I'm playing through this game for the first time, and I just got through memory crypts and a little ways through the leg. I'm stuck in a room with grapple worms. I accidentally went to the place with the train cars and centipedes, which is apparently the very last area in a campaign, haha. I knew the game was hard, but the difficulty spike caught me off guard. Turns out that I'm just dumb! P.s. I went through Shaded Citadel in complete dark because I had no porl, and the one time I did get a lantern, I immediately died.
On my first playthrough my favorite part of the game was Memory Crypts. Now I know it has a bad reputation in the community, but for me, who was stumbling around the world with no clue what to do and having a miserable time, Memory Crypts gave me something to focus on. You have the risk vs reward of going through pipes (slow) vs running above ground (fast). Running is much faster, but leaves you vulnerable to the birds You have two hands, and you need to choose whether you want a spear (can stick into the wall to let you climb over obstacles rather than going under them through the pipes) or a flashbang (one get out of jail free card for the birds) It’s linear, and after being lost for so long, having only one path forward was refreshing It’s like a stealth mission, and I like those in video games generally Importantly, I actually felt like I was learning and improving as I went through there. I didn’t know why a DLL would reach out and grab me sometimes and other times let me crawl past. But I knew exactly why the birds got me, and that was something that was within my control more or less. It’s probably was less cool as a slugpup because you can’t have a spear and a flashbang at the same time though
I really loved the mood the Memory Crypts have on my first playthrough It was like my favourite part of the game. I still like it a lot, but after trying to beat inv/enot a few times you really start to hate the place
I found that in my first playthrough chimney canopy was a nightmare. Not only were there vultures that could just grab you, there were long jumps that if you failed you would die. Additionally, in order to progress you needed 4 karma, which is insane for a new player due to the reasons I listed above. Whereas memory crypts was much easier to get through. The only issue is actually getting into five pebbles.
I feel like this is the platformer equivalent of fire emblem engage's maddening mode. Because in both rain world's slugpup mod and the maddening mode you have to basically have a good grasp of every gimmick and mechanic to get to the end.
no clue whether you'll continue with or without the grapple worm, but if you don't, i suggest learning either corpse trimping or wall climbing, they're really easy to pull off and give you that vertical mobility that you're missing Other than that, great video!
sadly, if I want to bring a neuron to moon, I have to leave my friend, because of the one hand restriction. Also I don't think I'll use these, because they seem more like exploits and not cool movement tech and that seems like cheating to me
I forgot to mention that in this video, but going through FP would not be much different because of the no gravity Yes it would be easier, but it would be the same as going through there without the mod and I feel that it would be more boring TLDR I want to suffer

the pain of going all the way through memory crypts just to die to a hole is so relatable
Not A hole. THE hole. It's like everyone, without fail, falls into this hole.
@@bluphenyxI remember my first time getting to the leg and falling down that hole lol

Slugpup tech goes hard
Love how long the slugpup’s arms go when throwing and hanging, they look so comical

Imagine doing survivor with one arm, no stomach storage and less agility
And reduced spear damage
And less jump and flip height
