Lmao my kids think im the corniest lol. Dad jokes must be paced and delivered expertly these days it seems 🤷♂️ which makes it more amusing to deliver them badly 😅 Thanks for watching, I think about kiptopeke often and want to go back!
@@paddleandhook haha right on. I don't have near the patients you do. I try, but I'm more the serious dad, then the fun one..... That being said, I do got a hell of a dad joke for ya. So, did you know diarrhea is hereditary?.........ya, it runs in your jeans. Hahaha god bless you and yours brother.
@@dalepasswaters4898 i want to go back and catch some fiddlers. No tackle shops in the area had any decent bait this trip. Only crap stuff. Next trip is coming soon, i plan to catch bait ahead of time. Hopefully fiddlers or box crab 🤞🏼 and live fleas. Do you fish out there often?
You got slimed!!! Congrats on the new boat, it looks awesome! What a cool place to explore. I need to save myself a couple of hours the next time we plan to go to the Outer Banks and explore around this location instead! Hope that guy you ran into at the start is okay, that definitely doesn't sound like he had a very good day.
Yes you should definitely stop by since it is likely on your way when you drive down. I plan to head to kiptopeke and camp this spring then head out in search of some speckled trout and tautog or sheepshead around the bridge piling. The area nearby known as wachapreague is famous for good flounder fishing.
Use to fish there in the mid 60's. There is a little canal you can enter from the cement ships toward the bridge. It's was only 30 feet or so wide. We'd bottom bounce while drifting in the canal and catch flounder. So big they barely fit into a cooler. But that was then, now who knows !...
Ive heard about a couple of flounder spots nearby, and would love to try them out. I may have a chance soon. There have been some big flounder caught this year all over! I would love to travel back and time and fish during the 60’s. The days of big sea trout 😍…
We kept a couple of croaker, but didn’t try the eel. I have had eel in sushi, which happened to be an interesting texture and saltiness. I didn’t exactly know how to prepare eel so we released it 🤷♂️
Haha i feel bad the jon boat has the back half done but i havent worked on the frame for the front casting deck since getting the carolina skiff. I love the jon boat mods i have and they work well so ive just used it as-is all summer 🤷♂️ You should be in the fall fishing pattern now where you live i would imagine!
For sure. Theres another place im looking forward to going some day that has more boats, but theyre older and less visible except at low tide these days. Its very fishable by kayak, i have done it that way before
Love the new boat. Great mutispecies video to break it in. That eel was epic. Hope to see you catch a cobia. Did you know you can tie triple surgeons knot for dropper loops? Much quicker. I still do it like you do for drop shots. 👍
Thanks for the kind words sir! Next time we fish the Chesapeake during the summer I will surely have one rod rigged up and ready for cobia. Good to know about the triple surgeons knot! I have never fished the drop shot rig but always intend to 🤷♂️ it looks super effective
I dont mind the toadfish until they eat whole live eels or something when im striper fishing. That can get expensive really quickly! Whats your favorite saltwater fish to eat?
@@paddleandhook they actually taste like scallops, I skin them like a catfish and debone them. Use a cookie cutter for shape and fry them up in butter and you’ll never know the difference. Use the leftovers for a seafood bisque by thinly slicing them. Oh and if it’s under three foot in length don’t waste your time.
Ive been wanting to try for sheepshead for a while now, its a bucket list fish for me! Do you guys anchor near a piling and drop down, or is it only doable with trolling motor/spotlock?
@@paddleandhook I use a kayak but I can imagine you can tie to the pilings with your boat or have spotlock. See this video. ua-cam.com/video/mzQndiYykvI/v-deo.html At the pilings they are typically 10-15 feet down which is mid column and you have to keep the bait next to the piling. The openning hull of the ghost ship they are on the bottom so you can use a bottom rig for that.

Caught some nice croaker. Use fiddler crabs on the ships

Good new fishing videos
Thank you 🙏🏻
those toadfish are a nuisance. if those seabass were bigger, you would have had a lot better dinner food. croakers are good though.

@@paddleandhook i don't do saltwater fishing. But i am fan of seabass and strippers (cooked) and tuna and salmon (raw)
I keep a large dish towel on board specifically for eels. Their slime is so difficult to clean up, and nigh impossible if it dries on your boat.
Good call on the towel! Those suckers are slimy as heck. Im told they’re good to eat, but i always release them

@@theyetirulrs thanks! thats awesome eel advice, will definitely keep that size and cooking option in mind
There are plenty of giant sheepshead down at the open hull and those small piling. You need fiddler crabs because using shrimp will lure bass only.
