We Did the famous High line Trail Hike in Glacier National Park. We did a short version of this hike that goes out to Haystack butte and back(about 3.5 miles out, 7 miles round trip). The total elevation gain is around 150 feet. It took about 3.5 hours of total trail time(with 35 mins of hanging out at Haystack Butte).
Helpful hints:
- be at the parking lot before 7am. It fills up fast. we arrived with the lot about 3/4 full
- the best views are in the first 2 miles.
- lots of shade in the AM. after 10am, you will be in full sun from haystack butte and beyond.
