You flew right over my house in one of the valleys in this video and i've spent a lot of time in Flight Sim 2020 in the area. I'm really excited for 2024 as it looks better than ever. Recently got a crystal light so i'm hoping the VR implementation will be smooth.
One of my favorite places to visit in Google Earth VR and a Rift VR headset is Mt. Snowdon in Wales. You can also place yourself on the cog wheel train in town and "ride" yourself all the way to the top. It is spectacular in 3D photogrammetry. Once up there you can "walk" the ridge trails as well. Now I have a Pimax Crystal and cannot wait to go there in MSFS 2024. The Walk Around or Digital Tourist may become the best part of the simulator with the kind of detail they are providing. I think they know that. Jorg is probably pissed (just kidding). They gotta get ski lifts, cable cars, and related restaurants. The world has over 25,000 or them and Dopplemayr is sold out years ahead. That related scenery is spectacular..
I have located and listed about 300 cable cars and cog wheel trains which are in 3D photogrammetry in GEVR. And i have "ridden" them all using the GEVR hand controllers alone. Snow covered ski slopes also provide very realistic skiing if you simply zig zag down while on the ground. Some 3D areas have up to 75 ski runs you can do with a whole lot of realism. I have skied many dozens of times and ridden the cable cars many hundreds of times. Like "Table Mountain" at Cape Town and many other top tourist attractions all over the world. Microsoft and Jorg have not discovered this yet as a major source of entertainment. But in my opinion they will. The idea of the "Digital Tourist" many actually take the form of a self-named simulator. Oh yes, I found and have listed about 50 major ski-jumps in 3D photogrammetry and have done all of them in VR as well. Many are water lubricated and others are somewhat indoors. Exploring these places alone is a major source of entertainment. Cog wheel trains in Switzerland are wonderful to just ride the rails in VR. I have a categorized catalog of OVER 11,000 3D attractions I have visited. For example I have over 100 walled cities and another 100 hill top cities. MS is missing the boat a little bit in this regard but may catch on soon with it's sudden realization of "the Digital Traveler". They could add 360 degree photos as well. GEVR has over 110 BILLION of them which detail the insides of most everything. I am an expert on Nashville as a result.

What I really want to know is how Photogrammetry and ground 3D autogen has been improved. I feel like they’ve avoided this point a bit, which has me concerned. That was an aspect that really needed some work in 2020. The low res and low coverage areas, the bridge and tree “curtain effect” and the underwater roads/bridges. I played the alpha and noticed zero difference in my area, but in telling myself it’s because the tech alpha didn’t have everything implemented.
Nice video.👍🏼 Offtopic question - if mircosoft remove wmr support and my G2 will be a brick only what vr currently will be the best choice to purchase for sims? (Rtx 4090)
Two natural successors to the G2, Quest 3 and Pimax Crystal Light, both are very good alternatives but the Light has better clarity, Q3 is better for wireless and playing other general VR games. Choice is personal, he has videos on his channel addressing this exact question.
looks promising so far. Hopefully they add an option for Afterburner not to have to hit a key for it. Like in DCS at a certain throttle amount. The Mountains look very very good now. Also the details on the ground. Now we only need an A2A Piper Cup again and im in Heaven.
My only dissapointment when I tried the tech alpha briefly was that the UK looked mostly yellow and brown. The satelite imagery clearly has been taken in a dry period and it looks like a scortched land. If you put the time to the spring or summer and expect green fields you still have the same sundired burnt brown and yellows. What a shame. I think any capture of satelite imagery really should be in the summer months for that region. Now it looks like Autumn all year round.
MSFS does not have good jets apart from one….. the Heatblur F14 and the New Tornado, the rest are all rubbish and boring to fly and look bad. Want jets go DCS
Do fly dcs? Think ive flown the msfs one 2 or 3 times, its hard to go backwards, once youve flown the dcs one. Plus i never seen the point of flying mil-jets without weapons/missions
@@brandonchappell1535 yeah for Combat and such DCS is great. I sometimes go on MSFS for the PMDG 737 700… systems are pretty interesting and fun to learn…flying though from place to place can be boring could never be a commercial pilot.. I would fall asleep and crash the planet
@@alexsp7086 haha yeh, ever since going to dcs i call msfs a takeoff/landing simulator. Since the 777 dropped though ive been using simrate for the cruise (now use it in all planes), really helps stay engaged with flight
I still can't believe they haven't made the work necessary to make a weather radar or a taxi camera possible. The focus is again on graphics and not on airplane systems or even providing developers with a proper SDK. The weather system is a joke.
The heat blur looks better, but it's still too much .. wish I could turn it off, especially for 3rd person flying where camera often gets inside the wash. It can be don by editing the airplane file, but it's pain ..
How are the graphics flying low at most local America towns & cities. Are they any better than msfs2020? Too many trees 🌳 covered houses, roads & bridges in msfs2020
@@VRFlightSimGuy 100mbps solid. It was just hours after tech alpha released tho so possibly a scaling teething issue. I didn't get a chance to try it again later.

WE CAN NOT EVEN COMPARE THIS WITH DCS, this is another championship...DCS is just the modules and i do have almost 3000h in DCS but looking at this will make me comeback to MSFS for sure, DCS is getting boring and i believe MSFS with good carriers and good moduled jets because will have 100% we can make beautiful mission, maybe not killing but everything else, this is superb i almost feel sorry for DCS at this point i have to be honest...i want this way more than i want DCS.
Hi Steve, I have a question please.... When you got your fibre internet what bandwidth speed is your computer using? My WiFi is 500mbps but the computer that's hardwired only pulls 70mbps max liked it's limited? Is this just me? Thanks so much
Hi Will, sounds like your PC is bottlenecked in the WiFi department. Even if you had a 1Gb internet connection, you would still see only 70Mbps. Could be the WiFi adapter. Try and get an RJ45 Ethernet cable running from your PC to the router instead. The scenery has entered the uncanny valley for me
Thanks for the video!
You're welcome!
Hey Steve - have you seen any coastlines creeping up the shore in MSFS 2024?
Hi, is this 90 fps at 4k? I wonder how well this will run in VR. Cheers mate!
1080p monitor. Thanks for watching
I just love to explore in the game, make earth look so amazing
VR is the important test TBH.
Indeed it is
Wow they even got the hawk tooyah pilot voice over on aliron rolls
Nice video.👍🏼 Offtopic question - if mircosoft remove wmr support and my G2 will be a brick only what vr currently will be the best choice to purchase for sims? (Rtx 4090)
Two natural successors to the G2, Quest 3 and Pimax Crystal Light, both are very good alternatives but the Light has better clarity, Q3 is better for wireless and playing other general VR games. Choice is personal, he has videos on his channel addressing this exact question.
Are the graphics in the 2024 version much better than the version before it or is the improvement marginal?
What computer do you have?
13900K, 4090 (By a UK company called Stormforce)
The airport is pronounced clan at the start. LL is pronounced cl, dd is pronounced th, u is pronounced i out of in. Hpoe that helps.
In 2d the visuals were stunning but I didn't fly it much that weekend as 2020 in VR is still far superior to any type of pancake.
Did they open up the alpha again or was this footage from a while ago?
A while ago 👍
it will be interesting to see how we move around outside while in v/r.
The afterburner comes on when you hit 100% throttle keep holding the throttle down until it comes on
Ready for V-1
Looks good what internet speed you have ?
500mbps
@@VRFlightSimGuy cowabunga
looks promising so far. Hopefully they add an option for Afterburner not to have to hit a key for it. Like in DCS at a certain throttle amount. The Mountains look very very good now. Also the details on the ground. Now we only need an A2A Piper Cup again and im in Heaven.
2:51 still a shame that snow doesn't go by altitude
Cancelled pre-order
@@wildone106😂
Now my question is... how you record that so smooth?
Just using OBS
@@VRFlightSimGuy please share your settings, I can't find a way to record a real smooth footage!
Pretty impressive graphics
My only dissapointment when I tried the tech alpha briefly was that the UK looked mostly yellow and brown. The satelite imagery clearly has been taken in a dry period and it looks like a scortched land. If you put the time to the spring or summer and expect green fields you still have the same sundired burnt brown and yellows. What a shame. I think any capture of satelite imagery really should be in the summer months for that region. Now it looks like Autumn all year round.
Which CPU do you have?
Still no VR in Alpha version? Release date is just around the corner. 👀
That graphic model of the F-18 doesn't look right. Cockpit is wrong.
It’s a F/A-18E Super Hornet not a F/A-18C legacy hornet. The cockpit is correct for a Super Hornet.
You absolutely can center the view in 3rd person. It's a key bind but I can't remember the name. I use it constantly for ms2020
Please let me know how thx
What’s your internet speed ? Thank you sir
500mbps
Makes me want ace combat 8
Do you think we'll be able to hit native 72fps in VR, with high end current gen PC and good headset?
I'll let you know on Nov 19th :)
9 days left til it comes out!!!
chant 'VR, VR, VR!'
DCS colours are Scooby doo cartoon like, I wish it looked more like MSFS.
The highest mountain is the Ben Nevis. 😊
Too many trees 🌳 covered houses, roads & bridges in msfs2020
shift+f4 for afterburner. a shame you didn't get it working because if u go mach 1.2ish for a few mins the textures stop loading.
Interesting, what's your Internet speed?
@@VRFlightSimGuy 100mbps solid. It was just hours after tech alpha released tho so possibly a scaling teething issue. I didn't get a chance to try it again later.
Steve, does the texh alpha output telemetry for your H2, if so have you tried it.
I didn't get chance to try it unfortunately
Sticking with 2020 and Orbx methinks!
What is the speed of your internet connection?
500mbps
Is there anyway to download certain areas with a Manuel cache?
Is there any ray tracing? Not seeing a whole lot of shading and shadows in the cockpit and outside on the aircraft when doing rolls?
Look up. dark clouds! All the light we have is diffuse. Even the terrain is all diffusely lit. Why you're not seeing anything in the cockpit either.
It was cloudy, a giant softbox that smooths out the lighting. You need a clear view to a pinpoint light source to get noticable shadow casting. But yeah, FS2024 does have ray tracing.
Your alpha still works?
I make videos well in advance 👍
i hope it performs well in vr as it does in 2D i am alittle concern what about you
Feel the same.
@@VRFlightSimGuy that’s why I am going to wait for your honest review before I even considering purchasing.
@@richardPalmisano Appreciate it Richard.
@@VRFlightSimGuy can you tell me what Nvidia driver version are you using buddy?
@@richardPalmisano Latest
How much ram do you think you will need for MSFS 2024
It's on the box. 32 GB if you close all other programs while flying.
Using 32gb in this video, but I'll be upgrading to 64 before release.
I’d love to move onto this 2024 when it comes but fear that my PC will need serious upgrades or replacing. 😢
What is your PC spec?
@@VRFlightSimGuy well I only have the 2000 MSFS one that runs. Intel(R)core(TM)i5-250 CPU @ 3.3 GHz. 8 BG RAM 64 bit OS. Graphics card MSI NAVIDIA GTX 1050 TI 4GB low profile. I don’t pretend to understand that.
Really wont know how great it is until we see what can be transferred without repeat buying???
The typhoons train a lot in whales.
Hi Steve, I have a question please.... When you got your fibre internet what bandwidth speed is your computer using? My WiFi is 500mbps but the computer that's hardwired only pulls 70mbps max liked it's limited? Is this just me?
Thanks so much
Hi Will, last time I checked my connection is said 490mbps (wired)
Hi Will, sounds like your PC is bottlenecked in the WiFi department. Even if you had a 1Gb internet connection, you would still see only 70Mbps. Could be the WiFi adapter. Try and get an RJ45 Ethernet cable running from your PC to the router instead. That will remove the bottleneck and give you the max speed that your connection supports (hopefully it’s not a 70Mbps connection!!! 🤞🏻
@@darrenbrown3128 thanks for the tip. I did buy a cat 8 ethernet cable as it was supposed to be the fastest. Even if I unplug the ethernet and try WiFi or still locked at 70mbps.... So it's deffo something computer related
@@willbennett1359 can you tell me what speed the actual broadband connection is?
Also - when you plug the cat8 cable in, make sure that your WiFi is completely disabled.
@@darrenbrown3128 thanks for your help, I think updating the WiFi driver and disabling the WiFi did the trick.... Pulling 500bgps now!!
I still find photogrammetry doesn't always load as fast as I'd of imagined. Maybe in 2024 I hope =)
