Gotta go with ocarina of time. It was my first Zelda I’ve ever played and everything about it is flawless, it is my most replayed game of all time. Plus the master quest version was great too for one mix ups in dungeons. I love a link to the past as well, but for me Oot all the way
Even though I am siding with The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past with it being my favorite of the two, you still make a lot of valid points concerning both games . There was a distinct thing that was memorable for me that you didn't happen to mention that was in A Link to the Past. It was the boy from Kakariko Village that you first run into playing a flute. The mystery behind him disappearing always intrigued me when I was a kid because I wondered where he went. And when you go into the Dark World only to see that he turned into some sort of animal/ creature and asks you to find his flute in Hyrule, when you bring it back to him and he requests for you to play his flute one last time since he is unable to play it anymore only for him to turn into a tree on the tree stomp actually got me emotional. Like... OMG.... he's dead... that's so sad. (Yes I know he got revived once you beat the game, but I didn't know that at the time. Lol) Also when you go back to see his father and tell him what happened to him also struck my heart. Also when you play his flute to the bird statue in the middle of Kakariko village and free a bird that actually belonged to the boy, it's like his spirit was connected with the bird and made it very convenient for you to teleport because of it. It's like his personal thank you for returning and playing his flute for him, so it felt bitter sweet after me getting to the point of the game. :) I know I am probably digging too deep into this and the game isn't really story heavy and it's kinda difficult to get really into the characters in comparison to 3D Zelda games, but I don't know... I feel like that game did a decent enough job to make me care about some of the characters, even if it was just a few of them, like the man in the Sanctuary is another example of memory moments with characters. With that said, I think the biggest reason why I love A Link to the Past more is it's very easy for me to pick up and play. The game isn't too lengthy and while you see linearity is a con in both games, personally I think it depends on personal preference. I understand people like having the freedom of going where ever they want in video games and not given a direct path, but if the level design itself is fun to me, that is all that matters. A good example of this is Super Mario Galaxy and comparing it to Super Mario 64. Super Mario Galaxy does not have much of a "Sandbox" level design like Super Mario 64 does, but if I have too much fun playing the Galaxies in the game to begin with, I really don't care if there isn't as much leeway to explore. Sure it's very nice to have that freedom, but if the linearity doesn't take away from the overall enjoyment of the game, I don't see it as a con. But with that said, just like you, I definitely do like some things more in Ocarina of Time compared to A Link to the Past. For one contrast between us, I actually like the music more in Ocarina of Time compared to A Link to the Past. I agree not all songs you can easily listen to that are atmospheric without actually playing the game, but for the songs that you can openly listen to and enjoy without playing the game hit a home run for me. Songs like the Forest Temple theme, Zora's Domain, Gerudo Valley and Lon Lon Ranch are songs I often like to listen to that are either very relaxing, catchy, atmospheric or all of the above. Anyways, sorry I wrote such a long comment, but I just wanted to give you my personal views. I love Ocarina of time very very much and even though it hasn't aged the best graphically (yeah I don't care much about graphics as well, so I am with you on that too xD) and even control wise, it's certainly a remarkable game and paved way for the future of Zelda games that only improved in the areas it struggled with. :)
still is a lot of shoes to fill for oot to compare. Alttp asked a lot . Still oot gave superiority to the franchise absent when alttp was the newest one
Fantastic video.. Found this after playing through link to the past for the first time (first Zelda game I've ever played) - and I've just brought an N64 with ocarina of time, so am looking forward to giving it a go.
I have never beaten A Link to the Past because it was too hard lol (I should make that a goal this year to beat it). My favorite moments in OoT would be Ganon playing the organ in the final dungeon. I think its sick that the main villain is playing music in the background while you're climbing up to face him in this huge finale. It's also awesome that the music gets louder the closer you get to the top. I also actually liked all of the Shiek scenes, the things Sheik would say coupled with the music and how Sheik would just pop up out of nowhere always sticks out to me. I actually use Sheik's Theme as my alarm for school lol. This was also the first Zelda game I ever beat, after watching a ton of top 10 videos and people talking and gushing about the game back in the day. Finally getting to play this legendary game for the first time is something I'll always remember this game for. I can also relate to wanting to replay the first segment of Ocarina over and over multiple times because that same thing happened with my brother and I with The Thousand-Year Door because we always rented it. I just have one question, what's the story behind why were your hearts so low at 14:13?
What points would I give to what game: 1: ALTTP 2: OOT 3: ALTTP 4: ALTTP 5: ALTTP 6: (ALTTP- level design, OOT- bosses, enemies)OOT 7:OOT ALTTP: 4 points OOT: 3 points I may not be fair because the first zelda game I played was breath of the wild which makes every 3D zelda game before it, but ALTTP still looks great with its pixel art graphics, that still look relevant because of indie games. A factor is also that I dont like a lot of dialogue. Ocarina of time would have a fairer chance if it had save states, but it would still lose imo. I prefer a link to the past and I would like to make a similiar game in the future

Don’t be sorry! I love comments like these! And I did forget about the boy from the village, that was a nice moment the game!
@@dippydurian Hee hee, thanks a lot. Really. :)
Lttp is superior

Zelda ocarina of time is my favorite but I can't deny Zelda alttp is really good too.
When I was a kid I was pissed off when I found out link had ear rings
Link should have a big and better weapons and armor also high explosives etc.

I don’t remember, probably because I suck.
And you should make beating a link to the past a goal for this year!
