This is something I've always wondered about because in the intro cutscene Survivor and Monk are clearly Slugpups, or at least younger, but in game they're adults
I don't know lore-wise, but it makes sense to me that a significant amount of time passed since the end of the cutscene and the start of the game. Because it also doesn't make sense why Monk followed Survivor down the drain at most like a minute apart and yet they are separated chronologically so far since you can never meet in the game world despite starting the game in the exact same spot.
@@bibliobeebo2927 for Monk I always assumed it was a "You just missed them!" Thing, but the game doesn't exactly convey that there's been a progression of time between the cutscene and gameplay
My guess is that they spent the remainder of time between the opening cutscene and gameplay in that place between the Outer Expanse - Outskirts gate and the surv/monk spawn point we see in Spearmaster's campaign. It has plenty of food and not a single predator, so it'd make sense for them to not want to leave the place. Then, once they reached adulthood, they most likely wandered around until finding the exit (and point of no return) that we know as their spawn point. It still doesn't answer how they didn't stumble into each other at any point, especially seeing how Monk went after Surv almost immediately in that same cutscene. Monk's campaign can't realistically be happening any more later than a few cycles after Surv's, which also raises a few questions as to how fast Pebbles is rotting? Just compare his can between campaigns... but I digress.
@nomihabo9752 rotting is exponential, like cancer at later stages. Spearmaster and artificer were in the beggining of the rot process, hunter got into post-flush times, where 5P delayed progress, after this rot is in the middle of progress, with monk having pre-Rivulet state of decay.
@@calluxdoaron1903 Yeah. What I'm getting at is that the speed of the rotting process has to be incredibly fast, for the (presumably) short time it has to advance between Surv's n Monk's campaigns. A lot of changes happened in what's probably less than a handful cycles, don't you think?
