Episode 5 really felt like a stab in the gut; not even halfway through the season, and now two Presidents are dead. Now, it feels like it’ll just be a massive cliff-dive; all the progress that’d been made and hope of a better future..... *GONE* within the blink of an eye!

No, there won't be a season 9. Gansa confirmed long back that this will be the final season and that they will bring the story to (hopefully) a satisfactory conclusion.
However, when asked about a spin-off he said there are currently no plans but "never say never".
In any case, what a show, what a fitting and thrilling final season it's been so far!
