In my opinion, no matter who the athlete is, if he, or she is caught cheating, it cannot be the best / goat. Jon was caught in multiple instances.

Without taking nothing out of khabib cause he allready at the top, but jones needed to be in adversity because he faced nonstop legends and killers. If he would have dominated all of these men, we would have watched goku reveal itself.

Rule of life, it takes forever to ear respect and integrity, but a moment to lose it all, Khabib has not had that yet, but John Jones has many. The word they used was flawless, and in my humble opinion that is the decider in naming the GOAT. For me Khabib is the GOAT.
Also anyone in the media or UFC naming Jones as the GOAT, I would seriously question their integrity.
UFC isn't a sport of morals or integrity. It's one of combat ability and based on who they have beaten Jon deserves the title more.

Khabib will never beat jon jones in the goat conversation purely because he retired too quickly to show his true potential against more dangerous opposition. It's down to a what if conversation. If Islam dominates for ages then I think that would be the best way to gauge his potential greatness
Plus at the end of the day khabib beat only people that were mainly strikers. Dustin, gaethje, mcgregor, iaquinta etc... Jones smashed all competition, even dc.
He beat quite convincingly all the opponents that fought against him. People are arguing that he lost 2 rounds in his career. Never did he bleed, nor was in trouble. The fights against expert wrestler would have been even easier for him, but it's not his fault that there were no better wrestlers in his division.

We cand say Charles, but now it's irrelevant, because at that time he was not a contender. Khabib beat Connor (2 divisions champ), RDA champion, Dustin interim champ, Justin number 1 contender. You really think Tony, or Chandler would have been a problem for him? The thing is, Khabib was never in trouble, while Jon was multiple times. To me, Khabin was just so much better then the rest of the division, even though everyone knew his game plan, they couldn't do anything againt him. He just dominated everyone. Jon in my view didn't. I would argue that he lost against Gustafsson and Reyes, but I cannot argue that Khabib lost even a round. Maybe I am biased as an ex wrestler, but that is my opinion. Jon on the other hand is a proven cheater. For me he is the Lance Armstrong of UFC. Once he failed the drug test against DC, I couldn't take him seriously anymore.
@@shinyori Khabib was better than the all his division. I'm not discrediting khabib, he would handily beat the chandlers and Tony especially (unless that justin beating done a number on him). Like you said Charles could've presented and challenge, and I think khabib probably would've won. But khabib retired for now and best we got is machachev who could be same level or better. Khabib retired too early though to be considered greatest even with his complete domination l, cause jones done the same before he fought the top calibur fighters and still won mostly in dominant fashion.
I've not watched jones gustavson fully so I can't say about that. And while there is an argument for jones losing to reyes, which I think probably he lost the 5 rounder. Jones was not in any trouble whatsoever he took last two rounds handily and would've won, so I wouldn't put that "loss" to lack of skill, and he dominated gustavson in their second fight.
But jones I a steroid cheat so who knows how well he would've performed clean

Thats a fair point but the fact is he retired. So he never got to show it. I also believe Khabib techincally may of lost one of his fights early on his career - although he was declared victor.

Jones resume has to be compared to what his opponents ended up doing. Without a doubt, the biggest scalp he has is Daniel Cormier even though in the second fight he was on PEDs. Outside of DC, I think he lost in the Reyes fight, and Reyes has lost two fights since then. The Santos fight was close but I think Jones had it, but again Santos has lost 11 times. Gustaffson has lost 8 times. Anthony Smith has lost 17 times. St Preux has lost 16 times. Texeira has lost 8 times. Chael Sonnen 17 losses. Belfort 14 losses. Quintin Jackson 14 losses. Machida 12 losses. Shogun 13 losses. The point being that the resume he fought, bar one or two people, was not elite.
If you don't think dominating guys like Shogun, Machida, Rampage, TRT Belfort, prime Gustavsson, Texiera in your early 20s is that special you haven't been watching MMA. Never knocked down or on his back for more than a second as champion for nine years and 14 title defenses you won't probably see it ever again in the sport
Jones' opponents don't remain the same after they fight him. He simply takes something out of them if you want to word it like that. There are fighters who would make you retire if you fight them.
Sugar Ray Leonard beat one of his opponents in amateurs in such a brutal fashion, the guy was never the same. He never boxed again.

Because there was no high level grappler in khabib's lightweight division. Khabib's opponents like justin gaethje, conor, dustin and ... were more strikers and they were all weak in grappling and fight on the ground. Conor before fighting with khabib was defeated by nate diaz via submission. Gaethje and poirier also defeated by oliviera by submission.
Khabib will be the goat of MMA like Zinedine Zidane in football. His record would be his fighting record + his pupils record.
