  • In this video I am taking you step-by-step through my process in creating a loose oil painting of a classic floral teacup (Royal Albert).
The focus lies on not getting lost in details, but painting just enough to give the viewer the impression of looking at a floral cup.
❓If you have any questions or requests, I'd love to read about it in the comments. Please know that my materials are mentioned at the bottom of this text.

🖼️The surface I’m painting on is a small MDF panel by the brand “Muspaneel”. They are very smooth, so I always add a layer of gesso on it with. This creates some extra “tooth” and a lovely texture! After that, I put a thin layer/wash of burnt sienna acrylic paint, just to get the white off.
👨‍🎨The paint I use is a special oil paint (Cobra, from Royal Talens) which you can thin by using water instead of spirits. Other than that, it's the same as regular oil paint.
🖌️ For brushes I use the cobra brand brushes, and for smaller sizes I use Mus brushes.
🎨 On the palette for this painting:
    - titanium white
    - permanent yellow
    - yellow ochre
    - carmine red
    - ultramarine blue
    - burnt sienna

Thank you very much for this tutorial and I love that you can see the palette and how you mix it, for the different shades, and that you can see the entire process without cuts, as a beginner I appreciate it since it helps me improve, the Most of the videos I have seen are very fast but your tutorials are the best, thank you very much.

First let me say I am really enjoying this . The colour you are creating from a small palette is incredible. My question is regarding your water base oils. Is the drying time the same as regular oils or do they dry like acrylics?

Thanks and glad you like it! Drying time is roughly the same as with regular oils 😊
