Start of the F.A. (Football Association) Cup Final match between Manchester City and Newcastle United. GV. Teams entering stadium, & LV. Manchester in track suits. SV. Towards, teams entering stadium. LV. Crowd cheering. SV. Queen Elizabeth II arriving and being greeted by Duchess and Earl of Athlone. SCU. Roy Paul tossing for Jimmy Scoular's call, Scoular wins. GV. Manchester City, in white shorts, kick off. CU. Bert Trautmann, Manchester's German born goalkeeper. STV. Jackie Milburn running with ball, he passes to White and runs into position for White's return. SV. Milburn chasing the ball, Little gives away a corner. SCU. Excited crowd. LV. White takes corner ball sails goalwards. SV. Milburn leaps and heads home. STV. Newcastle players congratulating. SV. Crowd cheering. GV. Top view, Manchester attacking. Zoom, Manchester player centres, Simpson runs from goal to lift it from the head of Paddy Fagan, he clears. STV. The Newcastle forwards switching positions as they attack down the right wing. Vic Keeble who has run onto the wing sends a nice through pass towards the goal. White chases it but Paul beats him in the race and slides the ball back to Trautmann. SV. Trautmann picking up and throwing up field. CU. Princess Margaret and the Queen enjoying the game. SV. Lead scene for Meadows' injury - Jimmy Meadows with a difficult job of marking Mitchell, as Mitchell puts on a Matthews act. LV. Meadows slips and tears a ligament. CU. Dejected Manchester fan. SV. Meadows being assisted from the field. STV. Manchester fighting back as Fagan tries a long cross-field pass to Don Revie. Barnes gets it and tries a long ball through to Revie. Newcastle defence is closely packed and Revie looses ball which is passed back to Simpson who clears up-field. LV. Newcastle attacking and get well on top at this stage. Trautmann leaping to save a shot. SCU. Trautmann leaping and rolling over in saving. CU. Woman shrieking. SCU. Trautmann diving at the feet of a Newcastle forward. Soon everyone joins in a scramble in front of the goal. Trautmann appears with ball and clears up-field. CU. Woman smiling.
LV. Manchester fight back and work ball up-field. CU. Small boy getting very excited. Zoom, Bobby Johnstone running towards goal with only the goalkeeper to beat, he delays his shot and Simpson dives at his feet and intercepts the ball. CU. Disappointed fans. SV. Manchester still attacking, Hayes crosses the ball onto Johnstone's head who scores with a flying header. Pan, Manchester players congratulating. SV. Royal party applauding. LV. White taking a corner. Trautmann intercepts ball. SV. Manchester attacking. A well drilled defence has little trouble in dealing with the depleted Manchester attack. SV. Scoular taking the ball up-field for Newcastle. CU. People watching. SV. Trautmann getting ready in Manchester's goal. LV. White centres the ball. The ever dangerous Mitchell receives, runs the ball almost out of play before shooting and scoring from an impossible angle. GV. Crowd cheering. SV. Newcastle players congratulating. CU. People cheering. SV. Newcastle now well on top as Bob Stokoe finds time to work the ball up-field before passing to Casey who carries on the good work. Newcastle forwards sweep down on the Manchester defence. CU. Man in crowd. Zoom, lead to Newcastle's third goal - Mitchell again shows his superb ball control. He crosses the ball, Trautmann gets his hand to it but the ball goes to Hannah who crashes it home. Zoom into players congratulating. LV. Crowd cheering. Newcastle 3, Manchester City 1. LV. Manchester fight back. Joe Hayes takes a free kick, Casey collides with Revie as they leap for the ball, and he falls down injured as Manchester battle for the ball. SCU. Casey laying injured, whilst the other players battle for the ball. CU. Crowd. LV. Newcastle attacking at the other end. Mitchell again is prominent. CU. Trautmann running out to collect Mitchell's centre. He bounces ball out of danger and clears up field. Zoom as Newcastle attack. Trautmann flings himself at a shot, misses, ball goes just wide. The end of game, score - Newcastle United 3, Manchester City 1. SV. Queen getting ready to present the Cup. SV. Scoular leading the Newcastle players up to the box. GV. Crowd cheering. SCU. Queen greeting Scoular and presenting Cup. LV. Crowd. SV. Scoular being mobbed by fans, as he leads team from box.
