This is just my favorite type of video. Something that could be basic, but was turned to something incredible by the voluntary efforts of an extremely talented man no one knows about. Keep up the great work, Posy. I'll make sure to follow it as long as it exists.
Dude, what a beautiful system! Back in the 90s my dad had a shop where we sold these systems - Kenwood, SONY, Panasonic, Technics, Philips, etc. I still have my old catalogues. I could only dream to own some of these back in the day!
Posy, you are without doubt the most dedicated youtuber I have seen. Your videos are professionally made, and your camera work is perfectly executed. And you go even further and even make your OWN music! I've never seen a youtuber do that for their videos. Keep up the great work!
Posy, je bent echt een legend. Ik kijk elke keer weer vol fascinatie naar hoe je met zo veel passie vertelt over dingen waar ik nooit stil bij stond. Veel love
I appreciate your way of adoring those old hifi systems, I do the same thing but for old TVs and I know that having 4 CRTs chilling in your living room is weird!
You know it's a good day when Posy uploads a video! I think the best part about watching your videos is that they give the younger generations a feeling of what the technology our parents used when growing up and in their 20s. On top of that, your videos turn each product/subject into a timeless experience, something I've not seen being done so well by anyone else. Very cool, keep up the content!
Nowadays the dual sound feature would make some sense - you can have your email and whatnot notification at the same time than listening to cd's for example. Awesome video. And now I know i'm not the only one who 'designed' his own stereo systems back in the day to my sketsbooks.
I remember how design and functionality used to get hold of me, just as your channel does to me since I had the fortune to see it. And it bring back memories is another factor that plays on my melancholy. Thanks a lot
One of the very few channels I have all notifications turned on for, amazing work! And man, you can really tell those are good speakers from the sound they produce in that room during your omni speaker demo
I sold one of these not long ago on ebay in the UK. The pre-amp display is known to go blank, but it is just a 50 pence capacitor that needs replacing inside as I fixed 2 of them after finding this out ;) They're lovely-looking stereos, with the only fault being the slow-acting volume knob. Making your own cassette tapes definitely required the use of the manual, as it was quite complicated.
Hey @davidreynolds3082, this is what has happened to mine, do you think you could lead me to which capacitor needs replacing ? Thanks. Would love to be able to get this system up and running again.
You inspire me so much dude. Your videos are perfect and your music is fucking incredible. Listening to it melts my mind. Thank you for everything you do.
Wonderful video. I cannot express how much understanding I have for every single second of it. Your videos encouraged me to take action and boldly solve a problem most normal people just ignore: some music I like tends to disappear from the internet. So I decided to save it the old skool way like I always imagined it should be done - on minidisc! I never actually had one in it’s heyday but since I’m older and I can afford it now I thought: why the hell not. Minidisc are cute and colorful, the source is compressed anyway. I was also looking for a slightly better pair of speakers for my PC so before actually ordering a pair of decent monitors - why not take a look at the 00’s bookshelf hifi? And so I did. I found one by accident that was kinda broken but dirt cheap and just went for it thinking - it’s a good start of a quest for something better. I wasn’t afraid of repairing it myself obviously because it was dirt cheap. After two weeks of taking it apart and putting it together again I managed to fix every issue so now I had a placeholder micro hifi to play (and save by recording record) some music while looking for a better and more advanced system - maybe even from Japan! It took me a few months of tracking the ebay to come to a bitter sweet conclusion: there were no better systems than the one I bought dirt cheap almost by accident (cmt100md). Every other system I found is plagued with way more issues and by any mean even more frustrating to use nowadays. The worst part is I was really looking forward to enjoy the quest inspired by your videos to find myself the best hifi of it’s day. I know it saved me from having a closet full of old hifis I never use but the quest... oh I know it's stupid but I still think it would have been a wonderful and pointless waste of time and money :)
I never knew I'd ever do this: turn on notifications for a UA-cam channel. Thanks for having so much fun with this weird topic, and presenting it in such a beautiful way.
I just discovered your channel, and i think you're about to be one of my favorite creators on this platform. Thank you so much for the love and care that went into this strangely entertaining video

My parents have this unit with all the optional extras like Omni Top speakers. I was blown away when I heard the 3d sound CD that came with it. Still an awesome unit by todays standards.
Thanks bunches, Michiel! Another incredibly fun and immersive video. Love it to bits. Awesome tunes as well; I actually prefer the vocal version of Just Play a Song 💜.
I would absolutely love nothing more than to have the time, motivation, and skill to make overproduced videos about things only I care about. I have none of it, but thankfully Posy does, I love it

The videos this gentleman produces make the internet a better place. I would be very curious to see what a collaboration with Techmoan would produce :-)
Where have you been all my life. The whit, the creativity, the masterpiece that is this channel. This is right up my alley and I’ll be here as long as you are.
Ah!! My dad had the *exact* same sound system!! This is the piece of equipment that got me into audio visualizers. I loved watching the little bars 'sing and dance' to the grateful dead growing up. My dad always had it in some weird echo mode (DSP) and thought that's just how they're supposed to sound lol.
Just thinking of all those people who were (or still are) convinced that a certain "sound mode" was/is how music should actually sound like, and then be really enthusiastic or even get annoyed or mad if you're trying to convince them otherwise. Just a year ago, I went to this couple's place, whom I had never met before, with a friend. At pretty early stage I noticed that the rear speakers of his home theater system were trying to output some music but it sounded like severely mashed up, distorted bits and broken compression algorithms. And once I noticed that, I tried to listen to the front speakers and they didn't sound much better. At some point I decided to fiddle with the remote and found a basic "stereo" mode. Then the system (with some pretty expensive looking main speakers) started sounding like they were actually playing music (without the surround speakers). Fast forward a bit and I hear the dude raising his voice about someone making changes on his receiver. Yeah, ok, I get it, I'd be pissed too if someone changed my settings, but only if they were some actually measured/set up room corrections that really took me time and not just some idiotic "dolby pro logic" or "BBE level +5" nonsense. I think his receiver was one of those very basic integrated home theater amps... Even though the dude seemed like he is in to hifi more than average, as there was another pair of floor speakers in the "hallway" of the apartment.
You know what happened when I saw that video in my feed? I instantly smiled without even actively expressing emotions which most probably says "this video gonna be good AGAIN"
I’m so glad I found this channel! Your humour is brilliant! 😅 I’m from the era of drooling over these gadgets, dreaming of having the money to buy them. My friend bought the previous system to this I think, used the Dolby surround sound with a laser disk player! And a Sony widescreen CRT TV.
I know times have moved on, but I still totally and untterly adore these old hifi systems. Nothing, in my opinion, can beat the sound of a couple of decent speakers and a decent stereo. A room full of sound is much better than an 'area' of sound which is what a lot of people get with their smart speaker. Brilliant video as usual, thank you 🙂
This is the best thing!!!! Love it!!!!! I miss the Aiwa and JVC Hi-Fi Stereo Systems I had growing up. Absolutely loved them, and your passion for this Kenwood was JUST AS lovely to see.
I've just discovered this channel thanks to a friend's suggestion. Nice stuff, beautiful devices! I love 'vintage' audio systems. I also own a few of them. Wish I knew how to repair them. Cheers from Uruguay, mate! Keep on rockin'
This video makes you feel like revisiting an old tech and intensively staring at it's features for a good amount of time, just like a normal audio geek would do that's born in the 90s. You can almost smell the innerds of the electronics just by watching. This channel is such a gem. thanks for making such a beautiful and in depth walkthrough, it really does scratch the itch of my inner geekiness lol.
you are very underappreciated for the quality of your work and the time that goes into it but the lot of us that watch your videos really appreciate it much more than most people would
That CD platter ejecting is one of the most satisfying things I've ever seen in my life, and I'm completely impressed with how you made a widescreen video version of the advertisement photo! Definitely one of my favorite UA-cam videos I've ever seen!
Oh Posy, discovered you via the pointer video, and yeah saw it and now only your pointers are suitable without going crazy for the crooked default ones :) But every time you post something new it is one big smile, thanks!
heheh i had a cd player with a block like that, and I got 2 extra blockes, 18 CDs yay, a Sony 5 CD changing player also so no matter how long the party, music was always easy, the Sony was for when people wanted to use other CDs :)
This Video has sooo much meme-potential, i mean @2:00, @2:16, @8:10. And buy more furniture, so you can store more stereos and we can watch more videos like this... I also still own a Kenwood Stereo-System from 97/98 but ist a compact one, a XD-551. My first love, still rocking! THX, wonderfull video.
Absolutely love the enthusiasm on your videos. I watched every single one of them despite having no interest in sound systems. Something just keeps bringing me back here.
You MIGHT have just enough room to fit a BDS PP-131 2U (or if not, the PP-131 1U), 31 Band (31 x 30 LED tall - Yup 930 LED's) Spectrum Analiser in the space tope left of all that Hi-Fi gear cabinet. ABSOLUTELY LOVE this thing. Multiple features/modes/displays, you can buy them with different colours (mine is all green with a row of 'Peak' level being Red), there are white with 'Peak' being blue, have a look, many to choose from. You can also get the 1U (half height 31 frequencies x 15 tall - Techmoan has one)). And being 51, I was in some of the best years in my life in the mid 80's/early 90's with my Fathers Technics stacked Hi-Fi system. Though there are many other type displays or designs of visualisers with waves, and weird coloured, spikey, flashy etc 'You've taken shrooms and seeing things' type music visual displays, but.... For me, having a good, basic segmented bar display with many frequencies, just... Visually shows what the various elements in the music I'm listening to is actually doing. Yeah, these units might be a few hundred quid (£), but, they are solidly built, have multiple connections for L & R channels, designed for Pro/DJ use, and in the 2.5 years I've had this PP-131, not one issue. I've not taken the film off the display either as it doesn't interfere with the display. AND what's more, I have it connected to my 1989 Technics SU-600 'New Class A' Integrated Amplifier, among it's specs 30W per channel into 8Ohms, frequency response 5Hz to 70Khz, Impedance 4Ohm to 16Ohm (serviced, amp chip & capacitors replaced) driving a pair of well placed mid range Sony bookshelf speakers. Now someone's reading this and thinking "Wait what? ONLY 30W per channel?" Ha, calm thy passions... Old Amps CAN deliver if matched to the right speakers. Though my input is from an Nvidia Shield K1 tablet with a Dragonfly Cobalt USB DAC, I have my SU-600 set on 2 (out of 10 on the volume) as THAT IS loud enough to annoy my house mates... So yeah, when you did your tests, I didn't need to put headphones on 👌😏. So yeah, just goes to show, the choice... Buy a new £/$400-500 or even £/$600 amplifiers, or... A serviced late 80's/90's (Technics/Sony/Kenwood/Pioneer/NAD etc) Hi-Fi gear Amplifier for £/$100-200 plus a good set of speakers... For my money, 'Old school' seriously STILL holds up to todays Amps with 'Class D' chips and electronics! Let's put it this way, my partners lad (17 years old) is all about BASS, THUMP, MAX WATTAGE!! hahaha, but... When I sit him down and play the stuff he likes on this, ahem, 'Ancient gear', hahaha, his face is a picture! Spacial, full, detailed, proper stereophonic clarity.... It's all about, buying the right amp (NO, max money doesn't always exactly equal 'Top sounding', and matching it to a good quality set of speakers. SO, for ANY budding 'Audiophiles' who want to step into the world of way better sounding equipment than just a Bluetooth speaker, try heading to UA-cams 'Cheapaudioman' and you'll get great help in finding a complete setup of Amp/Speakers for as little as £/$300-500 (and if you have the money, higher budgets are catered for too) , it's easy, and VERY possible. All the best to you 'True music lovers' out there! 👍😏 😎🇬🇧
Normally I would buy a Kenwood mixer or microwave. Not any audio gears. But this one won my heart. What an HiFi system. And the conent edit is epic ... 👌
Great stuff! I loved how you still had the drawing. In the mid 90's my brother had the car audio version of this baby. It was a big Kenwood double din with the spectrum analyser, cd, and tape deck, and it even had the various effects like hall, church, etc. I had one of the Kenwood excelon separate single din setups with the head unit and separate spectrum analyser/CD player but it wasn't till many years later.

I miss this kind of stereo. I used to have an Aiwa NSX Series from 1997-98 that did alot of similar functionalities.
Your opening shot, had me clapping. Got my like. I understand your effort.
I know times have moved on, but I still totally and untterly adore these old hifi systems. Nothing, in my opinion, can beat the sound of a couple of decent speakers and a decent stereo. A room full of sound is much better than an 'area' of sound which is what a lot of people get with their smart speaker. Brilliant video as usual, thank you 🙂
I LOVE the aesthetic of these old decks. I wish all tech I used in my daily life looked like these things.
This is the best thing!!!! Love it!!!!!
I miss the Aiwa and JVC Hi-Fi Stereo Systems I had growing up.
Absolutely loved them, and your passion for this Kenwood was JUST AS lovely to see.
Zonder grappen, deze kerel maakt betere content dan 95% van alle overige youtubers.
Pure kwaliteit.
Dank! Maar niet overdrijven nu 😁
This channel is such a gem. thanks for making such a beautiful and in depth walkthrough, it really does scratch the itch of my inner geekiness lol.
absolutely wonderful!
Thank you!! :)
you are very underappreciated for the quality of your work and the time that goes into it
but the lot of us that watch your videos really appreciate it much more than most people would
Thank you. Like the content and your humor.
And thank you! :)
That CD platter ejecting is one of the most satisfying things I've ever seen in my life, and I'm completely impressed with how you made a widescreen video version of the advertisement photo! Definitely one of my favorite UA-cam videos I've ever seen!
Awesome production quality. Amazed by the engineering effort of Kenwood 1n the 1990s.
You have no idea how long I've been waiting for you to upload… much love from the UK
I care about your passion because it energises me
Absolutely love the enthusiasm on your videos.
The ES100 is an excellent BT audio tool. And this channel is a gift. Keep doing what you're doing
Was caught very much off-guard by the slapstick acting. Fantastic video, man.
your passion is inspiring
I just bought your song. It's magnificent.
Normally I would buy a Kenwood mixer or microwave. Not any audio gears. But this one won my heart. What an HiFi system.
And the conent edit is epic ... 👌
This video is awesome. I love deep dives into random 90's tech and stuff people get passionate about.
