I have some hidden under "Mayan Mayhem: A Huge Deity Histographic" in the Hall of Fame Discussion thread, and in "Spoonwood's Hall of Fame Attempts". I just want to share that to this day, my Dad is still playing completely unpatched vanilla Civ 3 so the Great Lighthouse still lets him cross the entire ocean.
Grassland cow is stronger than plains cow, especially on 60% land coverage. Irrigated it gives enough surplus food to have a city get to 4 food per turn as non-agricultural and 5 food for per turn as agricultural, if all other worked tiles have 2 food. Having production also, that's 5 food per turn for that 4 turn settler factory or 2 turn worker pump with a granary.
Yeah I was talking bs. It's only really true in this case, where I have several cows + the ag bonus already giving a bunch of food. Doubly so if you have few forests.

I've beaten Sid several times without reloading, but ONLY, on archipelago maps, and when I am alone on the island. The bigger the map, the easier it is. Go go Suede, this will be fun to watch! :)
Archipelago is easier at first but harder at the end. With pangea if you establish yourself well at the start, you can just have them all smash each other at the end while you run away with the game. On archi, it can be impossible to stop runaway AI.
@@suedeciviii7142 Oops. I just checked microbe's article, and yes you can redeclare before 20 turns without a reputation hit... provided that you haven't payed gold per turn in the peace treaty deal. My mistake!
Not true i just did that recently where i redeclared pre turn 20 peace deal and i still got rep hit. It was white peace so nothing traded on either side
You were talking about how the Celts have it harder because Iron Working is expensive but it got no trade value because AI always get it quickly BUT you were kind of tempted to get it by bankrupting your empire xD
I do really like seeing this, because I often struggle to handle when the AIs are well ahead of you tech-wise. Don't plan on doing sid any time soon, I'm still getting a handle on demigod lol, but seeing the kind of things you can do to pull ahead against all odds is helpful I think
100% it's the UU. The Mayan UU is basically useless in combat (for conquest, certainly). The MW is the best UU in the game. For context when I played Mayans in my Deity bad land stream, I used horsemen to conquer. Imagine horsemen with a +50% attack bonus. It's just bananas. The Iroq also start with Alphabet which is fantastic. But Masonry is a half decent imitation of Alphabet, so in that department the Mayans don't lose too many points.

Guys, I recently changed my mainboard and now my civ3 is stretched, even the city menu fills out the whole screen. Anyone got an idea how I can get the black bars at the sides back?
Not really, in my experience. Fewer enemies means that current enemies will have much more lands to spread out, becoming insanely powerful after some time, and it also mean you have less variations to trade. Your best bet is to have as many enemies as possible, and as equal in strength.
It depends on the map, and on how you play. On Sid the AI really struggles if they have few cities. But on the flip side, they will plant next to your capital from 2 sides and box you in. You also have more people to trade with.
Don’t know u caught a break I guess mongols settle the second city you settle in your game with there third settler. I literally can’t even walk the 1 settled to the location before they grab it lol rip
If you don't have experience, you are wasting your time. Network your way into a job first and if you still want the degree go for it otherwise do not get a Master. I would even argue against a Bachelors. I recommend a two year degree and Networking your way into a job. In the end, B A and higher are only good when you want to leave your country of origin otherwise don't become a debt slave. Lucky for me, I found a affordable University and my circumstances allowed me to pay my entire 4 year degree off.
I know Salamanca is a town in upstate New York but it is a little disconcerting to see it be the default Iroquois capital name. I hope you didn't choose Spain as one of the other civs; that could be weird. But this looks like a strong start and an entertaining game. I love the snowcapped mountain range ... the Civ 3 terrain has a lot of good flavor to it.
Great timing on this. I just found your Sid series where you played as India and did the gol per turn trade to AIs and then disconnected your capital so it would cancel. I was curious if you'd be able to do it without that. I'm grabbing some popcorn and going to find out!
I remember googling a Civ 3 Sid game on UA-cam and not finding anything satisfactory: finally, many years after that you are doing the impossible!
