This song was recorded in a closet in Avi's (the bass) house in 2013. It won them a Grammy and a recording contract. They shot the video themselves in the same home for $400. The room they shot the video in was 20 square feet and only big enough for 1 person, which is why you don't see any group shots in the video. lol - they sound the same live. Look up "pentatonix daft punk private performance" for a live, no mic performance of this masterpiece. a few answers for you: Pentatonix is as you saw named after the pentatonic scale and after the number of people in the band - penta (five in latin). Run to You is one of their original songs Sound of Silence is the Simon and Garfunkel song and is much more recent compared to this one. PTX has a STRONG fanbase, so any reaction to them will get plenty views :) The group has been around for about 9 years, so you have lots to catch up on if you're interested. They have 3 Grammys, 2 #1 albums on the Billboard top 200 chart and have sold over 10 million albums in the US alone. They play stadiums and arenas around the world - most definitely THE most succesful acapella band ever. There has been one member change in the band (2017 - their original bass singer left and they got a new one later that year) - everyone else has been there from the beginning (2011 NBC Acapella competition The Sing-Off - they won season 3). Recommendations: Sound of Silence, Havanna, Bohemian Rhapsody, Hallelujah, Can't Hold Us, Can't Sleep Love, Sing!
Kevin could make the sound of the tire blowing out and then the sound of the flap as you drive on it. Kevin (the beatboxer) has been described by many as Inhuman. Sound of Silence is great and so is the cover of Imagine. Do either one of those and you will be amazed. 4,641 views as of right now (Monday at 5am). JAMACIAN and CHICKEN for your son, so yeah, I listened. They were actually on one of those V shows. The three main singers (Kristin, Mitch-small guy high voice and Scott Tall Blond have been freind since grade school. When they tried to try out for the Sing Off (Season 3) they were told they needed 5 people, so they found AVI - Deep Base (he has been known to blow speakers and Kevin - Beatboxer. They one their first Grammy for this song (the academy created a new category in order to give it to them) They now have 3 Grammys one was with Dolly Parton on her song Jolene. This video in particular was after they had won the Sing Off and a Sony recording contract and then Sony dropped them and told them that there was not an audience for A Capella. They gathered together what they had ($400) and filmed this in a kitchen and recorded the sound in a closet at one of their apartments. THEY DID NOT GIVE UP THEIR DREAM. Fast forward almost 10 years and they have a total of 10 albums (many multi Platinum) this includes Christmas albums. They sell out stadiums world wide. If you want to see a comparison from a studio production and a live production, react to Hallelujah both the official video (546 million views) and then the one recorded in front of a live audience for their Christmas Special on NBC at Rockefeller center. That way you can see that they are not heavily edited. ALSO if you like rap at all check out Can't Hold Us (a mash up of 2 Macklemore songs) and yes, they did an A Capella version of Bohemian Rhapsody that was a tribute to Queen. I have SUB'd with you, hope to see you do more Pentatonix also know as PTX Pentaholics is the fan base and we are very loyal to them and love reactors.
No filters. 😂 They do it all live in concerts too, & it sounds just as good. When Avi referred to Run To You in the outro he was talking about their original song with that title. It's a VERY different style. (Although they typically stay in the pop or pop/ genres, they do other genres too as seen by this homage to Daft Punk.) Also, rather than Run To You having separate roles like usual, all 5 of them harmonize as co-leads for most of the song. Their cover of John Lennon's Imagine is fabulous & lets you hear them all in turn as leads. Also, they covered Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody. Yes Bohemian Rhapsody done live, with nothing but 5 people's voices/vocal sound effects. The only non-human assistance is when Mitch makes the electric guitar sounds there's a reverb added to his mic. In the official video it's shown by him using a megaphone, because they are particular about letting people know visually if there is anything not 100% a capella. (For instance, a few songs also have the beatboxer playing cello, so it's shown in the video too.) They did do a great cover of Sound of Silence not long ago. (I forget who wrote it but originally Simon & Garfunkel sang it.) Because it's more recent you'll see the new bass Matt, as the original bass Avi left (for personal reasons) in late 2017 after helping to find his replacement. And yes I made it to the end.🤣
I haven't even watched you guys react to this... But I know that you guys will be mind blown by this amazing acapella group.. I cannot wait to watch y'all reactions. Here goes 😁😁😁
Howdy to Jackson! This is a super awesome cover! Pentatonix is my most preferred a capella group of all I'm aware of, which is maybe two. They are most definitely 100% themselves.
Welcome to your journey down the PTX wormhole, I’m excited for you to do more of their stuff! Please do ALL the PTX. Their covers are awesome but i love their originals, ‘Love Again’ and ‘Cant Sleep Love’ are my favs.
They have an original song called Run to You, which is what they were talking about. The Sound of Silence is a great cover, but my favorite is Imagine. I hope you get to watch many PTX videos because they’re amazing!
Pentatonix actually got their start winning an NBC show called The Sing Off which was all acabella groups. This particular song was right after award contract company dropped them and they filmed it for $400 in a kitchen and recorded it in the closet, then won their first Grammy which Grammy's had to create a category for.
You guys are hysterical. Just FYI they have 2 more grammies - Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies and Jolene. You may want to watch those 2 before ranking down on them. Just a thought.
your cd skipping part is also actual i heard a cell phone version of this they did in a green room with no mics other than the sound being softer it was as you ;hear here. just less volume plus they were relaxed in street clothes still amazing
Pentatonix, as suggested by Scott Hoying, is named after the pentatonic scale, a musical scale or mode with five notes per octave, representing the five members of the group.
I think you should react to pentatonix cover of bohemian rhapsody..it is the finest cover of the song ever done...and all musical instruments are done by their own voices..no layering, no special effects....it will leave you stunned with wonder.
They started in 2011, and after 6 years, by 2017, each member was worth over $8 million!!! So they've made it, and they have over 18,000,000 UA-cam subscribers to show for it!! They sound almost identical live as they do studio!!
Yes!!! So glad to watch your reaction to Pentatonix!!! If you’re feeling adventurous, check out Scott and Mitch together, as Superfruit, doing their Beyoncé medley... absolutely amazing and recognized by Beyoncé herself as flawless! Just do it!😁

Great reaction ^_^ Most groups would have to use effects, but PTX does things with just their voices most other groups need like, studio gear and electronics to do. Always great to see someone react like, "What!? No way they have to be cheating." xD "If it only gets like 250 views..." Pentaholics invade and video gets 25K views. xD Chicken.
Jamaican Chicken?? You guys are fun! Thanks for some honest opinions and for also commenting on the very end of the video! "Run to You" is actually an original song written by Pentatonix and definitely not the Bryan Adams version. Also the guy who CAN see but with a visor only is Geordi La Forge (played by LeVar Burton) :)
They’re a cool a capella band. It’s all of their voices and Kevin (the black guy) is the beat boxer. Scott (the blonde Guy) is technically the lead singer. Pentatonix was a name they came up with meaning 5 (there were three [the trio] when they entered The Sing Off and added Avi and Kevin later. Avi (Bass) left and was replaced by another black guy).

You should really watch and react to their live performance “AHA! Singapore, The Star Vista”. It’s a really amazing performance. Also, Avi (the bass) blew out the speakers of the Venue with his extremely low notes. It’s definitely worth a watch!
I think they recorded in one of their apartments for super cheap. They are just that good. Pentaholics (Pentatonix fans) are loyal followers and you should get tons of views. Their Bohemian Rhapsody cover rocks too
I guess its a compliment to their talent when reactors think they are faking it or filtering their craft. But its kind of insuting at the same time. They r professionals. They win grammys for this. They take this very seriously. This is ALL them. Period.
Being au-naturel with a voice and recording is something not many do nowadays. Yes, that definitely makes them unique and very talented. Upon a first listen and trying to mentally sort that out, it can definitely be confusing. But, we've definitely grasped it further as we went along. You also didn't seem to notice that they sang 3 songs from Daft Punk, first one after the other, then combined two and sang them simultaneously, then sang all three at the same time.
IMO, they didn't notice because of how good he is. I constantly have to remind myself that it's actually Kevin. I can be starting straight at home and my brain still doesn't want to believe his snare.
Time for "AHA!" Live in Singapore! It was filmed live from the audience but is excellent quality! Amazing! 💕
Didn’t take long did it. Pentaholics willl definitely be looking forward to seeing more PTX reactions from you
Chicken, of course. I always watch until the end. And at this point you have 4,619 views, 391 likes (counting mine), and probably a bunch of new subscribers (me included). Please do more Pentatonix! And no--they don't use filters. This arrangement of songs by Daft Punk won them their first Grammy. You have 169 comments (170 with mine) so I won't tell you any more stuff that other people have already told you. But if you have any questions about PTX, just ask, and I guarantee we Pentaholics will answer! And bring in the kid! Pentatonix is family friendly.
they won an acapella show called the sing off
lol - they sound the same live. Look up "pentatonix daft punk private performance" for a live, no mic performance of this masterpiece.
a few answers for you:
Pentatonix is as you saw named after the pentatonic scale and after the number of people in the band - penta (five in latin).
Run to You is one of their original songs
Sound of Silence is the Simon and Garfunkel song and is much more recent compared to this one.
PTX has a STRONG fanbase, so any reaction to them will get plenty views :)
The group has been around for about 9 years, so you have lots to catch up on if you're interested.
They also did a cover of Bohemian Rapsody, really cool! Or Hallelujah, it's a really good cover!
i like reactions of people when they hear Mitch in both those videos. Also if you have to ask "is that Mitch?" it is Mitch
Their Hallelujah cover is a life changing expirience
I love you guys, please listen to them live. I think you'd get a better feel for them. They are famous worldwide for a reason lol.
I have SUB'd with you, hope to see you do more Pentatonix also know as PTX
Pentaholics is the fan base and we are very loyal to them and love reactors.
Her name is Kirstin.
(For instance, a few songs also have the beatboxer playing cello, so it's shown in the video too.)
They did do a great cover of Sound of Silence not long ago. (I forget who wrote it but originally Simon & Garfunkel sang it.) Because it's more recent you'll see the new bass Matt, as the original bass Avi left (for personal reasons) in late 2017 after helping to find his replacement.
And yes I made it to the end.🤣
You guys are so cool ! Such a pleasure to watch you react to this video !
Big up from France !
I haven't even watched you guys react to this... But I know that you guys will be mind blown by this amazing acapella group.. I cannot wait to watch y'all reactions. Here goes 😁😁😁
Nope, no filters, no auto tune. They perform this song live and won a Grammy for it
Their cover of Sound of Silence, and Bohemian Rhapsody. Both amazing! Seriously, jump down the rabbit hole guys. You won't regret it.
Posting one tonight
Hey guys, they won an Emmy for this video! Cost them about $400 to do it. Plus they're freaky talented & extremely popular.
12:51 "wait a minute... 2014??!!" *looks at watch* lmao
Love PTX!! I need more lol! Check out Hallelujah, Bohemian Rhapsody or sound of silence
They don't really have a lead singer, per se, but if I had to pick one, I'd say it's the one with the blue eyes.
Pentatonix are amazing.
Ha Ha Ha
Y'all about to lose your chit!!! I can't wait for this reaction.😂
Man, y'all didn't disappoint! Straight clowning 😂😂😂
Great video guys....hey everyone
Pentatonix, as suggested by Scott Hoying, is named after the pentatonic scale, a musical scale or mode with five notes per octave, representing the five members of the group.
FINALLY! I've been waiting for you to get to them since I recommended it ages ago!
Star Trek, it was Jordi LaForge wearing the visor. (reference to the sunglasses that Kevin Olusola was wearing).
I think you should react to pentatonix cover of bohemian rhapsody..it is the finest cover of the song ever done...and all musical instruments are done by their own voices..no layering, no special effects....it will leave you stunned with wonder.
That was cool, I think you guys would like some of the other PTX stuff especially the mashups.
you need to listen by pentatonix "imagine, bohemian rhapsody, attention"
They started in 2011, and after 6 years, by 2017, each member was worth over $8 million!!! So they've made it, and they have over 18,000,000 UA-cam subscribers to show for it!! They sound almost identical live as they do studio!!
Since they have a combined worth of about $50 million, Katy Perry can focus on helping someone else. They good. 😂
Yes!!! So glad to watch your reaction to Pentatonix!!! If you’re feeling adventurous, check out Scott and Mitch together, as Superfruit, doing their Beyoncé medley... absolutely amazing and recognized by Beyoncé herself as flawless! Just do it!😁
No filters,no magic,no loops.. just their voices and a beatboxter.
No filters.... you have just had your minds scrambled by PTX. Enjoy the journey!!! You have a loooong amazing journey!!! And at this point you have 8k+ views Lololol. Pentaholics are very loyal and will support your channel especially if you are doing PTX.
Avi (Bass) left and was replaced by another black guy).
so glad to see new fans of PTX!!! you are in for a treat. new subscriber here. I'm a huge Pantaholi, also . . . Chicken! lol Dark Helmet is from Space Balls!! Love that movie.
I know I’m way late but I am so glad I found your page!! PTX music makes me feel closer to my mom who passed 4 months ago unexpectedly. We went to a PTX concert just a month before that.
THANK GOD!!!!!!! This generation's Doug & Bob!!!!! You guys are awesome!!!! Subbed!
You reacted to Avi Kaplan 6 months ago, he is the bass here. He's the original bass in Pentatonix.
Pentatonix: Bohemian Rhapsody
You should really watch and react to their live performance “AHA! Singapore, The Star Vista”. It’s a really amazing performance. Also, Avi (the bass) blew out the speakers of the Venue with his extremely low notes. It’s definitely worth a watch!
Pentatonix - If I Ever Fall in Love ft Jason Derulo is a fantastic cover. Also, Jamaican chicken is really good.
they also perform this live. they are amazing. ❤️
Coming up, we have recorded and waiting to be posted "The sound of silence" by them. Stay tuned!
Welcome to the wormhole that is ptx! Cannot wait for Christmas for all their covers then to be reacted to
You guys would love their covers of Bohemian Rhapsody and Hallelujah
Editing tricks? None.
Watch Pentatonix perform Daft Punk Medley LIVE
in PRIVATE performance: ua-cam.com/video/tw4YCsHXKgI/v-deo.html
in CONCERT: ua-cam.com/video/vz4CFeWBiEQ/v-deo.html
They sound even better live. They are CRAZY talented
They actually recorded this video in a closet! Their names are Scott (lead), Mitch, Kirsten, Kevin (beat boxer) and Avi (bass).
No filters! No effects! They sound very much the same live in concert. That was one of the things they wanted to do was to record in a way that they could perform and sound as well.
This was recorded in a closet using an iPad and they won a Grammy for this.
You should check out their songs from the TV competition "the sing off." You'll learn that they didnt use filters. Cheers
I love the Spaceballs references at the end! Had me crying a little.
There's a live version of this song performed at their old high school. Literally all voices, there's a bathroom in the back. Recommend you watch it
You're faces when PTX did the bridge 😁
Bros, Pentatonix sounds 99.9% like this live. Without mics. They're awesome
Another great Acapella Group is Homefree
I love your reaction to this song! Oh and Chicken lol
someone start a petition to make bowzer and sporto do a Pentatonix style a capella.
