A bear's olfactory sense is 1000x more powerful than that of a bloodhound! I don't think I would have the guts to have lunch out there! All it takes is one very hungry bear 🐻 . Beautiful video though!

The Grizzly Bears were for sure a highlight, but also a bit intimidating. 😉All these lakes are so beautiful that it is difficult to pick a favourite one. Big thumbs up 👍 Beautiful video with great information and so well edited! 😉 I was happy to see all the places you went . We bump our nose at Glacier in 2018 at the end of august because the park was completely closed due to forest fires 😢 This is a park I really want to back hopefully in 2022 if we can plan going in the USA from the Canadian side where we live . I would love to spent a 5 days in park but doing small hikes because Hélène ( my wife ) can’t hike long because of arthritis 😢 I have in mind of planning a 60 days road trip hopefully 🙏
Thanks again for this beautiful video

    very solid choices.
I would add Swiftcurrent pass ( or overlook(for the insane , like me) , another 100 feet elevation, and two miles, if I remember about 16 total round trip).
also on the iceberg lake trail there a split off to a tunnel,
both of these hikes are moderate to strenuous, but they are great
many glacier is my favorite area although still need to get to Two Med.

Hi David! That would be quite the workout and a fun adventure! There are some restrictions for the time you are allowed to be on a bike on GTTSR - here is a link on the park site with more info if you haven't had a chance to check that out yet: www.nps.gov/glac/planyourvisit/bicycling.htm There are a lot of winding sections with steep drop-offs with no shoulder (particularly from The Loop to Logan Pass), so just be super careful when you bike! I also remember seeing bicyclists putting their bikes on the shuttle and riding the shuttle back after bicycling part of GTTSR - so that is an option too! Have a great time and be safe!

Just watched your video. We’re going to Glacier next week for the first time. My wife and I are healthy 70 year olds. We plan on taking a red bus and a boat tour. Are there any easy hikes to one of the lakes? Anything else you might recommend for us would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance and Thank You for the informative video.

Thanks for watching, have a wonderful time in Glacier NP! If you are on the western side of the park, you might enjoy the hike to Avalanche Lake (about 6 miles roundtrip, 757' elevation gain)! www.alltrails.com/explore/trail/us/montana/avalanche-lake--6
From Logan Pass Visitor Center in the central part of the park, we enjoyed the 3 mile roundtrip hike to an overlook of Hidden Lake: www.alltrails.com/explore/trail/us/montana/hidden-lake-overlook
In the western side of the park, this trail looks nice, but we have not personally hiked the full route: www.alltrails.com/explore/trail/us/montana/johns-lake-loop (It also looks like part of this route may be closed to fire right now).
On the eastern side of the park, there are some nice trails/picnic areas around St Mary Lake: www.alltrails.com/explore/trail/us/montana/baring-falls-via-piegan-pass-trail
      Enjoy!

I'm looking to move to Montana within a year. What are your chances of running into bears out on these hikes?

We saw grizzlies almost every day on the eastern side of the park, and encountered one while hiking in the Many Glacier area. It seemed like the grizzly bears like the area east of Logan Pass and the black bear are more commonly seen on the western side of Logan Pass.

You broke the park up into 6 sections. When I go to a park I generally do the same and spend a day or so in each section. Are there any sections that you would devote more than a day to or combine to do multiple in a day. We like to explore

Thanks for your comment! I enjoyed the Many Glacier area the most because there are a good amount of long day hikes in that area, so when I get the chance to come back I want to spend a few days there.
