Never new of one with no mechanical connection between displacer and piston.
Over the years I’ve been amazed at the seemingly infinite variations possible with the Stirling cycle. Interesting how the Stirling cycle is even used in reverse as a source of extreme cold for scientific instruments in space satellites.

Nice engine. I've only seen blue flames on denatured alcohol before.
Possibly you saw a burner like a cook stove for hiking or camping that has air intake below the burner... more of a controlled burn whereas this is just a crude fire and a bit of a dirty burn. At least with the denatured alcohol it burns clean in the sense that it doesn't leave a bunch of carbon on everything. Ron
