one pentatonix rule that i’ve always loved is that they never record an arrangement that they can’t preform live. they have never broken that rule in my eyes, but you don’t have to take my word for it. check out literally any of their live performances and you won’t be disappointed.
Case in point, mind blowing? Live at Singapore, Aha. This is the later incarnation. Matt and Scott (and sometimes beat boxer perhaps- tenor Kevin) are interchangeable as bases. Kirstin is mezzo soprano and Mitch is counter tenor and they have at least a five octave range, and some like Mitch, wider. I watch the reaction videos randomly, so it's hard to know what they know or don't know (and I'm a Pentaholic from WAY. BACK and still learning stuffs). So comment or don't it's all good (though if you comment, you help their subscriptions, so as I say, IT'S ALL GOOD).
This is 100% their voices. the only videos of them that isn't purely their voices, will feature the beatboxer playing cello - and you'll see it in the video. So if you don't see an instrument in the video it''s just their voices :) As for their tour: they manged to do the US, Asia and Australia dates. They had to postpone the Europe ones though - they're happening in 2021. There are many songs to recommend - they have about 9 years of material for you to catch up on. But I'm going to recommend you their newest release: "Happy Now". It was just released last week, and it's an original track. (and before you ask - yes, that one is also just their voices) :)
I mean, they just said they had a whole list of comments telling them that on the last video, why regurgitate it? Pentaholics as a whole need to stop being so overwhelming.
@@ricmotta2495 I've seen them perform this live, and he can do the effect pretty similarly without the megaphone - I think it was mostly for the visual tbh.
No electronics. Kevin (far right) is the beat boxer who does 95% of their beats. Dude is phenomenal! Very gifted individual you will find if you continue on your Pentatonix journey and we hope you guys will. Enjoyed it! They are too good to be true❣️ Bohemian Rhapsody by them will blow your mind. All beats by Kevin and guitar by Mitch.
The guy with the white jacket is their bass Matt. But the base sounds you hear during his solo was from Scott, the first guy who sang. He can go pretty low too. He is usually the baritone! Again! No electronics all voices. And occasional stomping!
Well Scott i would say is a tenor but has a very flexible register, like he can do bass fairly well but I would say he’s leaning on the tenor side more than baritone
Bohemian Rhapsody is the only song of theirs that I know that they use something other than their voices, and even then underneath it all it still is 95% all vocal performance. You will know when you hear/see it.
@@saravaneerde6164 Nope. It's all their voices and the beat box. They either announce it or show the instrument (like Matt's cello) during the performance. Between Matt and Avi in Bohemian Rhapsody, it's absolutely unbelievable, but it's all them.
Shilohaura: without spoilers for anyone, I was talking about what Mitch uses in that one song for the guitar riffs. Which is still his voice, just a slight twist to what they normally do.
A great song to really see just how good they are with just their voices is their cover of "Gold"... it's recorded in a live setting, not a video synced to a studio audio, and I recommend that you first listen to the original version by Kiiara, which does use heavy electronic manipulation, sampling, and looping, and you will much better appreciate just how much they can do with just their own voices.
You should check out some of their evolution videos. They are done as single takes so when they mess up, they start it all over again. There’s no cut and paste in those. Kevin (KO) is the beatboxer. He is a musical genius, he plays the cello, saxophone, piano, beatboxes, sings tenor, and works with drum pads and a looper on is individual stuff. You should check out his individual work, particularly Down. He was also Yale pre-med and speaks fluent Mandarin. Scott is a baritone but also has a nice bass voice. He will take over bass notes when the bassist is singing. He is usually the lead in most of their music. Kirstie is a mezzo soprano and can sing up to the whistle register. She performed on broadway in Kinky Boots. Mitch is a tenor/counter tenor and can hit crazy high notes. He is also a chameleon and changes his looks a lot over the years. Matt is the bass with a beautiful range. Their former bass is Avi (Ah-Vee) who is a classically trained bass. He was an original member but left the group for personal reasons back in 2017. He is still close with the group and helped choose Matt as his replacement. Also, when people say they have some music that isn’t all voice, they are referring to Kevin’s cello, their collaborations with Lindsey Sterling and her violin, or a couple live performances they did (like the Star Wars tribute or the Wicked special) where they were accompanied by a band. Kevin uses a drum pad and looper when he does his solo covers but otherwise, it’s all vocal. They don’t use sound effects or anything like that. Just crazy talent and creativity.
PTX are crazy talented. Mitch - mullet is a counter tenor very rare Scott - tall guy- is baritone but he has an amazing range. He sings bass when Matt (in this video) or Avi (left in 2017) sing lead. Kirstie - mezzo soprano Matt - bass. He has a very rich sounding voice. Old videos Avi is a true basso profundo. He blows speakers with his bass. Mitch changes his appearance a LOT. Mitch, Kirstie and Scott have been friends since they were kids.
Kevin's primary role if you will, is beatboxing in sound effects. But he also plays the cello beautifully and just like the rest of the group he has an amazing voice and range. I wish we would hear him sing solo more often. It would blow your mind.
Ok, I am sure this has already been explained ad nauseum but all of their sounds are 100% produced by them. Yes, studio produced work will always be tweaked but they never do anything they can't reproduce when performing live. The stomping that Kevin was doing, he uses a stomp pad on occasion which amplifies the sound of the stomp but is not a canned beat. Good recovery gentleman...Pentaholics like myself are amongst the most passionate, loyal and kind community you will ever come across on the interwebs. I look forward to seeing more of your Pentatonix reactions! 😁
Well said! Yes, there’s minimal effects - no more than any singers would use (reverb, etc) and it’s EXTREMELY well mixed. And yes, Kevin uses a stomp pad when they perform live so it will be picked up. But no auto tune, and nothing they can’t reproduce live! (Pretty much everything you just said I just realized, haha!) but it’s TRUE!!! Edit: the point I initially wanted to make is that YES, you can’t hear them all sing in a room together and get the exact same mixing and sound, but that’s true of all recorded music, and it’s still incredible man!
Welcome back to PTX. Very interesting comments and I’m grateful that you decided to do another PTX. I hope you will do more. I’m one of the people who wrote “Jamaican Chicken” in the comments and I had a good laugh when you’d forgotten about it. Looking forward to your next one.
I believe that Kevin (the beatboxer) uses a stomp pad within the studio for max effect and obviously the sounds are amplified with reverb. But I've seen live performances of this and it sounds exactly the same. And Scott's range is amazing and he does bass when Matt (or in the past Avi) are doing solos. You should check out his cover of I Should Tell Your Momma on You. He does bass and sings and a little percussion for the beat too.
Nope, no electronics just Kevin (the beatboxer) - he has a full drumset in his mouth... Matt (Far left) is the bass Scott (center) is the Baritone, usually sings lead and covers bass when Matt sings lead Mitch (center right) is a counter-tenor and has the highest range. Kirsti is the alto and fills the rest of the middle and is a powerhouse in her own right.
Everything you hear is vocalization from them. At most they will add some echo or delay to the beatboxer to give it the slightly extra oomph!! But besides those two effects nothing is put through a electronic device. The beatboxer does play cello in a few of their songs, but no other instruments are used with the exception of when special guest Lindsey Stirling with her violin joins them. Avi Kaplan their former bass who was in the Daft Punk video, was able to do Mongolian throat singing which allowed him to produce two notes at the same time which gave them a very electronic sound, but no effect added, just his voice. Scott is the lead baritone who will take over the bass part when Matt(far left) their bass takes lead, Mitch is the high tenor, Kirstie is the mezzo soprano, and the beatboxer/vocal percussionist/tenor/cello player is Kevin, better known as K.O. . Hope this helps you both out a little bit more. Also they did win a television signing contest called The Sing Off which was a all a'capella show where it is purely vocals no instrument and no electronic effects were allowed.
The chicken song refers to some videos they put out with snippets of them just goofing off. Sometimes they do on the spot songs based on fan suggestions, such as sing some harmony to how much wood could a woodchuck Chuck, etc). They were all fooling around and started singing about cooking chicken.
Pentatonix spent a lot of time perfecting adding that electric quality to their voices, it was one of their big things when they were on the show the Sing Off (a cappella competition show) but they are 100% AMAZING
The beatboxer is Kevin Osulola and is so talented! Plays five instruments, sings and beat boxes. He has his own site KO and you really should check him out. Maybe Marion Hill’s Down. I like you guys, but you do have a lot to learn about PTX.
React to their cover of Hallelujah! The official music video and the live version from the Christmas special. The live Star Wars performance at the American music awards, Aha! Live in Singapore Star Vista, Live version of Silent night ,Their cover of Imagine and Bohemian Rhapsody. I’m surprised you haven’t noticed that one of the guys have been replaced. They replaced their Bass singer Avi, with Matt.
The thirty percent or a portion of it is Kevin the beatboxer sometimes plays his cello (he came 2nd in Yo Yo Ma’s International cello competition as a teenager) and he is classically trained and played Carnegie Hall as a teenager (where he also played saxophone). He also plays piano though not with the group
I was a teenager when Simon and Garfunkel released this song and I have heard soooo many covers of it since then and this one is by far the best I've ever heard! Pentatonix music is so addicting when you really listen to everything they do with a song. So many music reactors now days are so focused on trying to pick out if a singer used autotune or whatever that they forget to listen to the music itself. Usually the artist that relies on "aides" in their singing will be exposed if they ever do live concerts. Pentatonix live sounds just about as good as they do in their videos taking into account of course the venue they perform in. Football stadiums will always sound a lot different than a concert hall. Thank you for your reaction and hopefully you will enjoy this groups music if you choose to continue reacting to them. New sub here.
When December rolls around, the only Christmas music played in my house is Pentatonix and Mariah Carey. Check out their cover of "If Ever Fall in Love - Pentatonix ft Jason Derulo".
PTX likes to be known as a vocal band. There was a discussion at the end of the last video as to whether we made it through the whole thing Jamaican or chicken if we want to see more!
Yes Pentaholics (that’s what their fans are called) are very passionate. Sometimes to a fault. But I have seen them live and and there are no instruments. Kevin the beatboxer sounds like he swallowed a drum set. Kevin is also a phenomenal cello player. He plays it in a few videos and you can see him cellobox, which is where he is beatboxing while playing the cello!!! He’s amazing! I can’t wait until you do more Pentatonix!
I love this cover too!! I believe Pentatonix makes most of their money touring. They have been touring non‐stop since 2013 (yes, I've been to every tour and have seen all these songs performed live). So, they are a live act!! You guys have to check them out live. You should watch their official video of Hallelujah and then right after watch the live version from their Christmas special. OR, you're probably not fans of Ariana Grande, but their Evolution of Ariana is AMAZING, and recorded live. All their Evolution videos are amazing, but I personally think the Ariana Grande is the most complex arrangement.
Of course in their videos like this, they record the audio in a studio and then it is edited together with the visual recording. But the sounds are all just them.
I’m so glad your doing more PTX!! . Kevin O, the beatboxer, is a musical messiah! He sings, beatboxes and plays multiple instruments. I’m so looking forward to you doing more. Ps. Stuff the haters, they’re just jealous because they’re not sitting next to you on your couch pumping out great reactions.
I think their Bohemian Rhapsody will blow your mind - and Say Something is a good example of one of their tracks with an instrument (Kevin plays cello while he beatboxes because, Kevin things). And I was SO lucky to see them live this year here in Australia, *just* pre Rona. 2020’s last gift, lol
I've been to two of their concerts; in 2016 Avi was still the bass and in 2018 and Matt was bass. They sound absolutely AMAZING in concert. I also got to meet them with the VIP meet & greet and can say that they are the sweetest people too. There are no instruments on the stage until Kevin plays his cello.
The tall blond guy is Scott (baritone), smaller guy with the mullet (this time.. he always looks different) is Mitch, the 3rd guy is Matt (bass) and is the only member change from Avi in 2017, the girl is Kirstin, and the beatboxer is Kevin who also is multi-talented.
Remember, they do all of these songs LIVE on stage as well. So when they arrange a song they make sure it can be performed with only the 5 of them. In the studio recordings you will catch them adding the occasional accent track that obviously gets left out on stage, but this one is pretty much 100% all them with no electronics and no accent tracks.
They are 100 % the Real Deal. If you ever get the chance to see them in concert it is totally worth the price. Kevin & Matt do all the Beatboxing & Sounds they are the best. Scott who is the lead can sing full scales & Mitch & Kirsten are awesome. Scott, Mitch & Kirsten have been singing together & best friends since 8th grade choir. They attended ACTS School of the Arts in Arlington, Tx. and have been together ever since. Pentatonix is absolutely the best A Capella group ever!
Thanks for this! Glad you liked it (gotta admit, I DO like the Disturbed version as well, lol) You've got a bunch of great suggestions already, the live or Evolutions would be good next....but Bohemian Rhapsody would also be epic....heck, choose whatever you think you'll like - we'll watch :-)
Great reaction! Some of my other favorites from Pentatonix are Imagine, Bohemian Rhapsody, Can You Feel the Love Tonight, Hallelujah, Love Again, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, and Aha! Live from Singapore. These should keep you busy for a while =)
Matt (white jacket) is the Bass, Kirsten is a Mezzo Soprano, Scott (tall blonde) is a Baritone who switches around from singing lead to harmony and will cover the bass line when Matt sings solo, Mitch (mullet haircut) is a tenor with a crazy range that veers into counter-tenor land and shares harmonies with Kirsten and Scott, Kevin is the beatboxer who is crazy talented and also a tenor voice. He does most of the beats with his mouth but will sometimes add foot stomps, claps, or body slaps. The others will also clap or stomp sometimes as well. No instruments or backing tracks used, just very complex coordination and layering of parts. For example layering the bass part with the beat boxing to create special effects or crossing the voices/trading who’s singing what as they trade the lead solo around.
They use their voices, except in rare circumstances. When they add instruments or effects, they don't hide it.😎 You can always tell. Thanks for sharing.
I had the privilege of seeing them perform this live. I promise you it is all them. I was sitting it the nosebleeds in a hockey stadium and the floor shook with the bass and percussion (Matt and Kevin respectively). Absolutely breathtaking.
They are all amazing, but if you want to hear an amazing version of Kevin's talents (the beatboxer), you should definitely check out his video of him solo. It's under "Down (Marian Hill Cover) Kevin Olusola" and the baritone that started this song off, Scott, also has a side project with Mitch (the gentleman with the mullet in this video) and their group is called SuperFruit...they're amazing
As soon as he said “Makes the hair on your arms stand up,” I grinned from ear to ear because I knew this version would get them. That haunting tone. 😍💜
My girl saw them live she said it was LIFE CHANGING 😭 n they exactly like this live it's crazy...their voices & bodies are their instaments for sureeeee❗❗❗
The 20 - 30% that have instruments are Kevin, the beatboxer, also playing cello or a collaboration with Lindsay Sterling the violinist. All of the beats are created by Kevin sometimes in concert with the bass (PTX has had two basses that were part of their group.)
No electric sounds added. Matt (Bass) and Kevin (Beatboxer/tenor) work as a pair. Kevin will do the drum sounds and Matt will layer it with that sweet continuous bass sound. BTW they actually produced music while in quarantine THAT IS AMAZING!!! I am so happy you both are joining us in the PTX world!!!
During the time Matt, the bass, is singing the main vocals, Scott is over there giving bass vocals which always sound super freakin cool next to Kevins percussion sounds. Also could I recommend you react to one of their newer songs, the cover of Blinding Lights they did. I think it'll blow your mind.
👋😎 Hello guys, just got home. Wow awesome group 😉👍, they covered the song Sound Of Silence by Simon & Garfunkel which is epic amazing they singing and they nailed it. First time to see this group but they are talented when they are singing. 😏👍 Anyway good reaction and take your time guys. Good pm.:) Watching here from 🇵🇭
So many good ones from PTX.... Literally any song you choose will blow your mind... Lol. The only time that they have instruments are when the beat boxer, Kevin, plays his chello and beatboxes (also known as chelloboxing) and when they have a guest artist playing the violin. Their live stuff is absolutely amazing, and worth listening to as well!
Watch the official video of Daft Punk Medoly, then immediately watch the Private Performance of the same song. You will be amazed at just how the two are identical. You will probably have to watch the private more than once, to really believe what your eyes and ears are telling you. The video for the private, was recorded on a cell phone in front of a restroom. So the quality is not the best, but good enough that you can tell everything you hear in the official, you hear in the private performance.
Wow! Can't believe I'm the first comment. They were mostly through their tour and had to cut it short because of quarantine. They've released their EP At Home a few weeks ago recorded separately. Also they've released an original 4 days ago called Happy Now recorded last fall. If you want to see them live you have got to react to their cover of Aha! Live at the Star Vista Singapore. It will blow your mind! 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
I've seen them live 3 times. They are 100% legit. Check out their live take videos like any one of the Evolution videos, sing off performances, silent night, aha Singapore, etc.
First time watching and I've subscribed, purely because of your intro and the realness of your reaction. Thanks, guys. I'm an Aussie and I took my two kids to the PTX concert just gone, and I can tell you they sound the same on stage. I've followed PTX from their 'Sing-off' days. They have grown up & developed as artists. As a bonus, at their meet and greets, they're pretty cool. I hope you enjoy any other PTX songs you listen to. I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos. Cheers guys. PS: Kevin Olusola (K.O) really is that incredible, and in-studio I believe he uses something called a 'stomp board'. If you check out some of their live performances, you will really get to see how incredibly talented these guys are.
I feel like now that you’ve watched a few and gotten a little taste, you should try a few live videos. They’ll help to rid yourselves of any doubts of how much they can possibly be doing with their voices. Here’s a couple recommendations: Evolution of Beyoncé (with Avi, original bass) Evolution of Ariana Grande (with Matt, current bass) Gold They actually have a bunch of Evolution vids, these two are just my favorites. It’s always fun to watch people discover PTX! I’m sorry if some people are being douche nozzles about but, but please know that most of us just can’t wait to see your minds being blown when you know for sure that it is just their vocals. Have fun!!
Y’all should see this cover of Shallow, it blows the lady Gaga and Bradley cooper away. The woman just goes off. Kevin plays the cello and beatboxes as the same time. It’s amazing
Their World Tour finishes the European leg was postponed until 2021. They already did North and South America, Christmas Tour back in the US, East Asia and Australia and New Zealand (Feb 2020). Europe was supposed to happen this spring and summer.
At the end of the last Pentatoniix video you asked people to comment the word Chicken if they made it through the whole video- or you asked which came first
To answer one of your questions! :) In this video you have Matt (white jacket) as bass. Scott (long trench) baritone. Kirstin mezzo soprano. Mitch (black button down) high tenor. Kevin beatboxer/cellist/tenor. The only songs they use things that aren't vocal you will see an instrument in. Typically Kevin's cello beyoncé. Great examples are Shallow and Say Something. If you want an awesome live example of they can do anything from Popspring 2016 or their cover of Kiara's Gold are great places to start. I am sure someone will eventually mention that all members have solo acts outside of Pentatonix that are more mainstream pop music save for Avi who is no longer in the group who does folk type solo music now. All members are amazing in their own right! Hope you guys enjoy!
They have been on at least a couple or more (?) world tours but this last one was put off because of covid. Their last EP - AT HOME released in July was recorded from their individual home studios, and it's quite impressive with their limited resources.. if you like Billie Eilish, you'd like their cover of WHEN THE PARTY'S OVER.. the best on in my opinion which Kevin goes over and beyond in is a Clean Bandit cover, COLOGNE (no video on that one because they recorded that in studio before quarantine)
Liked your reaction guys. I would suggest their live performance Aha Singapore star vista. Or their evolution of Micheal Jackson which they do in one take!!! You’ll be able to clearly see what they do with their voices!!!
No electronics, no instruments. It’s all them Kevin is the beat boxer, he also has a beautiful voice AND plays cello plus another instrument (I forget). Thank you for the share! ♥️
Pentatonix has so many amazing video's! Can't wait to see you react to PTX Hallelujah, even more so whenever it's time for their Christmas Album's lol. I know it's only September but PTX albums are an all year around thing for me
holy shit! I thought I was the only person that could hear Kevin's SHEWWW,Or.wind sound I guess lol. I wait for it everytime lmao. Thank you so much for showing them love because they absolutely fucking deserve it!!
So glad you guys are doing more Pentatonix. Bohemian Rhapsody will blow your mind. And that is completely acapella. And so will Radioactive. In that one Kevin brings out his cello, Beyonce, and Lindsey Stirling joined them on the violin
Left to right on your screen: 1. Matt (Bass, the only member not an "original"), 2. Kirstin (mezzo-soprano), Scott (Baritone), Mitch (Tenor), Kevin (Beatboxer, and Tenor). If Matt (or in the earlier years the Bass was Avi Kaplan) is singing and you hear bass notes at the same time then it is Scott taking that roll. All of them have wicked ranges. Yes, Kevin is making all those percussive noises and such, it is not a machine. If you find yourself asking, "Is that Mitch?" the answer is always, "Yes, it is." Mitch lost some weight over the years and seems to never look the same (and we love him for this). What stays the same with Mitch is that clear tenor voice of his. Just for your f.y.i., have fun being amazed when you see what all these five wonderful humans can do.
Good thing to know in this particular song, far left dude white jacket does bass on every part except his singing solo, and during that the dude in the middle covers the bass for him 👌🏽
If you want to see how good they are live (professionally recorded, instead of some random person with an iPhone), check out "Cracked" live from the Honda Stage at iHeart Radio, or their live performance of "Hallelujah" from their TV special, or their Popspring performances (there is a compilation of all four songs in their set). A lot of the live performances here on UA-cam have crappy audio quality and crowd noises (not to mention dodgy video quality because cell phones don't record as well as actual video recording equipment).
The gentleman on the right is Kevin Olusola. There is a video of him while in high school playing the saxaphone with piano accompaniment on stage at Carnegie Hall. Kevin graduated from Yale with a degree in premed. He also was first chair cello in the Yale orchestra.
8:17 Matt the bass with the white jacket did the low part, he has a very good connection to his high and deep voice, Scott the blond guy did the bass at Matt’s solo
As you face them, the guy in the middle who started out is Scott. He sings upper baritone/low tenor on most of his leads but he can also sing down into the lower baritone/bass range. The guy on the far left in the white jacket is Matt. He is a bass who can sing up into the lower to mid tenor range. In today's acapella world, a lot of the groups have a few guys with extremely wide ranges. Home Free has Tim and Chance who both can sing from low bass up to tenor, Voiceplay has Geoff who can sing from low bass up to tenor... it appears to be a trend. As far as the drum sounds and stuff, the guy on the far right is Kevin and he can do all of those (and does) without any assistance, and though some of what you hear on post-produced pieces may use layering of their voices to give it more depth, they do all of that stuff with their voices. Watch the live video versions of Imagine and Hallelujah and you'll see what I mean. They sound just as good live, but due to it being live and in an auditorium and not a sound studio, the sound isn't as 'crisp' but it's just as blended and tight.
one pentatonix rule that i’ve always loved is that they never record an arrangement that they can’t preform live. they have never broken that rule in my eyes, but you don’t have to take my word for it. check out literally any of their live performances and you won’t be disappointed.

And the live performances are not hard to find.
Only exceptions I’ve seen are a handful of really bad cell phone video from concerts with horrible audio.

well...and the bullhorn altering the voice a bit to make the guitar distortion. Still you point stands.

"guitar by Mitch" XD You troll lol
@anura stone he’s series! Watch their bohemian rhapsody video and you’ll see how Mitch makes that guitar sound :)
@@Nighteyes_14 no I've seen it before, I know what he means. I just think it's funny he credited Mitch as if he was a guitarist not a singer.

Well Scott i would say is a tenor but has a very flexible register, like he can do bass fairly well but I would say he’s leaning on the tenor side more than baritone
He most likely had the largest range and can do bass, baritone and tenor all quite well and then there are the riffs and runs…
React to Bohemian Rhapsody. Imagine. Rather Be. Hallelujah. And their Evolutions. Thanks yall and Enjoy

Enjoy the pentatonix ride fellas. I'm glad not as many jokes on this reaction. Yall were serious. Great Job. Can't wait for more
A great song to really see just how good they are with just their voices is their cover of "Gold"... it's recorded in a live setting, not a video synced to a studio audio, and I recommend that you first listen to the original version by Kiiara, which does use heavy electronic manipulation, sampling, and looping, and you will much better appreciate just how much they can do with just their own voices.
YES! Please do!!!😁
Great recommendation! I remember seeing that one live in concert and STILL being surprised how good it sounded, lol!
This is an excellent recommendation! Yes- please do Pentatonix's Gold cover by Kiiara!
Wow, you've commented on almost every PTX reaction video I've watched!

Mitch - mullet is a counter tenor very rare
Scott - tall guy- is baritone but he has an amazing range. He sings bass when Matt (in this video) or Avi (left in 2017) sing lead.
Kirstie - mezzo soprano
Matt - bass. He has a very rich sounding voice.
Old videos Avi is a true basso profundo. He blows speakers with his bass.
Mitch changes his appearance a LOT.
Mitch, Kirstie and Scott have been friends since they were kids.
Avi also used to sing overtones which you can hear in Daft Punk and some of their Katy Perry Extraterrestrial cover.
You left out Kevin. The amazing beatboxer/percussionist and cellist. Fun fact: He wrote Christmas to me.
Rejoice Kanyongo , how did I miss Kevin??? He is crazy talented!!!!!
Kevin's primary role if you will, is beatboxing in sound effects. But he also plays the cello beautifully and just like the rest of the group he has an amazing voice and range. I wish we would hear him sing solo more often. It would blow your mind.
Mitch is a tenor who sings in high tenor and falsetto sometimes. Philippe Jaroussky is a countertenor.
If you guys like Queen... Please react to Pentatonix's cover of BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY... will blow you away!
Look up Kevin Olusola (he's the beat boxer) "Down" - and be ready to be amazed!
wow hes nigerian too and we kind of have similar names i didnt know that
Ok, I am sure this has already been explained ad nauseum but all of their sounds are 100% produced by them.
That's all their voices. It's mindblowing, and you are never not impressed by it! Years of listening to them and I'm still shook
Nope, no electronics just Kevin (the beatboxer) - he has a full drumset in his mouth...
Matt (Far left) is the bass
Scott (center) is the Baritone, usually sings lead and covers bass when Matt sings lead
Mitch (center right) is a counter-tenor and has the highest range.
Kirsti is the alto and fills the rest of the middle and is a powerhouse in her own right.
I dont want to be that guy, but Kirstie is a Mezzo Soprano.
And Kirstins range is still higher than Mitchs range, in ptxs harmonies, Kirstie usually does the higher harmonies.
Nothing but their voices. Kevin, their beatboxer is amazing. Every member has their own unique talents.
I love how Pentatonix sang this song as though it were Gospel. It very much hammers home the prophetic nature of the lyrics.
Draft Punk Medley, Hallelujah, Imagine and Bohemian Rhapsody are my fav. covers of Pentatonix. hope you guys react to all of that video
100% human voice. No electronics other than adding echoes, and the like. That's what makes them so incredibly and phenomenally unique and excellent!
The only instrument they use is a cello. The beat boxing guy plays the cello and bear boxes at the same time.
Their cover of Shallow is an example
The thirty percent or a portion of it is Kevin the beatboxer sometimes plays his cello (he came 2nd in Yo Yo Ma’s International cello competition as a teenager) and he is classically trained and played Carnegie Hall as a teenager (where he also played saxophone). He also plays piano though not with the group
Now y'all got to watch them Live these Guys are the Real Thing
This song is 100% all their voices and body sounds. No instruments or electronics. PURE PENTATONIX
Men, they're doing it all and as you watch and listen. Just keep listening and watching. They are amazing on every level.
When December rolls around, the only Christmas music played in my house is Pentatonix and Mariah Carey. Check out their cover of "If Ever Fall in Love - Pentatonix ft Jason Derulo".
Pentatonix and Lindsey Stirling for me :D
Scott, the tall blond in the middle, has such a great range that he can do the bass harmonies when the usual bass has a lead.
Although is safer now that Avi has gone back to more studio work, Avi has broken bass woofers before.
Pentatonix “bohemian rhapsody” ❤️❤️❤️
That would be the greatest compliment for an acapella group for first time listeners to think they're hearing instruments in the performance
Pentatonix is absolutely the best
A Capella group ever!
Thanks for this! Glad you liked it (gotta admit, I DO like the Disturbed version as well, lol)
You've got a bunch of great suggestions already, the live or Evolutions would be good next....but Bohemian Rhapsody would also be epic....heck, choose whatever you think you'll like - we'll watch :-)
They are totally awesome!! Bohemian Rhapsody needs to be the next reaction, it will blow your mind!
Their Aha in Singapore video really shows their ability. Its a video of them preforming at a concert. And its fan filmed on a cell phone.
All them, Kevin on the end in absolutely amazing. Saw them live last year on their world tour. Luckily they got it in before COVID.
🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
And I'm 2nd, lol
I've seen them live 3 times. They are 100% legit. Check out their live take videos like any one of the Evolution videos, sing off performances, silent night, aha Singapore, etc.
The one on the right is the beat with his hands, feet, mouth. Absolutely awesome.
Another great reaction. Hallelujah, Imagine and Bohemian Rhapsody are some of my favs. Or Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. Different and amazing.
Can you guys react to either Hallelujah by Pentatonix or Bohemian Rhapsody by Pentatonix pls🙏🙏🙏
Ohhh, I hope you do more PTX!! They're so great! Loved your reaction
Wow, awesome. Thank you very much! We really appreciate ya =]
You have to check out their Bohemian Rhapsody. It has the original bass Avi Kaplan, after he left Matt took his place.
I feel like now that you’ve watched a few and gotten a little taste, you should try a few live videos. They’ll help to rid yourselves of any doubts of how much they can possibly be doing with their voices. Here’s a couple recommendations:
Evolution of Beyoncé (with Avi, original bass)
Evolution of Ariana Grande (with Matt, current bass)
Gold
They actually have a bunch of Evolution vids, these two are just my favorites. It’s always fun to watch people discover PTX! I’m sorry if some people are being douche nozzles about but, but please know that most of us just can’t wait to see your minds being blown when you know for sure that it is just their vocals. Have fun!!
They are making all of the sounds. If you notice they record in places with amazing acoustics, here, caves, deserts
Y’all should see this cover of Shallow, it blows the lady Gaga and Bradley cooper away. The woman just goes off. Kevin plays the cello and beatboxes as the same time. It’s amazing
Mitch (tall blond) and Mitch (dark mullet) also are Superfruit and have awesome covers. You should listen to their medleys. Great reaction. All voice.
ThNks for giving us recommendations also and ... more PTX. You know they won 3 Grammys, right? You might like Daft Punk medley .
It's all their voices!!! When you see them live, you will see that!
Their World Tour finishes the European leg was postponed until 2021. They already did North and South America, Christmas Tour back in the US, East Asia and Australia and New Zealand (Feb 2020). Europe was supposed to happen this spring and summer.
At the end of the last Pentatoniix video you asked people to comment the word Chicken if they made it through the whole video- or you asked which came first
Omg lol I forgot all about that 🤦♂️now it all makes sense 😖
@@BowsersreactionPit 😂
Oh god, I forgot all about that too. Wooooops. hahaha Thank you!
Hahhaha 😂
Haha I was one of those that commented “Chicken” lol
To answer one of your questions! :)
In this video you have Matt (white jacket) as bass.
♥️
All voice! And they sound even more impressive LIVE!
At the end of your video last time you said to show we had made it to the end by typing in the word chicken, LOL
Thank y'all so much for taking my recommendations!!! Seriously, you made a lonely girl feel pretty special ❤️❤️❤️
To understand "chicken" listen to the very end of your Daft Punk video and your son was talking about chicken and you asked our opinion...
Time for "AHA!" Live in Singapore! It was filmed from the audience but is excellent quality! Amazing! 💕
The gentleman on the right is Kevin Olusola. There is a video of him while in high school playing the saxaphone with piano accompaniment on stage at Carnegie Hall. Kevin graduated from Yale with a degree in premed. He also was first chair cello in the Yale orchestra.
Check out Pentatonix singing Hallelujah live on their Christmas Special. Live No electronics!!
Can’t wait to see your reactions to their Bohemian Rhapsody! And for something completely out your wheelhouse, Hallelujah.
8:17 Matt the bass with the white jacket did the low part, he has a very good connection to his high and deep voice, Scott the blond guy did the bass at Matt’s solo
Ahh you finally reacted to this! Hooray! Glad you enjoyed the PTX experience 😉
