My dad and I work as roadside mechanics and we’ve talked about this sort of thing with our clients before about how other mechanics would absolutely 100% fuck up your car just to get you to pay them more so they can actually fix it proper. We even had one instance where we were working on someone’s car with another mechanic that the client called and when we had to go to the junkyard to pick up some extra spare parts, we came back and find that the other mechanic fucked up the car a little more and even undead some of the work my dad and I did. I've been fixing my own car for a while now, never took it to a mechanic, and my neighbors assume I'm a mechanic. Whenever they ask me if I can fix their car I tell them straight up, "I'm not a mechanic and I only know how to work on MY car". They don't understand, they think all cars are the same.
Some people just don't see the difference between being a handyman, and having proper training. Good on you tho for being able to work on your car tho, even if it's just your car, that still takes skill.

If it's low then make sure you go into your local auto parts store and ask them if they have any available. It it's really low, say completely dry, then get to a mechanic ASAP. Headlights can explode from overheating if you don't maintain the headlight fluid.
