    Your video was excellent! Thank you for making such an easy step by step process. I just replaced mine and it now works great! Biggest problem I had was getting the shaft out. I had to hit it with a sledge hammer so hard that it actually broke the sealed unit spilling oil onto my floor. But I eventually got it- I could not believe how hard that was to pull out!

      You're welcome! Yes, sometimes they can be a pain to get out. I sometimes use a 2×4 wood piece and a hammer on the shaft.

    This is by far the best, to-the-point guide on replacing the transmission. Fixed for me, too. The most trouble I had was the unit's four bolt sizes for the transmission - not 3/8". I had to work with 10mm. Thanks for the great show!

    Mine is three years old and just started doing this. At first it was squeaking and grinding like a bearing was going out. A few loads later this noise. Since then I have researched the replacement item and can buy it for around $150. Thanks to you I will be doing it with a handyman coworker at my work. Our shop has all the tools.

    Excellent video. 9.9/10 just because I had a lot of trouble getting that plastic U-Clip back in the hub but i finally figured it out by shaving with a steak knife and whittling it down and then putting it all the way clicked in before I put the hub down over the transmission i had to force it down but after getting to the end of the job and spending over an hour just on that U-clip. (Last step) i was very relieved to see it was in, then i just tapped it back far enough to get the screw in that slot and I was able to tack it back into place.

Basically, is it just annoying but since I can deal with the freight train in my washroom, it’s ok to wash clothes??? Really appreciate anyone that helps with their knowledge!

      Eventually, the bearings will seize, and the drum will stop spinning (might also damage the tub seal/tub). Will that happen in two weeks? Probably not, but don't hold me to it, lol!

    What about Maytag washer that sounds exactly like tv or radio static. Only lasts 7-10 seconds . The weird thing is it sounds like radio static amplified by 20 arena rock speakers. It’s and ungodly noise and ends as abruptly as it starts . It does not sound mechanical and I don’t smell electrical or ozone, it always stops when I go to investigate and only shows up may be 1 in 19 cycles.

    My whirlpool washer only screams during the braking cycle of spin, when it is trying to slow the tub from spinning. Any ideas. Is that a transmission issue as well?

    • @cl219
      @cl219 3 місяці тому

      If you have an older one chances are it just needs some grease around the basket drive where the brakes pads are located. That is IF it is a direct drive style whirlpool. You can unclip the pump off the motor, then drop the transmission with the motor still on it to get to the basket drive
