  • This was a lovely hike up Mt. Tecumseh at the start of Presidents' Day Weekend. It snowed a couple inches over the course of the hike. The snow began falling at the tail end of my four hour drive up and finishing about ten minutes after that final shot in the video. Really couldn't have timed it better.
    Wish I could say the same for my legs, which felt worn out early on - not a great way to begin a weekend that would include a backpacking trip in the Sandwich Wilderness. Stay tuned for that video next!

      Yeah, the trail was well packed so going downhill was a faster affair. Of course, the guy who brought up skis had the best idea - he got down in no time!

    The snow does look pretty! We're in for some more come Friday...but really not looking forward to it. We had heavy rain yesterday and last night so things are looking pretty bare right now. I hope after all that, that you did indeed bring your snowshoes! lol Hey, where did the skies come from and the yellow jacket at 5:22 ?! What is this trickery!! Is the final shot of the ski patrol and first aid a harbinger of things to come? Sure hope not! Take good care now...Bruce and Otis

    • @RhodySeth
      @RhodySeth  2 роки тому +1

      Haha, right after I said that I had the peak to myself, that hiker showed up. After summiting he took a side trail to the top of the ski mountain and took the quick way down! I liked the shot so much I made it the thumbnail. And my new GoPro has great slowmo at 4k so I couldn't help throwing in a few shots when I was walking past the ski patrol.

    • @RhodySeth

      Round 5 overall. The way I keep track may be confusing to everyone else - but this was the fifth time I've hiked Tecumseh and was the 4th peak that I've hiked five times.

      I'd guess the pack was about 20 pounds. I removed some of my backpacking gear but shoved some other clothes in just to bulk up the pack. You are right about the skier - he took a side trail to the slopes and got to take the easy way down.

    Nice man. I will keep my eyes open for the next one! Wanted to head back up there for a trail vs a basic camp like I did last time but with all the melting I have heard about, I figured they were a mess

    • @RhodySeth

      The Tecumseh trail ended up being fine but we encountered some choppy naught-oft used trails the next couple days which proved to be a pain in the ass. Seems like each of the 4000 footers has one primary trail that people were using for winter. The rest were much less travelled.

      No it was packed on my day as well. I ended up parking on the far end of the lot and all those cars happened to leave before I came down. I didn't start until 12:30 so it was late when I finished.

    Too bad the summit view was obscured by the snow. Did you pass Gary @Conncticut Backcountry on the mountain? Snowshoes looked good on the pack. LOL

    • @RhodySeth
      @RhodySeth  2 роки тому

      Yeah no views until the way down - those shots from the ski slope view point were actually taken on the way down. It seemed like the storm was over and then it dumped harder than ever just as I reached the parking lot. No sign of Gary - but I've seen so many Tecumseh videos lately - it's a right of passage for the northeast UA-camr, haha.

    God I hope you brought your snowshoes on the next hike. I saw the route and.... I find I'm a stronger higher on day 2 of consecutive hiking days. Gotta give the body a kick in the ass and get it back to work. Did it work that way for you?

    • @RhodySeth
      @RhodySeth  2 роки тому

      I'm not sure. With the heavier pack and deeper snow we were pretty beat after climbing Passaconaway.
