Hey Yammie, I'm 5'10 and I have persuaded my parents to let me move from dirtbikes to sports-bikes. I haven't ridden my dirtbike in about 3 years because of no-lifeing CSGO and I want to get back into riding but I SERIOUSLY want a sports bike. Which beginner bike do you recommend I should buy? I was thinking a Kawasaki 400 ABS; what do you think?
You just about hit the nail on the head when it comes to the fact we ascribe meaning to objects. Here's why I'm attached to mine. My father owned 2 BMW S1000RR bikes, one for the road and one for the track. Back in 2011 he was at a track day at Barber Motorsports Park when, entering the corner that the museum overlooks, he had a stroke at 138 mph. He was a fit and muscular dude so he survived the initial trauma. He however succumbed to his injuries about a month later. I was left with his road going S1000 as the track bike was totaled beyond repair. Back then I was scared of the 600 I tried to ride earlier that year. But I knew I was never going to get rid of my dad's bike. I didn't build up the nerve to ride the BMW until 5 years later. That whole time it stayed in our garage with 1500 miles on it, untouched. The nerve came about after we took it to a dealership to get the fuel lines and a bunch of other stuff replaced. That was when the service manager, same person who helped my father out getting his track bike ready, told me that I either had to ride it or sell it. As it would just fall apart if I let it sit for any longer. Since then I've logged 15K additional miles on the bike that I've affectionately named Spitfire. She's taken me to many places and events since I started riding, and I've met so many new friends along the way. The connection I have to this piece of machinery is a strong one. Even if it breaks down and can no longer function, it's turning into a museum piece in my home lol. Having something that my father was the original owner of, and being able to take care of it myself, is something I will always cherish. Little note about the bike as well. After my father's accident, we had the original stock fairings from his track bike installed on his street bike I ride today. My bike means alot to me lol.
I own a 2014 BMW S1000R. While it's not exactly the same bike, I adore it! I would compare it more to a sniper rifle then to a soulless machine. Something that's very reliable and precise, you know what to expect every time you get on it. For me it's the ultimate combination of power, looks, reliability and support/comfort (electronics, suspension, handlebar heaters, riding modes etc.). What's left to say: Good work on experimenting with new projects Yammie! Keep it up! Cheers from Switzerland
I have a '17 S1KR...not sure why everyone who doesn't own says it's soulless or just another in line 4 "screamer" engine like it supposed to be something negative. There's something to be said about a machine people criticize for being being too good....and I find it quite rowdy and exciting when you want (aka wheelies all day) or if you use another mode you can ride like a cruiser with the dynamic suspension.
@@BernardSolomon they are reliable. I've put 6.5k miles on mine in 4 months, no issues. You change the oil every 6k miles as well. Low maintenance and awesome. And the rider puts the soul into the bike same with everything else in life. I feel bad for those people
6.5k miles on an in-line 4 cylinder and no issues? WOAH what a suprise! bike costs around 20.000€ and has no issues in the first 6000 miles lmfao, any other bike costing one third of this has the same reliability. I have a 2015 S1000RR and I love it. After years or Harleys and other Cruisers, I decided to try sport bikes. The Ninja 1000 i had my eyes on sold a week before I got home, so I looked through their inventory again and saw an all black S1000RR. My last bike being a 2008 Harley Crossbones, which was mostly blacked out except for the chrome spring up front, it caught my eye as the bike I needed. I was actually scared to take a sport bike out for the first time, as I have heard horror stories and also the day I bought it, it was raining a bit. Before I rode it off the lot (and I did, I just left my car there for 2 days, haha) they told me to put it in rain mode as it will be a lot more forgiving. But i did fall in love with it. Being a bit older I worried about my knees being crouched up all the time, but i find i have fewer back issues on a sport bike than on a cruise. Since then, I bought a 2000 Ducati 900 supersport. I actually switched from a Ninja 1000 (if you not confuse it with the ZX-10R), which is called Z1000SX in Europe to a 2017 S1000RR. Although the Kawa was a really nice bike, it was way to boring for me. The engine was really good, but the sound was.. meh. It really felt weighty arround corners and stuff, so I finally decided to go for the BMW. And oh my god was that one of the best decisions I made in my life. This bike is so absolutely fantastic in every way. When you drive it normally and the engine screams at you: "FASTER! HIGHER REV! GO, GO, GO!", especially since the SC Project S1 Slip On is mounted. And when you finally close the throttle it thanks you with some slight backfire. Man I love this thing. I will never get how THAT can be clicinal it all. For me it is pure emotion driving that thing. I'm totally looking forward to go on the race track next year.
Dude! This is a dope video! Excellent thoughts (and great quality production), I am super into the yamonologue. Pleeeease more intellectualism in moto content!!!
Hey mate, you are a fantastic writer and orator, I really enjoy your content and please, please, please, if you get another bike, don't go crazy again, save that for the track, we need you around for at least a little while, now how is that for a long sentence!!
This is my favorite video I have seen from you. I love the philosophical side, and the fact that you use evidence to support an intelligent point you are making.
Love mine. Is it clinical? Yes. But I'd rather be able to count on controlling all those horse than overcoming some wild beast with an on-off throttle and no safety gizmos. I like how you wrapped the video up. Great job.
I have a 2016 and wouldn't say it's clinical. It gets a bit 'uppity' when you let it run over 12,000 rpm in the first few gears when on the track. On the road, it's a complete gentleman. Great road manners and a fantastic bike. On the track it's a farking beast.
The whole inline 4 is soulless argument is kinda BS. It just has a different character but has just been over done. A uncorked inline sounds like an F1 car where as a v4 sounds like a v8 but the v4 is much more rare and desirable. Funny thing is the Yamaha R1 crossplane inline sounds exactly like a v4 (same firing order)
Came from a 959 to an s1000rr too. If personality is not starting on a humid day, knock yourself out. The bmw is just better in every way, that’s personality to me.
I own a Pannigale, have owned a Gixxer, Blade etc... I MISS MY S1000RR. I fucking love the s1000rr, it's unbelievably good. Best bike ever and I'll but the new one when it comes out, if it's as good as I expect.
The S1000RR is the Perfect example of German Engineering,so good that it makes the bike feel a bit Bland because everything is just perfectly engineered and has no obvious flaws.
What does that mean it feels bland? I've never understood people saying that. Do you not like the electronics? Is it the ride by wire throttle? Bland is absolutely the wrong word describe the RR or the R
@@rewmeister idk. When someone is too perfect, u dont love the flaws. For example, my aprilia sx50 is a bike I HATED. totally electronic, boring, no soul, money grabber. There was no flaws. for example, my honda mt5 wasnt perfect. It had a random power delivery (it being a 2 stroke but the Aprilia also was) The "flaws" about mt5, was the things I loved.
Yammy! Well done, continue the essays. I discovered you around 2017. Since then, I have appreciated your personal openness about you and your family, and the events that led you into this UA-cam journey; your content has been entertaining, but it has been classy, above the norm, so thank you for the great work. Thank you
Hey yammi new to the channel... I don't ride yet and would like to start... Anyways these last few video essay videos are really hitting the nail on the head for me. Making me wonder about the reason I wanna start riding and why we as humans look for the feeling whatever it may be, that we get while riding. PS I was also born in Sao Paulo, Brazil and raised in the US. Love your style and the channel. Best of luck ma dudeski ✌️
If you're gonna start riding i suggest the Hayabusa. It has a mild 200cc engine from a modified Suzuki Gimny that is easy on the rider and gives a good 50 horsepower.
I have exactly the black s1000RR (2013) you show in the beginning. I LOVE THIS MACHINE. Literally EVERY ride is an adventure on this thing and makes me howl, scream, laugh out loud and sing the theme of Airwolf when I'm speeding (yep I'm an 80's kid). So, I very much disagree with what you very nicely tried to state which of course is your own opinion #thumbsup You know what? I'm gonna ride it right away \o/
Riding an S1000RR is different from owning one. If you think computer is too intrusive you can put it in slick mode and the bike comes alive. Sorry to say this but, you didn't have this bike enough. This bike It is amazing in every way. You have to get use to it first and that only comes with time not with a 15 minute ride.
Thank you for this video! I have always wanted one and now getting a bmw1000. I showed this video to my girl and she loved it! You are able to exsplaine many good things in a good way. Good job keep it up!
I would agree with your take on the S1000RR-- soulLESS. This is exactly why I love this bike. Its like a Decepticon from outer space. It is a clinical weapon. It is cold and calculated. When I ride the bike its telling me that its better than me. It is as if it is saying "you are NOT worthy of me... let me ride myself you mere mortal!"
This was actually amazing. I’ve been having car troubles and I’m really missing the experience of driving. It’s part of what defines me as a person and she’s always been my sense of comfort. I related all the way through this video.
I own an R1, and i wish i had just saved for the s1000rr. the s1000rr is my dream bike and I found a good deal on an R1, and every time i'm on it i just wish it was the s1000rr instead.
Precisely my thoughts over the past 8-9 yrs of watching these machines overpopulate the streets. Soulless precision. Thanks for your take on these and look forward to more of these
Love my S1000RR. It's a bike that I can take out on the road or the track - push hard, and the bike just melds. I don't have to think about it's quirks or foibles - it just does exactly what I tell it to. And then when I'm tired and sore with miles to go before I get home, I've got a comfortable seat, heated grips and cruise control for the straight slabs. It's a superbike with lights, that is somehow also a comfortable everyday bike.
this is really wonderful it makes me feel like all those people in my life telling me not to ride a motorcycle don't seem to understand why i would want to, this video gives a really wonderful perspective one that i relate to a lot, thank you.
Just wanted to say this video was epic! I loved every second of it 🔥🔥🔥 I live in belgium where we have the system with a3/a2/a1 lisence tho ive skipped the lower power classes and went full power the first time... tho you,v got be 24 years minimum
I agree with you 100%. I think material attachment often leads to stress because of concerns about maintenance, depreciation, damage, repair, keeping up with the Joneses, etc... But riding and caring for a bike can give you experiences that you can't get anywhere else. I rode an S1000RR once and it left me kind of cold too... even though I was on a track. It was too perfect maybe? It was hard to spot any flaws. Even the deliberate attempt at introducing imperfection by installing asymmetrical headlights really only makes it more perfect.
Honestly I can say that Yammie is my favorite UA-camr. No one puts this amount of effort into a 10ish minute video. It isn't purely entertaining for the brain dead masses and it isn't straight monochromatic information transferred in the most efficient way possible. This is truly information being passed on in it's purest form, interest. You can tell that the creator is interested in what they are talking about when it is interesting to watch and listen to them talking about it and both parties are benefiting because of it. The long and short of it is, Yammie is my favorite because he cares and isn't just doing it to get another video up. He has an interest that he knows can be shared and benefit all parties involved. Thanks Yammie Noob!
I ride a bicycle and want to have an s1000rr when I grow up ..... someone asked me what do I find in riding I told him my bike is not a thing it's my friend i even talk to it and its 2 years old now but I still enjoy cleaning it up and taking a good look at it

Interesting video, I've always been on/off about the s1000rr but your video made a good point that it's about a relationship you create with the bike. It really doesn't matter what bike you end up on, to be cliche, it's the journey that counts. Thanks!
I ride a 2017 S1000RR. I’ve been riding her “intimate object” for a little over a year. I tend to leave my bikes stock for the first year before making any serious modifications. Smaller items like tires, brakes, etc are changed to fine tune the bike to my personal specifications. Power adders are done in the second year after I have acquired a comfort level and some seat time with the bike. I currently have ~16k on the bike, with a few hotdog moments, a couples of track days and now I feel comfortable enough to start making modifications. First I will put the bike on the Dyno to see what I am working with from the factory. After that I will install a full exhaust and remapping with a professional tune. I basically follow this process with every bike that I have ever owned. My 2015 ZX14R, was no different. I enjoyed your video and I believe that you have to own and ride an S1000RR for at the very least six months, then make another video about the type of “soul” or feeling that riding this type of machine on a daily basis can generate. I personally own 10 bikes, from a 1076 KZ900 to a 1991 GL 1500. A 1989 GSXR 1100 and a couple of TX650 Yamaha twins. I usually have a minimum of 4 bikes insured and plated because I ride for specific feelings or needs. Right this moment my S1KRR is my daily personal favorite, but I am pretty fickle when it comes to machines. For now this one gets to spend the cold Michigan winters in the living room. Totally understand the pre-ownership feeling, as I frequently got my a$$ handed to me by this kid at work on his highly modified 2015 S1KRR at the race track. So I bought one as a gift to myself for my 57th bday. Sadly I am already thinking about the new rendition of the S1000RR. To me personally being able to program the suspension, and hp to suit the situation is one of the LOVE items that puts this bike in the house for the winter. Thanks!

I couldn't disagree with you any more on this. My s1000 has so much more personality than my 959. Nothing has made me feel more than my S1000
A BMW with more soul than a 959 :-) Can I have some of your drugs please.
Personality or not I think the s1000 is an awesome bike. Wish I could afford one, have to settle for an old K1200RS lol ;)
I love this, thankyou for being a genuine legend and making fantastic content.
This is best video ever. Never thought I would ever find such content on a motoblogger video.
The s1000rr is absolutely my dream ride
Same here bruh🔥🔥🔥 hope you get one too someday :')
1:41 minutes in and I can already tell you put passion into this one. Type of stuff I joined for back when. gj!
@@rewmeister elctronics make everything bland.
@@rewmeister idk.
When someone is too perfect, u dont love the flaws.
For example, my aprilia sx50 is a bike I HATED. totally electronic, boring, no soul, money grabber.
There was no flaws.
for example, my honda mt5 wasnt perfect.
It had a random power delivery (it being a 2 stroke but the Aprilia also was)
The "flaws" about mt5, was the things I loved.
If you think the S1000RR is bland, you should ride yours more at around 14,000 rpm. There's nothing bland about that shit at all.
Yammy!
Well done, continue the essays. I discovered you around 2017. Since then, I have appreciated your personal openness about you and your family, and the events that led you into this UA-cam journey; your content has been entertaining, but it has been classy, above the norm, so thank you for the great work.
Thank you
The new RR 2019 is a masterpiece, at much better price than Panigale V4 R.
Or you can get a V4S
I have a2016 bmw 1000r and I love it cause it puts a smile on my face and does exactly what I ask it and doesn’t try to kill me in the process
Adding to above, with your essays, I feel like I am not living my life to the fullest. May be I should do something meaningful with it.
If you're gonna start riding i suggest the Hayabusa. It has a mild 200cc engine from a modified Suzuki Gimny that is easy on the rider and gives a good 50 horsepower.
Raymond XL excellent choice indeed
Came here for another list video, got completely blown away by the amazing bike philosophy lecture. Amazing video hooman
So, I very much disagree with what you very nicely tried to state which of course is your own opinion #thumbsup
You know what? I'm gonna ride it right away \o/
Barry Rijkse buying a 2013 have you had any major problems ?
So basically, he doesnt like it cause it has no flaws?
Riding an S1000RR is different from owning one. If you think computer is too intrusive you can put it in slick mode and the bike comes alive.
Sorry to say this but, you didn't have this bike enough. This bike It is amazing in every way.
You have to get use to it first and that only comes with time not with a 15 minute ride.
Just love your articulate monologues. Verrry deep at times, highly intelligent and insightful! You're a great writer.
Da faq u talking bout
gtirsblow 😂😂👍🏽👍🏽
EXACTLY!!!!!!!
It is as if it is saying "you are NOT worthy of me... let me ride myself you mere mortal!"
thats spot on . I love mine, its like alien hardware. even looks like a alien
Really enjoyed this video and the one about the vicarious experience. You’re a great writer! Keep up the good work!
This was actually amazing. I’ve been having car troubles and I’m really missing the experience of driving. It’s part of what defines me as a person and she’s always been my sense of comfort. I related all the way through this video.
ayyyyy i’m not alone! My Daytona just kicked the bucket last thursday :(
What happened?
yeah, what happened?
Man! I don't know why i like your videos. But in your videos you talk about things that people generally only 'think' and not speak. Thanks
I own an R1, and i wish i had just saved for the s1000rr. the s1000rr is my dream bike and I found a good deal on an R1, and every time i'm on it i just wish it was the s1000rr instead.
Dude. The BMW is great, but the R1 is nothing to shake a stick at
I was about to buy a used s1000rr but the new R1 was my dream bike so I saved enough for it.
Precisely my thoughts over the past 8-9 yrs of watching these machines overpopulate the streets. Soulless precision. Thanks for your take on these and look forward to more of these
I'm confused on how this went on to a psychological lesson
Yammie is killing it again, huge information in the content ,definitely quality over anything
Good thing you are still alive fuvker
Damn that was actually a great video,I didn’t think I’d watch it all.
me too. I appreciated this one. May watch it again.
Yammer is BACK!! And in top form here. Welcome back Yamster-we missed you dude.
Keith Wilson what year ? I’m buying a 2013 should I be good I know the 2012 has problems and recalls .
I can tell you enjoy making these. It comes through, making the videos enjoyable too. Good work daddy yam, good work.
Cool vids . Awesome content . U are the person who made me get into biking . 👍
This video is so deep and thoughtful, you totally got yourself a new sub
It's so good, even you would have a hard time crashing it. Calling it soulless however is absurd.
We dont fall in love with objects, we fall in love with the feelings the objects give us
Love is a feeling no?
0:39 what? there is no Turbo hayabusa from the dealership... people can modify it.
I was thinking the same thing. Stock Busa's are naturally aspirated
This dude either doesn't know sheet or he tries to trigger people with his wrong info
this is really wonderful it makes me feel like all those people in my life telling me not to ride a motorcycle don't seem to understand why i would want to, this video gives a really wonderful perspective one that i relate to a lot, thank you.
Just wanted to say this video was epic!
I loved every second of it 🔥🔥🔥
I live in belgium where we have the system with a3/a2/a1 lisence tho ive skipped the lower power classes and went full power the first time... tho you,v got be 24 years minimum
This vid would be wayyy cool if you were actually on a bike talking about facts bro.
Best video ever, not just about the S1000RR but the you put it in words about humans being "homo faber". Really man it touched my heart
You can talk one hour and said nothing
Haha this guy is still alive? I stopped watching this guy like 2 years ago
Yet you're commenting on his video......
Now I want to do drugs and cry softly in the bathtub.
Casual street rider provides his useless opinion about a track weapon. Did I miss anything?
You are on the wrong channel. He isn´t talking about speed "bruh", he is talking about track weapons.
you missed that this is banter
I ride a bicycle and want to have an s1000rr when I grow up ..... someone asked me what do I find in riding I told him my bike is not a thing it's my friend i even talk to it and its 2 years old now but I still enjoy cleaning it up and taking a good look at it
And then Kawasaki came out with the H2R and roffol stomped the entire market
Not really the Kawasaki h2r is totally different class bike. Also the h2s lap times don't get close to the ones of the BMW
@@p0s3s3sD if you would have actually learn to read in grade school and you would have noticed I said waffles topped the market as a whole not just the track world I mean the ZX-10R is World champion in the hands of Johnny Ray multiple years in a row
@@ytfrank4412 no the zx14r the Hayabusas only good in a straight line the H2 can throw around better than most bikes and better than most people think
@@pickles4412 well English is only my fourth language so no I didn't learn it in grade school. And you didn't say anything about waffles? Neither did you refer to the zx-10 you referred to an the H2r which isn't even street legal also it is a turbo bike. And also why do you have to get so defensive? I simply pointed out some facts. Mainly the fact that Kawasaki did not stomp the market with the H2R
@@p0s3s3sD Kawasaki did Stomp the market with the H2 it won Pirelli bike of the year when it launched in 2015 because it was the first production supercharged motorcycle and yeah they h2r is not street legal they did that on purpose that's what the r stands for stands for racing it's a track bike that's what it does. It was designed to do that's what it does well
This is the best Yammie video...really made me feel something and not just absorb info.
Great great video ✨✨✨
Hmm... I think the cold unrelenting efficiency of the S1000RR fits the superbike ideal perfectly. It would be in the top 3 liter bike considerations if I were looking for one - the other two being the R1 and Panigale.
i love how you say at 9:37 some may prefer more reliable bikes and show a photo of a ducati panigale v4 xD
that was funny
wtf another video am i in heaven?
Great videos, please keep this up!!!
Can you do one of this with the Yamaha yzf r125 ?
Or R15
well its a 125 for starters (just kidding)
@@Raez_XL yep for safety proposes yammie should get the yzf r15v3 that is ...
I hear it's not good lol
It's a great starter bike, for sure the best 125.
Great video sir.! I especially like your dive into material objects and the way we attach meaning to them ~ I've always struggled with justifying the way I attach myself to my motorbikes/aeroplanes (I'm an aircraft maintenance engineer). You really answered a lot of questions for me!
Cheers from Brisbane Australia 🇦🇺
1. Wrong cylinder count
2. Wrong engine orientation
3. Wrong final drive
4. Wrong cooling system
Django Goffin oh so you like slow, ancient, overpriced garbage. Good to know.
@@Crob56 I'll give you slow, overpriced and ancient, but the old R's weren't garbage. Even if they were, I like them.
Thought you were referring to Harley lol
@@Crob56 Harleys still have the crank the wrong way (transverse instead in longitudinal), belt drive is bad drive (shaft ftw) and oil cooled > air cooled.
The only thing bad about the HP4 is that it isn't an HP2, really.
Any "properly made" beginner/ general sport bikes you would recommend?
this is such a funny and boyish combination of content; philosophy and dank whoolies. some friends of mine keep laughing about how teenage boys can go from swearing for no reason to talking about their feelings in an instant, and it's sort of a beautiful part of being human. as always, great videos, you cubist
I want one :'(
me too its my love❤😢
Who doesnt want one???
@@kazumaishimaru8394 not me :)
me too. my co-worker told me he rode one and the acceleration was so quick it made his head dizzy. I thought my 600RR was fast until I heard this.
Love the video mate, the philosophical outlook is very refreshing, I completely agree.
Forst
Very thoughtful video. I really enjoy how deep you get in your content. Keep it up brother
Yammie your word play is freakin phenomenal.....always is man. Love the Videos!
Keep up the Video Essay format. Im loving it!
Interesting video, I've always been on/off about the s1000rr but your video made a good point that it's about a relationship you create with the bike. It really doesn't matter what bike you end up on, to be cliche, it's the journey that counts. Thanks!
The quality and effort to create this video are outstanding. Fantastic, top-tier, transcendental content as always. Keep up the awesome work!!
Love the video. Thanks for the knowledge and facts. Keep it going!
Really diggin the depth of this vid, great work!
This new series of videos is great keep up the good work
Really amazing video! New favorite!
I love this video. A very informative and insightful video about motorcycles
I love the format!! Keep going! I can’t wait to hear more
this goddamn video gave me chills and dugged out of my subconscious what i feel about my bikes. thanks bro.
very thought inspiring video.
Fantastic video man. Well. Spoken and thoughtful.
Loved this vid
0-100 very fast with these new vids clammy... that's some dank content man. Gonna have to send you some shtuff
Yammie, I really appreciate you making this high quality content!
I always enjoy thoughtful content, I'm not saying I don't enjoy meme laden content, but I do enjoy this.
Thanks!
Keep producing this format!
