I can then take that information to the mechanic. That's how I was notified of a slow leak in my engine lubrication due to a worn out seal
I lost it at Shawshank 😂😂😂😂
The fact that you got Erik Griffin to appear in this......AMAZING. Dude is awesome.

Some professions just make corruption easy. Dentists, Mechanics, Plumbers, Priests, Shrinks, Gurus etc. Basically anyone whose business depends on you having something to fix.
I honestly love when mechanics do that, I go for a routine oil change. Then they tell me what's wrong what needs to be replaced thinking they'll make a quick buck. Next thing you know I change it myself.
My last 2 oil changes I was met with a list of problems that currently totals around $5000 +. Each time they keep adding to the list. Its been 2.5 years and nothing has gone wrong. Maybe eventually my car will collapse to the ground, but at least then I will KNOW there is something wrong. I should get an inspection done at another shop and see if they find the same problems.
her shawshank need redemption
this is a funny because its true video. Because of their ridiculous prices and the low quality labor I started to do my own mechanic work. Of all the things I have learned about mechanics is that it is not that difficult. And every time I fix something I am so overjoyed that it was done right and that those f#&kers did get my money.
