it's those little attentions to detail that really make all the difference
i'm always amazed at just how good the finished product looks
Yes, detail is the key in the end
TY
@@OdellCompleteConcrete Yes finishing is 10% of the job, but the most visible one, and you and your crew definitely do a great job on the finishing. Even better job on the non visible side as well, to make sure that your work will still look great in 20 years, when they call you to come fix the other stuff that has fallen to pieces.
I watch from Gibson guitar, new guitar reviews, rat entrapment, how to tune a piano, Tequila making videos... then this channel. One of the best on UA-cam!

Very Impressive finishing work. Nice to see the pride that is taken in your work. The cleanup was great as well. You have a new subscriber here. All the best, Mel from Ontario Canada.

Wish to see more close up shots working the concrete . Love watching your channel.
Me too

I wish more contractors made videos like this. What better way to get more clients than demonstrating your great work.
By far the best mud contractors on earth. I wish I had used them a few years ago.

Dig your videos! I'm 76 retired concrete contractor in CA. You're the man!
TY
David I just enjoy your calm pleasant demeanor. I love skid steers and find so much satisfaction watching you run a skid steer with such skill and precision. The care and detail in the job also is impressive. I had an occasion to have concrete poured down in Alabama in our yard joining to the newer existing (newer existing that was screwed up by the prior contractor). I told the new guys to dig out create little concrete pilings of sort along the edge to shore up the existing once they made their new pour.. I was so tickled to see you use a similar process. I have learned so much from you in the last year that I wish I had known a year ago. My first (of 3 total) concrete contractor left 5 or 6 jobs along with ours holding the bag with terrible work, liquidated and sold all his equipment. He left town and basically left us all to figure out how to fix all the problems, concrete running uphill when the house to street has a downhill slope. Wow wish you did concrete in Alabama
Thats a tough spot to be in.

every time I do a home owner concrete job I watch a dozen of our videos and I never come close lol. you guys are clearly worth the cost and wish you were in my area!
Beautiful job. Love that you ground the radius on the old concrete.
TY
You’re great at explaining everything with good specifics and details we may not know to ask about. Keep it up, and thank you!
Thank you! Will do!
Wow! What a crew. Turned out beautiful, once more!
I love watching these Odell videos to get ideas, especially concerning finish work options. Here in PA we get a lot of freeze and thaw, and random wet months... so I basically have to go wayyy deeper here for just about everything. Nevertheless, great video, keep em coming!
Brutal concreteing conditions
I love watching good concrete finishing, very satisfying.
ty
Really Nice broom finish! Thanks! Learning more as I watch your videos.
Awesome, thank you!
The Odell team does great work
imagine the first neighbor wanted to look a lil unique, hence him expanding the driveway, just for the neighbor to like the idea and ask for the same thing 🤣jkjk much love! amazing and very satisfying video to watch
Great

4/29/22..another great video David, love yur photo production techniques: voice over, then a quick before/after look, then the fast forward of details with your commentary in a relaxed conversational manner while providing selected focus on ...new boots, new tilt buggy, ride on vermeer mini skidd with bucket/point cc breaker etc, trowel finishing, broom finishing then psi wash finishing...wow! Whole Lotta work going on with cc jobs! Thx for filming all this & utilizing the voice over & FF camera techniques! Another great video David! Show us more!👍👍👍👍😊🍺😋
Sure, I'm glad you liked it.
More good stuff on its way
I'm watching from all the way across the world and I want to congratulate all the men who worked on that, I admire people who pay respect to their ''art/science'' and try to do it well. Very enjoyable watch, good job done. 👍
Well said
TY
Good job matching the existing work. You've got me wanting to widen my driveway now. 🙂
Go for it!
TY
Nice work. I liked the amount of attention you put in to matching up the split lines with the original driveways. Neat.👍
Thanks
Beautiful work as usual. I have a parking area in my yard that I would like to extend. The pad that is currently there has rounded edges so I’m not sure if I should cut those straight first then pour beside. I’m located in Santa Clarita CA if you guys work this area maybe we can set something up. Thanks again for sharing the videos.
Tyler
Another great video... Thank you for sharing
Very nice work as always. I feel like I learn a little something every time I watch your videos.
Glad to hear it!
thing of beauty. love your humble narration.

Nice job, man. The experience of your crew really shines.
I concur

You do quality work!!!! I’m out in the Palm Springs, CA area. Wished I would’ve had you do my patio
Maybe one day!

that was a nice little job.. and you picked up a bonus next door...
They will enjoy that extra space you gave them... it will make their life better

Great workmanship looks great 👍
Good points! Very professional video, do they use Georgia buggys in cali?
I have used those, but that was about 25 years ago on a regular basis.
How cool is that, the neighbor wanting to expand his driveway too. Cool video, thanks
yes it was
TY
Amazing job as always
Well done concrete work is like a work of art. Nicely done. Looks awesome.

Awesome video 🤙🏽 tuning in from Mexico 🇲🇽

Awesome stuff those cuts look clean! Remember, measure twice, pour once.
True
Really nice work, especially in the finishing!
Thanks a lot!
You’re correct it is a beautiful concrete job
TY
excellent concrete work and finished
TY
Another great video. Have you ever done a (not sure what you call it) a walkway (not really a walkway) around a house foundation? So instead of putting bark mulch or stone as a border around the foundation you would just pour concrete. I've seen houses with it but dont know what the term is. I'd like to do that to my house someday and wonder how difficult it would be to do myself. It seems I would need quite a bit of concrete.
Great work
I wonder if either one of those two owners, comes out every morning, looks at the new beautiful concrete, and thinks ”man I should’ve told Dave to do the whole driveway”
Looks much better than before!
TY
You make me wanna do concrete🤙🏼🤙🏼 it looks fun
Those are my favorite boot now bc you can work and hike in them.
Never Unimpressed,,Nice Work!
TY
Very nice! Your videos are always good
Thank you very much!
Excelente trabajo 💯 👌🏻 👊
ty
Do you try to get the rebar in the middle of the concrete or just leave it at the bottom?
You guys sure do a great job! Very professional! Don't know if you come out to the Inland Empire area or not
I wish
Nice clean job 👌 👍
Thanks 👍
David you're phenomenal and I pray that you are raised to be another great Company 👍 Your ever on east coast. . Can u sign a slab of concrete for me. I appreciate you
nice work!
Thank you! Cheers!
Odell, amazing job as usual
ty
Ditto!
Have you ever considered using aluminium screeds? We use them in Aus and there's way less work on the bull float needed, plus you don't get little holes everywhere in the surface. Makes for more efficient laying.
Yes I have a couple I normally use
Did you extend the rebar under the existing concrete holes to have more support?
Very nice job very good from Fiji lsland
Been waiting for something like this. Feel it's a small project I can take on.
Yes, one side at a time
They make it look easy...its a ton of work.
@@mongosaqqara You just have to look how many man hrs went in prep, pour and finishing.
After having 4 concrete projects around the house with 4 different contractors IMO that concrete that looks good is not a DIY job at least not solo, This is coming from a DIY guy. The clock is ticking after you mix the first batch, and the finishing skills isn’t something you pick up after a few square feet. Even some highly rated pros with solid 5 stars on Yelp had sloppy broom finishes, I only know that because the other contractors left a great finish.
Don’t laugh but I like watching and your voice is so calming lol.
TY
nice tomahawk buggy Dave!! no problems with it using wheels instead of belts?
Hey David, great job, appreciate it. Have one question about the side of the house slab. Is there a reason that you don't need an expansion joint against the house. I'm in Florida, lots of rain and they said you must put one there. Appreciate it in advance.
Thats seems counterproductive. Now you've created a gap along the house where the water can run in.
I was saying to myself throughout the video if he doesn’t pressure wash those tire marks when he’s done I would not hire him!! Nice work!!
Thats the complete in Odell Concrete
@@OdellCompleteConcrete That is a fact. David you leave it like you found it except MUCH BETTER! Wish my contractor had understood that concept a little better !??!!
looks nice!!
ty
@@OdellCompleteConcrete give credit where credit is due!!
i'm in the trades but i find these videos fascinating and i live to guess which city that you're in. i'm guessing lakewood on this one.
Huntington Beach
That new wheel barrel is cool
I'm really liking it
I've probably watched all your videos. Man, you do nice videos and work. I'm not easily impressed (I've never touched a float) but I'm a serious DIY old fart. I know quality work and have watched enough concrete videos to know your Top Quality and I would consider myself very lucky if you ever did concrete work for me.
TY
Maybe one day I'll have the honor
anytime I poured against older concrete I drilled the rods from the new pour into the old slab figuring they would not move separately up and down cause I saw many times where sidewalks were poured against concrete curbs and the sidewalks settled down 4-6 inches from the top of the curb. but that was in NY where it gets cold
That works
Well done.
ty
Good job
hello Mr Odell, if i put down concrete without watering the soil/dirt a day before, would that cause an issue?
Good job as usual.
I appreciate that
@@OdellCompleteConcrete I always look forward to your next video.
Killer job as always. What do you usually pay a finisher on pour day? 🤔 I'm pouring something similar soon and will probably need another to help us out

@@OdellCompleteConcrete thanks so much 🙌🙏👍
Nice work fam

Jr is doing some work. I see it.
That poor rose bush! Nice job as always!

Where do you get the long arrow Groovers? Is there a website
how do you like the Makita rebar gun? ive been looking to get one but theres not much info online.
They are great, once you get one, you'll never go back
Seems like for the most part you've completely switched to the fiberglass rebar, I like it.
Awesome job! Is there a specific kind of concrete mix I need for sidewalk and drive? What do I say when I order?
3000 psi no fly ash
Awesome work as always. So you're using Pinkbar Fiberglas now, was there a reason you never went for the basalt product, was it too expensive?
Never checked in to that
Could you do a bit of a close up on that drill you use to tie the pink bar together, in the time-lapse it seems so fast, I cant really make out how he is doing it.
Question, on the full side driveway pour what's a rough estimate on job like that so I can budget ,save for it . Thxs love your jobs new sub here

Good day. I have a question if I may. You speak about the Owens 3/8 Corning pink bar vs steel bar; is that something that can be used in every area US such as cold climates like Chicago OR is limited to place based on climate? I'm trying to learn all I can- so, if I find someone in my area I'll have some idea of how to look at what they do and why. AND, if I give suggestions or ideas on things I've learned, I can ask if they offer other products. Sometimes people just don't do things new even if it might be better. Anyway, thanks for sharing your product and your work. I sure wish you were in Chicago. I found my answer - I went the company website so I'm finding my answer. Thank you again for sharing your process with so much information. It really helps for those who need to find people who do your line of work. Take care and continued success to you.
That's great.

One more quick question if you would. I'm planning on building a concrete block/stucco gate support in the backyard. One side will be next to the side wall of a block/stucco house. should there be a gap between the standing block or better to tie it to the house. I've seen it both ways. Thanks in advance if you could throw in some pointers on that.
Either way will be fine, but I like the gap
@@OdellCompleteConcrete Ok, thanks for getting back to me appreciate it.
Which boot is it on Ariat's website? I really like the style with the orange part in front and would like to pick up a pair.
They are call 9" rebar
Could you do anything about the color difference between old and new? Say stain all with one single color?
SWEET 👍
Thanks again!
Cool vids, vert interesting
TY
Are city permits required for driveway widening or sidewalks? Nice job!
No
TY
Do you have a link to those Ariat boots?
Even with the smaller jobs like you’re doing do you have to get separate permits for each address
NO permit needed
@@OdellCompleteConcrete that's shocking!
Nice he comes back the second day for additional cleanup
I concur
TY
I have an issue with work pants, what brand do you guys use? I'm hard on everything I have, clothes are no different than equipment or my work truck. Just keep having issues with work pants.
Thank you and keep up the amazing work.
Ariat, Milwaukee,
Nice work. Are you guys based here in Orange County California?
Yes we are
We just had concrete poured and they didn’t put an inch of gravel under it. Our soil is rocky clay. Another concrete co. just told me that’s bad. What are your thoughts on when to put an inch of gravel before pouring 4 inches of concrete?
better 5"s of concrete then 4"s of concrete with 1" of rock under it
Do you need expansion board between the concrete and the 🏠?
no
Nice work! Were the customers uninterested in color matching with the existing slabs?
It should cure out about the same color in a few months
I saw a style where they Shaved/sanded ground rough then added a thin layer and groove textured it
Couldn’t that peel?
