    Just did 3 of these. 240ah. Replaced all my 7 titan 8 12volt. What a difference. Single 400 amp mechman alt. Ext regulator. Charge at 15.8-15.9. They will hold 15.1-15.3 for a minute with about a 1500amp current draw. So 500amp per bank. After about a minute it starts slowly dropping, but it’s rarely playing for more than 10-20 seconds at that volume. They also recharge fast. Back off the volume they are back at 15.8 very quickly. I could not more highly recommend these. I did 240ah with very nice bars. Each end accepts 10 sky high oversized 2/0. Total cost $3225. $1075 per bank. Great video big D.

      @DrMichaelPetty- Im not doubting your experience with the Titan 8, but were they the PWR= power, or RSV= reserve? Also maybe something was not right in your setup, or the New Titan 8 PWR batteries are much better now? Because i just recently seen a test, where only 1- Titan 8 S6 PWR (10Ah @ 75c!) battery was used (only had a 6amp charger hooked up for the test), and it only dropped 1.8volts (16.0v to 14.2v) and powered an amp to 11,400 watts R.M.S. On the Smd amp dyno, with a 1,000 amp draw! The test bigdwiz ran in this video above, with the 2 banks of 40Ah YinLong Lto, (so 80Ah total), dropped from 15.0v to 11.0v with a 500Amp draw= 1/2 the amperage draw, and more than twice the voltage drop! And only made 5800 watts on the dyno.

    • @evilinside5984
      @evilinside5984 Рік тому

      @DrMichaelPetty- That 400 amp alt. charging @ 15.8v supplys 6,300 watts all by it self, then each bank of 80ah yinlongs support 6k, so x3 or 240ah= 18k of battery power, and 6,300 from alt. Power, for a total electrical power output, that would support 24k. The Xs power 6S Titan 8 PWR, charging @ 16.6v with a 400 amp alt., would only Require 3 of these tiny batteries ($799 x3= $2,397) to maintain 16v, with a 1500 amp draw.

    Also, I would like to add that for car audio applications there are effecively no BMS modules that can efficiently sustain the current draws we may see (400A+). As such, nobody really runs the BMS in the car audio world. I would like to see a retest of this battery bank without the BMS.

    • @timhoover1416
      @timhoover1416 4 роки тому +6

      I guess as a person who does not know much about batteries, you did not see the gigantic bus bars that you connect to the amp. The BMS he was using did not control the flow of current from the battery, it only maintains the balance of the cells to each other. I work for the sister company to Yinlong that actually licenses them the LTO to make these cells. I'm an engineer, so I know what I'm talking about. There are BMS modules that will run the power through the BMS, don't buy one of those for high power applications like car audio.

    • @KuntalGhosh
      @KuntalGhosh 3 роки тому +2

      No need for bms. Just use a cell balancer.

    • @catch22frubert
      @catch22frubert 2 роки тому +5

      @@timhoover1416 There are definitely stand alone BMS units that can handle 500 amps continuous. Daly makes a 500 amp smart BMS that can do 500 amps continuous and I believe well over 1000 amps burst, and the BMS settings are accessible and adjustable. I've seen them for Lifepo4 batteries, but I haven't looked for an LTO BMS yet, but I'm sure they are out there. You are right though, the BMS would be a constant parasitic drain on the cells, and not desirable, even with the extra safety it provides. LTO Cells are already really safe and can take much higher Voltage than most car alternators provide, so I can understand why most people only run an active balancer with a 6s setup of LTO. Battery hookup has a nice little setup of LTO Cells for $200 that would be perfect for automotive duty, but I think I would probably want a 2p6s version of this setup, so at $400 plus balance board and some kind of Case, it's not so cheap anymore. It's probably still worth it though, just because they will outlast the car you put them in, but that's an argument you couldn't win with some people with a different viewpoint.

Purely cosmetic and honestly can't believe that cut the price in half. At any rate I am literally obsessed the cap it is unreal. I can't believe they don't seem to be gaining the traction they deserve. Running 2, 1k monoblock amps with factory premium amp (650ish watts) while charging my phone on a AC/DC converter with Heater/AC full tilt, windshield wipers on, and no perceivable voltage drops, lights dimming, and subs hitting so much harder maintaining consistent power with hungry continues trap bass lines. I literally almost want to purchase another one just in case mine gets stolen or breaks for some reason and they sell out (noticed some websites B-stock is getting low). But I figure with a 10 year or whatever it is warranty by the time the thing goes out whatever is available will be better or perhaps smaller which would be welcome. I still might buy another one while I can get one for 200 bucks for a christmas present or something. Father has a diesel truck that needs 2 batteries and a ton of juice to start so while not a basshead like me could use one of these and only 1 battery and not get stuck somewhere like we did the other day. Have a 5k amp on the way thats happy at mid 12 volts (sure you can guess which one that is) and just going to use my current 120 amp alternator (big 4 of course) and one XS AGM battery sitting next to the cap (have new LA battery under the hood, no isolator no issues) with 100% confidence. LTO batteries don't have very good discharge efficiency so the capacity isn't quite going to match 40 Ah. They do have some other benefits, though, but LiFePo4 is probably still the best way to go.

    • @cr0ft-2k
      @cr0ft-2k 5 років тому +1

      @@iamjackalope LTO cells are fine with being charged and discarged at 10C. That translates to 400 amps of current going in and out of them - per cell. Once you add six of these cells in series, you're looking at a battery pack that you can push 2400 amperes into/out of. Not that that is possible, there are too many other limiting factors, like the fact that 2400 amps at 12 volts would melt cables.

    • @cr0ft-2k
      @cr0ft-2k 5 років тому

      @Dave Micolichek Huh, yeah, you're right, I wasn't thinking that through. But still, you'd need one hell of a system to draw more than 400 amperes (and at 10C they can deliver that).

    • @samohraje2433
      @samohraje2433 5 років тому

      LTO batteries are quite odd for music aplications.. they can be used as a off grid solar system battery pack due to the cycle ratings ( Propperly charged and not full discharged etc. up to 25 000 maybe even more ) so they are worth it against Lead Acid but they are much mooooore expensive and BMS board is expensive too aspecially the more than 6S BMS for some type of aplications like power inverters from 24 to 230 Or 110 50/60Hz with huge ammount of power. And yes they are quite a bit expensive than LiFePO4 batteries but they have a highest longevity from all batteries. And also they could have 100Ah per one cell and they are i think 3.2V maybe idk 🤷‍♂️

    Ok so. Just to add to the parallel charging info..
    You need to be careful when charging in parallel. Each cell needs to match as closely as possible. Not just in capacity but their impedance, IR (internal resistance) needs to be the same as well. If one cell is lazy, the parallel board is averaging the sum so others can take too much.
    I would cycle all of these probably 3 times then check what each cell accepts in capacity and what the IRs are. If they differ +\- 2%, don’t parallel them. This is much more crucial with other chemistries but still relevant here. Especially going in my vehicle.
    Anyways... Love your channel Big D... keep that shizz up 👊🏼.

    I have been doing tests on these batteries for 2 years. The problem that these batteries after charging up to 2.8V are quickly discharged automatically.
    In addition, each cells does not charge correctly. So at the moment of electronic calibration you will lose the total battery voltage. So, after a whole day of calibration, you need to recharge them again. I have batteries of the same company as you.
    I approach these batteries sold by individual Chinese shops are waste (bad somehow) from a large company - Yinlong.
    To buy good batteries, you need to apply directly to the manufacturer

    With 6 cells pulling 250a per bank at 40ah, you're putting a ~6c load on the cells and getting about .67vDC of drop per cell. Not surprised at all you dropped to 11vDC. Lithiums are great but they aren't magic. I've been asking for months for someone to get C rating charts for the cells because that's what's going to actually tell you how these cells handle load. The sweet spot is generally between 2-4C (80-160a per 40ah bank), so in a vehicle with an alternator you can expect significantly less voltage drop, about an entire volt or two less, but you really do need a decent sized bank and alternator to back it up (or time to recharge). 250a per bank is a lot.

    • @mitchellroberts7954
      @mitchellroberts7954 5 років тому

      Keep in mind that this is still far superior to lead acid or even AGM. You see people with hundreds of AH of batteries not 80ah. 400ah of batteries with a 500a load is what, 1.25c vs this bank at 6c?

    1. Do you connect this the same exact way you would connect a secondary battery?
    2. Substituting this for a secondary battery along with a battery isolator with it.
    3. Do we connect this the same exact way? Power wire basically 1/0 from the lithium + all the way to the battery isolator + into the front of a battery front main battery + So once we cranked the vehicle over (depending on what you're charging voltage is) Will it put for example 14.8v to both battery and lithium cells. I'm just going to use my vehicle as an example. I have a yellow top optima upfront d-35 I was going to buy a secondary D-35, I'm a fan of Optima batteries pretty-much old School technology. Anyway if not a I was going to buy a nvx 10 farad capacitor instead? I'm pretty much upgrading my sound system. With a CT sounds 1000.1 and a CT sounds 80.4 total amperage draw would be about 140 amps I think? Along with 135 amp alternator, 1/0 big 4 wiring job.
    I number this that way there is no confusion. I'm probably wording this wrong but I'm sure you probably know what I mean?
